American Comics: Multiverse of Madness - #553 - Chapter 550 Prayers Before Death
Above the endless plain, the dark sky suddenly shattered.
Between that loud noise, the broken space scattered like mirror fragments, and the initiator of this scene was a locomotive speeding past in mid-air.
Perhaps breaking through the dimensional barrier activated the defensive magic set up by Tony Stark on the outside. The entire exterior of the locomotive glowed with a faint blue light, and the red warning light was also flashing.
“Oh my God!”
Billy Batson never expected that Zhi Duoxing, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, would crash into the weird mirror without saying a word. He almost thought that the car would be crashed and everyone would be killed.
Zhang Yi looked as steady as a rock. Even though the entire locomotive began to tremble violently, he still maintained his balance and even held on to Billy who almost flew out.
“Don’t worry, dizziness is normal. Breaking through to other dimensions will have a great impact on the human body. If you want to vomit, there is a paper bag behind your seat. Don’t vomit in the car. I have mysophobia.”
Zhi Duoxing held the joystick tightly with both hands and tried her best to control the train stably. She did not forget to remind Billy Batson behind her.
“Thank you, I can still carry it. No, I can’t carry it. Give me the bag.” Billy said harshly for less than three seconds before turning around and starting to rummage through the seat pockets.
Looking out the window at the completely different environment around him, Zhang Yi narrowed his eyes slightly, stood up and came to the side of Zhiduoxing and Jushentong. “We succeeded?”
“So, this should be a small dimension, but it can be seen from the surrounding environment that we are indeed no longer in the real world, so… yes, we succeeded.” Zhiduoxing nodded.
Zhang Yi looked back and saw that the crack in the space that they had smashed into had slowly begun to shrink.
As those fragments of mirror-like space were rejoined piece by piece, the cracks were being filled in at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Sensing Zhang Yi’s gaze, Zhiduoxing paused, fearing that he didn’t know the reason for this incredible sight, so he explained softly.
“The dimension of space has a very strong self-healing ability. Although we opened a hole by forcefully rushing in, this did not cause any damage to the space itself. They will be repaired automatically.”
“Then why did the mirror dimension not automatically repair itself, but instead turned into space turbulence?” Zhang Yi asked curiously.
“The connection between the mirror dimension and reality is very deep. This proves that the damage in the mirror dimension has reached the threshold and is in an irreparable state. To be honest, it is hard for me to imagine anyone who is so powerful as to destroy the entire mirror dimension. .”
Zhi Duoxing shook her head and sighed. She didn’t know enough about that battle back then. She only remembered that her parents sent them to the pocket dimension of other timelines in order to protect her and her brother.
It was also there that she had enough time to learn some powerful technologies that were years ahead of the current era.
Listening to Zhi Duoxing’s words, Zhang Yi also fell silent. In his impression, to be able to break the mirror dimension, or to cause damage to it, it must be at least as powerful as the Infinity Stones.
It’s a pity that because these dimensions have transcended the real dimension, Zhang Yi cannot find the specific situation in the timeline.
“Get ready, we’re landing.”
While Zhang Yi was thinking, Franklin, who had been silent all this time, suddenly spoke.
Following his words, the rails turned into energy turned in mid-air, like a rotating slide spiraling down from the sky, leading the locomotive to continuously descend.
Zhi Duoxing next to her also made a move. She raised her hand and pulled the whistle. At the same time, the locomotive also began to brake. Under the unloading force of the rails, the train’s forward speed gradually slowed down.
Getting closer and closer to the ground, Zhang Yi came to the window and looked at the alien dimension under his feet, which was extremely unfamiliar to him.
There are so many dimensions in the Marvel Universe, and less than half of them have been discovered or connected to the real world, so Zhang Yi is not sure where this place is.
He just wanted to see if he could deduce some useful clues through his understanding of the world.
Looking out the car window, all you see is the endless grassland. If you add a few yurts to this scene, it will feel like you have arrived in Inner Mongolia.
“The energy remains here” Zhang Yi frowned.
“Have you noticed it too?” Jushentong raised his head and looked at Zhang Yi. “There are many undead gathered here, and they are not ordinary undead.”
Listening to Franklin’s expressionless words, Zhang Yi’s frown deepened.
From the beginning, he was aware of the energies that were extremely familiar to him. He had been in contact with the limbo of hell several times, and now Zhang Yi was extremely sensitive to energies such as demons and undead.
“This can’t be an illusion. No one can hide it from my wizard’s eyes, but I have never heard of such a large grassland in hell before.” Zhang Yi said solemnly.
“It’s indeed a bit strange. This grassland is real, but why are there so many resentful souls? Is this part of heaven?” Jushentong blinked.
“Are there any buildings related to heaven around here?” Zhang Yi pointed to the grassland outside the window. The breeze blew by, causing ripples. The entire grassland was empty, and even life no longer existed.
With the loud whistle, a cloud of steam emerged from the bottom of the locomotive, and it staggered to a stop.
“No matter what is going on, let’s go down and look for clues first.” When the train came to a complete stop, Zhi Duoxing jumped off the stool and said.
“Okay, Billy, are you okay?” Zhang Yi glanced at Billy Batson behind him and received a silent thumbs up, meaning he was not bad.
“If you really feel uncomfortable, you can stay in the car. We will be active nearby and won’t be too far from the train.”
Zhang Yi stopped Jushentong, who was eager to run out for a stroll, then walked in front and got out of the car first.
Although the ability to gather supernatural powers is very powerful, this is an unknown dimension after all, and it looks so weird, so there is no way Zhang Yi would let a child take the lead.
After stepping off the train, when the soles of his feet came into complete contact with the grass, Zhang Yi slowly let go of his worries.
He was still worried that what he saw before him was an illusion. After all, it was too weird to feel the death breath of the undead on a grassland.
“Be careful. Although we didn’t sense anything, we can’t take it lightly.” Zhang Yi tried to take a few steps forward, and then reminded the people behind him.
Jushentong looked around curiously. He was a child after all, and he felt novel about everything around him.
Zhiduoxing, on the other hand, started to check the grass on the ground as soon as she got off the car, as if these grasses covering the entire earth had a special attraction to her.
“Franklin, can you see anything wrong?” Zhang Yi asked towards the gathering power after many attempts to sense it failed.
In response, Jushentong also shook his head. “The energy here is so weird. I can feel the breath of magic, but most of it is tainted by the undead.”
“What can be inferred is that this place was obviously part of the battlefield back then, and the battle situation was more tragic than we imagined.” Zhang Yi looked up at the sky and murmured.
At this time, the sky in this dimension was extremely dark, and countless incorporeal souls were decomposed into the most basic energy, wandering in the black clouds, emitting dull wails, and bringing up gusts of dark wind.
“Mr. Zhang, I seem to have discovered something.” Suddenly, there was a reaction from Zhiduoxing.
Hearing the sound, Zhang Yi quickly came to Zhi Duoxing.
“Look.” Zhi Duoxing opened the calf-high grass, revealing the scarlet and somewhat black soil underneath.
Zhang Yi and Jushentong both came over, but they couldn’t tell any details with their eyesight.
“What’s the story about this dirt?”
“The point is not the soil. Although I have not done any detailed inspection, I can infer that the soil has been soaked in a lot of blood. No, that is not the point.”
Zhiduoxing peeled away the grass roots, revealing some black marks on them.
“This should be a sign of burning, and it is definitely not something ordinary fire can do. This grassland should have experienced a fire with supernatural energy, and what we see now is new grass growing back.”
Hearing this, Zhang Yi also stretched out his fingers and touched the roots that were still burnt black.
His brows furrowed deeply, and after a moment, Zhang Yi nodded gloomily.
“You are right, there are obvious traces of ancient black magic on it.”
In addition to this, there is another thing that makes Zhang Yi even more strange, that is, the newly grown grass actually covers all these traces and energy.
If Zhiduoxing hadn’t opened up the turf and allowed Zhang Yi to have close contact with the trace, he would not have noticed it for a while.
“Zhang, Zhang Yi.”
While Zhang Yi and the others were investigating this strange energy, Billy Batson stumbled off the train holding on to the handrail.
“Billy, if you don’t feel comfortable, just stay in the car. We’ll be fine soon.”
Zhang Yi looked at Billy with some worry. The side effects caused by dimension traveling vary from person to person. Even he couldn’t do anything about this. He could only say that Billy was unlucky.
But after hearing this, Billy Batson shook his head violently, panting heavily and looking a little pale.
“This, something is wrong here.”
Zhang Ye stepped forward, held Billy’s elbow, and said softly. “I know we’re looking into this and now we need to determine where this is before we can move forward and you need to get some rest.”
“No!.You don’t understand”
Billy grabbed Zhang Yi’s collar and raised his head with force, his eyes filled with horror and a trace of uncontrollable anger.
“You don’t understand this.”
“I feel the power of prayer here.”
“Pray?” Zhang Yi was stunned for a moment, and his face instantly became serious.
Billy Batson nodded slightly, took a deep breath, and looked extremely complicated.
“.and..and not the prayers of mortals.”
“.is God”
“.God’s prayer before death”
