As Prophet - Chapter 165

Episode 165. Preemptive Attack is Essential
Dalcheon, who had gone outside the palace, looked for the Gyeonggi governor. As expected, he was slowly circling the palace with his soldiers.
“Nothing much?”
“The time has come, but I haven’t caught a single rat.”
“Because I’m in a mouse hole.”
“A mouse hole?”
Dalcheon raised his hand and pointed to the alley of houses facing the palace and the road.
“I’m waiting. Inside there.”
“You can’t attack those who don’t attack you.”
“Then I guess you’ll attack after your neck is cut off.”
The game inspector’s clenched fist shook. Everything is like this. He makes remarks that completely ignore the principles of engagement without any hesitation. And he doesn’t seem to have even the slightest sense of remorse.
“Civilians could die.”
“If those guys are doing that, how could there be civilians?”
“What do you want me to do?”
“Preemptive strike is essential. If you wait and get hit, you will lose your sense of foresight. The subsequent battle will be difficult. You are not trying to fulfill the form of a report that says that they suddenly attacked later and you had no choice but to do something, are you?”
“Well, of course… … .”
He scratches people with clever words and makes them move with that hurt feeling. Dalcheon divided the alley into three.
“Let’s do it. We can kill them all. They are a bunch of rebels.”
It was hard to tell if they were there or not, because of the darkness of the alley and the fact that they were wearing black clothes. Dalcheon asked for a bow, put a baby’s arrow in it, and shot. A scream of ‘Ugh!’ was heard.
Another shot and a black shadow fell forward. The suppressed groan of a scream weighed heavily on the listener’s heart.
“You see it over there? Half water, half meat.”
Dalcheon lightly draws the bowstring, pulls it back, and releases it. There is no seriousness at all, but the arrow flies and hits the target well. When five or six of them fell, I could feel the men retreating.
“You get hit a few times and then retreat.”
“What should I do?”
“Send in the spearmen. Tell them to come and stab you.”
“Loyalty!”
At the command of the inspector, a group of cavalrymen approached the alley and stabbed their long spears wildly as if poking at the grass. The inspector gave a rough order, but there was no moment more sincere than that for soldiers who had to face the enemy. As they galloped into the alley and swung their spears, the weak ones came out on the tip of their spears. They fluttered like fish caught on a hook and came out, and another spearman struck them down. The black warrior, who had his stomach pierced and his head hit, fell down bleeding.
Dalcheon shrugged his shoulders as he watched the game.
“Right?”
“I knew it.”
“But why did you stay still? If you stay still, they will have no choice but to attack you wherever and whenever they want. That would be absolutely disadvantageous. I have to decide when and where to fight.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes.”
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office turned its gaze to the houses and alleys visible to the right of the long wall extending north to south.
“I will sweep it away.”
“Don’t go too deep.”
“Loyalty!”
The guerrillas ran towards the alley. They shot arrows into the places where they couldn’t be seen and stabbed spears. When they threw torches, several fell down and groaned, and those inside the alley quickly pulled themselves out and ran away.
Dalcheon provoked the Gyeonggi governor to spur their activities. He told them to wait, so they can’t retreat. He can’t start because the order to attack hasn’t been given. He’s good at making things difficult for his opponents.
Dalcheon went over to the place where the men who had gone over to the house were making a fuss. When five or six men hid in the yard, the owner of the house shouted, “Thieves!” Dalcheon appeared like a ghost in front of them as they approached to cover the owner’s mouth.
He shouted the same thing, “Thieves!” and cut off their necks. As soon as he appeared, he shouted while cutting off their necks. A white beam of light drew a semicircle in the air.
Three men fell, holding their necks with both hands. The one whose neck was cut off died, not alive. Blood poured out like a fountain. The one who was not dead yet was crying, and the comrades who came with him pulled their bodies out. Dalcheon swung his sword. The men who had swords stuck in the back of their heads, the Myeongmunhyeol and the Gyeonjeonghyeol points, fell and struggled. Where do you get them, that sword keeps coming out endlessly.
I sneakily approached and retrieved the knife, but when I got close, it was pulled out. I wiped the bloody part on the clothes of the fallen man. I searched the body of the man whose soul was about to leave the body. But there was nothing. There was nothing to prove my identity other than the weapon and uniform. I was drafted into a cruel army that would not let anyone know who I was, even if I died or did not return.
As I pushed open the private door, there were about a dozen people hiding at the corner of the alley.
“What? Why?”
Then they recognized Dalcheon as one of their own. Dalcheon muttered.
“What useless guys.”
“What are you talking about?”
As Dalcheon approached, the person who appeared to be the commander drew his sword.
“Who are you?”
“Oh my, who could it be tonight?”
“Where did the little Italian go?”
“Dead.”
“What about the water dung [無乙同]?”
“I told you, they’re all dead.”
“Who are you!”
“Are you so clueless that you can do your job as a rebel properly?”
Only then did the commander notice the situation and order an attack.
“The enemy! Strike!”
A dozen men came rushing in from a narrow alley, weapons drawn. Dalcheon did not retreat or dodge, but instead dove into the men.
“Hit!”
The sword swung in the darkness cut and stabbed the same side. If you dodge slightly and strike the back of the arm, the sword you swung will stab the back of your comrade. If you dodge the swinging sword and strike the back, it will spin around more and cut off the neck of your comrade. Dalcheon, who dug into the chaos that had suddenly turned into chaos, subdued the left leader and dragged him out.
He leaned against the wall of the house and asked.
“name?”
“I don’t know.”
Dalcheon’s fist sank into the bastard’s stomach. He let out a ‘Ugh!’ scream and vomited out what he had eaten.
“name.”
“does not exist.”
Again, the fist struck the guy’s stomach. A scream tore through the sky. The soldiers of the Geun-gi Army came and surrounded him. Dal-cheon glanced at him and asked again.
“If you answer that question again, you might die. Name?”
“It is Do, Do, Doyaji.”
“Your name is Heehanta. Are you a slave?”
“no.”
Even while dying, he reacts violently. He must be a slave.
“How many people did you bring?”
“One person leads twenty-five people.”
“Where have all your men gone?”
“Didn’t the great man kill them all?”
“No. What is the target of today’s attack?”
“He is a usurper. He became king through rebellion.”
“Ahem. Then if you guys do it, isn’t it usurpation?”
“We said it was a just cause. It was about causing justice.”
“Hmm. How many guys like you lead twenty-five of you?”
The guy looked around.
“There are more than a hundred. There are so many that I couldn’t even count them.”
“Oh, I see. Now that it’s time, why don’t you start?”
“The signal is supposed to go up.”
“What signal?”
“They said they were going to offer a flower arrangement.”
“Ahem.”
Dalcheon turned around.
“Thank you, adults?”
“He is commanding the attack from behind there.”
“What are you commanding? Just stay still.”
“That’s conducting.”
“Phew. Go and tell them to raise a firearm. That way, they’ll start attacking.”
“Loyalty!”
At Dalcheon’s direction, a fireball rose high above the camp. Dalcheon shouted to the surrounding soldiers.
“Waaa …
At the sound of the fire and the shouts, those hiding in the alleys rushed out. Hundreds of people rushed out from all directions, and I thought the fire that Dalcheon had ordered was an attack order. They must have rushed out before the battle line was ready. They rushed over the wall and pushed the friendly forces out of the alleys, but there was no follow-up force. A bloody battle broke out on the wide road that separated the palace wall and the houses.
The black unarmed men with swords rushed forward fearfully. The soldiers who had been separated from the military formation dropped their heads helplessly. Those who had formed a military formation and intercepted them with shields, long weapons, and bows did an excellent job of blocking them. They did not fight them alone, but formed groups of three or five to intercept them, which blunted their attacks.
Dalcheon ran to the Gyeonggi governor.
“It has begun.”
“Isn’t it the true man who started it? He said to offer up a firecracker.”
“It was going to start anyway, and it started before they were ready. Ahahaha!”
This is also war, but does it look like child’s play to him?
“There are twenty-five of them. They seem to be coming in droves, but there’s one guy who has the upper hand. We have to take him down first.”
“All right.”
Dalcheon was running around. The enemies were rushing forward like the Japanese. They had no time to prepare their troops in the narrow streets and were defeated.
“Form up! Respond together!”
The game inspector shouted. Some people went to the palace wall and jumped on it. When one person bowed down in front of the wall, the person behind him stepped on it and jumped over it.
The guys screamed as they jumped up and grabbed the fence with their hands. The iron objects jutted out like vicious thorns and pierced their palms.
“Ouch! Aah! Aah!”
When they screamed, they fell backwards, and the tiles on the wall came crashing down and covered their faces. In the short moment they stopped moving as they climbed over the wall, arrows flew from inside the castle. They didn’t miss the short moment they changed their stance on the wall. Several arrows pierced their bodies, and the black warriors fell helplessly. It was night, so they couldn’t see the arrows. It seemed that they still didn’t have the energy to prepare their armor.
Those who climbed over the wall charged forward, but the spurts pierced their feet. They stumbled and fell, and when they tried to change their positions without falling, arrows rained down. The whole place became a scene of chaos. Dozens, if not hundreds, of screams arose, and the order to attack struck them fiercely on the back.
Those who had fallen after holding onto the broken wall and climbing over it, carefully moved forward after assessing the situation. They were so focused on the twenty or so sheets of paper laid out on the wall that they looked down only to find an arrow flying and hitting them.
Meanwhile, the Geun-gi Army, who were commanding the battle outside the palace, continued the battle with difficulty, blocking and letting go of the men. Since the men were not targeting the Geun-gi Army, most of them tried to just pass by. They achieved success by attacking them while taking advantage of the gap, and many of them fell on this side of the wall.
The commander of the game encouraged the soldiers by shouting simple orders such as “stop”, “catch”, and “kill”.
They evaded the defense of the Geun-gi Army and climbed over the wall to enter the palace. The traps caught many of them by the ankles, but many of them passed through the trap field. They headed toward Gangnyeongjeon, swinging their swords fiercely. The soldiers of the Royal Guard fought back, swinging their swords like the men, and the troops of Hanseongbu intercepted them with bows.
Dalcheon climbed over the wall and entered the palace, pulling out a long pole. The Gyeonggi governor muttered.
“When I go, it seems like I’m telling them not to shoot.”
I raised my eyebrows and pursed my lips, but the feeling of being taken advantage of did not go away.
“Whew, now it’s a palace battle. I couldn’t stop them all.”
* * *
There were losses, but thousands of them climbed over the fence almost simultaneously. Their weapons were only a single sword, but the momentum of those who rushed in from the darkness was extraordinary. They had the power to cut down the clashing gold army with a single sword.
It was different from before. The situation changed to the close combat that Dalcheon had said he had to avoid. They were fighting each other one by one here and there, but before they could even move three or four times, the Geumgun was the first to fall. Dalcheon let out a sigh. The defeat was obvious everywhere.
I told them not to do this, that they would surely lose, but they didn’t listen. Those who were known to use the sword in Hanyang joined the royal army. They believed that their martial arts skills could defeat anyone in a one-on-one match. I told them to form a line, but they were far apart. I told them to prepare weapons and armor and fight in an organized manner, but they rushed in with only swords.
Arrogance brought trouble. He was told to prepare his bow, but he left it behind. He was told to carry his long weapon, but he did not. He was ashamed to bear the shield in the vanguard, and he did everything he could to avoid that role.
