Bamboo Forest Manager - Chapter 313
The Last Night in Hawaii
“…Hah, life.”
Collapsed on the bed, I stared blankly at the ceiling. My whole body throbbed, making it hard to even rise.
Seeing Yu Ah-rin possess the resolve to strike her own boyfriend like this, I can’t help but think she’s destined for greatness.
“Woo Ji-na.”
Beside me.
A figure sprawled out.
Seo Ye-rin, who had taken her hits before me, lay face down, buried in the pillow like a corpse.
“I think your girlfriend is a serial assaulter.”
“True.”
“Should we report it to the police?”
“How many numbers are there for the police in Hawaii?”
“I don’t know either.”
“Then let’s not.”
“Right.”
Lying there, battered and with nothing to do, it felt more like we were having a conversation out of sheer boredom.
Seo Ye-rin subtly turned her head toward me.
“Woo Ji-na.”
“What now?”
“She said it’s her turn today.”
“That’s true. But I have to go back tomorrow, so I need to sleep early. We have to leave right after lunch.”
At least breakfast at the airport was a safe bet, as Choi I-seo had warned me.
So, I really should sleep early tonight.
“Then can’t we just start now?”
“Hm, that’s persuasive.”
“Right? What do you think? Should I just take off my panties?”
I almost blurted it out but glanced down instead.
There, I saw Choi I-seo, busy setting up food for our last meal together, her gaze fixed on us, as if she had overheard our conversation.
It seemed that today would not be the day to shed my underwear.
“Today feels tough.”
“Tch.”
Though I felt a twinge of disappointment, I wouldn’t push it. As I half-heartedly considered getting up to help with the setup, a sudden rumble echoed.
Vroom!
A message from Korea arrived.
– Jeong Chan-woo: Hahaha
– Jeong Chan-woo: (photo)
A group chat of fools.
For some reason, Chan-woo had taken the initiative to message first.
“What’s this?”
The photo he sent revealed me, grotesquely disheveled by an unexpected gust of wind. My bangs were all askew, nostrils flaring, mouth agape. I even frowned, deep creases marking my forehead.
– Ahn Hyun-ho: LMAO
– Kang Han-gang: You b*stard.
– Pyo Jin-ho: It’s funny, but honestly, I’m envious.
– Kim Woo-jin: What’s this? Where did that photo come from?
As I pondered their words, something felt off. I checked the notifications and saw that a new profile had been updated.
“What the…?”
All the profile pictures of Seo Ye-rin, Choi Yi-seo, and Yoo Ah-rin had been changed to that very photo.
– Kang Han-gang: Damn it. So you really did go on a trip with three girls.
– Pyo Jin-ho: I’m so envious, it’s infuriating. We’re off to the military now.
– Ahn Hyun-ho: Shouldn’t we report that b*stard to the broadcasting station?
– Jeong Chan-woo: I won’t. He looks so ugly it’s almost pitiful.
– Ahn Hyun-ho: LMAO, true.
– Kang Han-gang: Wow, but seriously, he’s really ugly.
– Pyo Jin-ho: See, all it takes is money to make it in this world. Let’s succeed, guys.
While those fools were just being themselves, the real kicker was that messages were now coming in from people whose names I didn’t even recognize.
– Baek Seo-woo: Where are you taking the girls? I’m bored too; can you invite me?
– Lee Hyun-a: I heard Yerin is going on a trip. Did you go with her?
– Shin Ho-chang: Hey, Woo-jin, it’s me, Ho-chang. Want to grab a drink together?
– Kim I-joo: Are you hanging out with the others? I heard Arin went to Hawaii. Did you go with her?
– Hwang In-seop: ??? Is that your profile picture? Seriously? Weren’t you getting along well with Yoon-ji?
– Choi Bo-ram: Did you send your lewd pics to the kids?
“Ah, damn it.”
What the hell? Suddenly, a bunch of people I’ve never even heard of are bombarding me with messages.
This is the first time in my life I’ve received this many messages on KakaoTalk since it became known that I’m the chairman’s son.
“Hey! What are you guys going to do about this?”
As I thrust my phone forward in annoyance, Seo Yerin suddenly looks up and shouts.
“Ahhh! A private message from Hyun-a! Woo-jin is cheating!”
“What the hell are you talking about!”
Frustrated, I fling my phone and reach out to Seo Yerin, who’s sprawled on the bed.
If it were a guy, I would’ve choked him, but since it’s a girl, I just grabbed her chest.
“Ah! Ouch!”
“Shut up! This is all your fault!”
“If you’re going to do it, at least be gentle! Move your fingers a bit!”
At that moment, someone’s arm wraps around my neck.
A move I’d seen in wrestling, a crossline, unfolds.
And just like flipping a coin, Yu Arin flips me over, pinning me down on the bed.
Unfortunately, as she rolls over, she crushes Seo Yerin’s legs beneath her.
“Ah! My leg!”
Yerin writhes in agony and tumbles right off the bed.
Thud!
“Ahhh! My head!”
“Where do you think you’re going, you perv!”
Ignoring the fallen Yerin, Yu Arin glares at me, breathing heavily.
But I have something to say too.
“Hey! Change your profile pictures! That’s why I’m getting bombarded with messages!”
“Profile picture? Oh, did you come out looking super ugly?”
The mocking Yu-A-Rin.
I’m so irritated that I sit up and wrap my arms around her waist, then I throw her down just like that.
Praising myself for pulling off a move that could come straight from wrestling, I look down at the sprawled Yu-A-Rin.
“Those taekwondo kids can’t move an inch in grappling—ugh?! Ouch! That hurts!”
Even while pinned beneath me, she swings her fists wildly.
No, I’m sure the webtoon said that taekwondo kids can’t do anything in this situation.
“Ouch! Stop hitting me!”
With Yu-A-Rin continuing her punches without a word, I decide to dig in even deeper.
As I hug her tightly, she starts to hit my back in surprise, but surprisingly, there’s not much strength behind it.
“Let go, you b*stard!”
“If I let go, you’ll just hit me!”
“I’ll hit you even if you don’t let go!”
Is there really no way to subdue her here? I pull my hands back slightly and tickle her side.
“Ha?!”
Yu-A-Rin gasps in surprise, squirming and laughing in my embrace.
“Gotcha, you little brat.”
As I start tickling her, she writhes and laughs, still held in my arms.
“Okay, okay! I get it! Stop it! You b*stard! Don’t poke my butt!”
“Ahem.”
Poking her butt was an irresistible temptation.
As I subtly pull my waist back and release my grip, Yu-A-Rin, now a mess with tears in her eyes, takes a moment to catch her breath.
“Ugh, damn it. I’ve been s*xually harassed.”
“Didn’t even notice because your chest is so small, you idiot.”
“I swear I’m going to kill you.”
Thinking I should escape before that happens, I try to move, but Choi Yi-Seo is looking at my phone.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
“I just saw you got a message. Seems like the others were really curious.”
“Of course. It’s vacation, and suddenly three people change their profile pictures to mine.”
Especially since they’re all beauties, the others must have been quite interested, and we often hang out together.
“They must have been confused. Wondering who I’m dating among the three of them.”
Before the break, it must have been the same, but in the midst of the vacation, a broadcast about Oh Yoon-ji aired.
If you’re in the English department, there’s no way you wouldn’t know about me and Oh Yoon-ji, so naturally, they must have figured out that I’m the youngest son of the Wooju Group.
Back then, a few of them reached out, trying to get close, but I ignored them all.
In the end, from just the broadcast, it seemed like I was getting back together with Oh Yoon-ji.
Suddenly, everyone changed their profile pictures to my candid shot all at once, so they must have thought something was up.
Some even told a few friends they were going on a trip.
“What are you going to do about this?”
“What can I do? I just accepted the candid and put it up as my profile. It’s funny, isn’t it?”
It really is funny.
If only I weren’t the one involved.
“Haah, is that really how you’re going to say it?”
I take the phone, saying I’ll just claim I sent the photo because it was funny.
“But what about the others?”
Oh Yoon-ji, Choi Jin-ah, and Senior Joo-hee are nowhere to be seen. We were supposed to eat together.
“The senior went to take a call, and Yoon-ji and Jin-ah said they’d go to the room to grab something. They said there’s a game to play?”
“What game?”
“I don’t know. More importantly, come here. I just had a great idea.”
Suddenly, Choi Yi-seo, familiar with me, snatches my phone and crosses her arms, tapping away.
Click.
Then she takes a selfie.
It’s true that when Choi Yi-seo poses prettily, it turns out really beautiful.
I wish we could hang out like this more often.
“Upload this as your profile. Then everything will be solved.”
“What’s solved?”
“It’ll be solved by saying we’re dating. The others will just think it’s a joke with your candid.”
“Hm.”
“Why? Don’t you like it?”
“No, it’s not that I don’t like—!”
Bam!
“You little brat!”
—
From behind, Yuarin lunges at me, wrapping her arms around my neck in a chokehold.
“Gah!”
My body sways, nearly toppling over, but I manage to hold on with my core strength.
“This b*stard is harassing me while Sun-ae is off with Choi I-seo?!”
“Cough! L-Let go, you witch!”
As I struggle and stumble backward, I step on something.
Crack!
“Ahhh! My sooon!”
That girl is still sprawled under the bed.
“It hurts! It hurts! Suck it here!”
Hanging from my leg is Seoye-rin, while Yuarin bites my ear, clinging to my back.
In this chaotic collaboration of madness, I try to shake them off, moving my body wildly.
Crash!
The table in front of the bed tips over.
All the food that Choi I-seo had neatly arranged goes tumbling to the floor.
“……”
“……”
“……”
The three of us glance at Choi I-seo simultaneously.
“Phew, phew.”
Her lips twitch.
The moment I see that, I’m already bolting out of the room.
“Run, you b*stard! Unless you want to die!”
Yuarin shouts urgently from my back.
“Waaah!”
Behind us, Seoye-rin’s scream echoes, still unable to rise.
