Became an Evolving Space Monster - Chapter 235

Ep. 234
The forest moves. An artificial metallic sound can be heard amid the sound of the wind blowing through the trees.
Hundreds of screamers are coming this way.
“Big man” “Fellow” “Is it okay?”
Adhai, who was hiding behind me as cover, asked with concern.
‘Not all of them will die.’
Where we and the Screamers are now is in the forest on the other side of the cliff where the nest is located.
Coming out of the forest and reaching the steep cliff, you will come across a large river flowing between them. This is the path that the Heavenly Mother and Ham Ort took when they escaped.
And on the other side of the river, there are numerous caves all over the cliff. These caves are the entrances to the dragon’s nest.
The terrain itself is a natural fortress that is not easy to conquer. A Screamer without the ability to fly would have to suffer considerable loss to break through there.
‘As expected, the Gallagons are likely to be on the defensive.’
I guess it’s true that a significant number of the Gallagons in the nest died. They probably came out to fight the Screamers at first, but as the damage became severe, they changed their strategy and chose to defend themselves inside the nest.
If the Gallagons had been annihilated, the enemies would have attacked us from their nests, not here.
[Zuzuzuz zuuzuzuzuz zuuzuzuzuz zuuzuzuzuz (Don’t worry. I’ll go to the nest when I get the chance)]
“okay”
Gallagons who are sensitive to psychic powers must have sensed the arrival of Adhai. The fact that he did not come out despite this means that things are not good inside the nest. Perhaps something bad has happened to Nel Germa, who is in charge of commanding the nest.
‘I guess I’ll have to join the nest.’
The distance from the nest is not that far. I think I’ll have to fight them and then move when I have a chance.
Even while I was lost in thought, the enemies continued to move. The movement detected by the auxiliary organ under the jaw increased exponentially.
While I was wondering when would be a good time to strike, No. 26, who was holding my small arms near my chest, tapped me.
“Big baby.”
[Zuzuzu (What’s wrong?)]
“I feel like I have a friend over there.”
[Zuzuzu zuuzu zuuzu zuuzu zuuzu zuuzu (They are not friends, they are bad enemies)]
Commander-level mutant Screamers, including PS-111, contain the genes of the Sea Demon. Because of this, 26 regards PS-111 as a being similar to his own kind.
‘I guess it’ll be okay since I scolded you so badly last time…’
I tried to give him another warning, thinking he might be hesitating again, but No. 26 made the first move.
“The bad guys are talking to each other.”
[Zuzu zuzuzuzu (Are you talking?)]
“Yeah. I don’t know what you mean because you’re using such difficult words.”
I focused on the auxiliary organs again, but I felt no psychic waves other than faint electromagnetic waves coming from a special machine.
‘Is this a wavelength that only Bubble Amoeba Sea Demons can detect?’
“Number 26 detected their conversation. Can you hear anything?”
As I asked, a voice came from above. It was PS-111, perfectly hidden among the branches.
“It is impossible to use or detect the PS model dedicated line because it has been rebuilt as an independent line to match the new main controller.”
“okay?”
If we can eavesdrop on their communications, we can properly counteract their plans. PS-111 says it’s impossible, so there’s nothing we can do. I asked 26 if he could relay what he heard.
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong?”
[Zuzu zuzuzuzuzu zuzu zuzuzu (It seems like it’s called a command bypass strike)]
“What is a bypass strike?”
Unfortunately, even though No. 26 was able to eavesdrop, he couldn’t understand what it meant. It would be nice if he had time to slowly interpret the information he was eavesdropping on, but that’s not possible.
‘No, wait a minute.’
While I was feeling regretful, an idea suddenly came to me.
Number 26 can project psychic powers widely to create an EMP-like effect, powerful enough to stop a spaceship sailing through space.
‘Then wouldn’t it be possible to prevent them from contacting us?’
When I asked if it was possible, the guy beamed and said he could do it.
“I can make you quiet. Should I do it now?”
[Zuzu zuzu zuzu zuzu zuzu (No. If I give you a signal)]
It wouldn’t be a bad idea to write it right away, but I decided to wait a little longer.
As you can see from the PS-111, mutant Screamers are biological weapons that learn through combat. Even if you block their communications, if one or two sneak out, you’ll end up losing a card.
‘You have to aim for a situation where you can strike all at once.’
And there are so many gaps here for them to escape through.
At that moment, their figures appeared between the trees.
On its head is a pale, human face, but beneath it is a jumble of machine parts, tubes, and a rigid metal frame.
The biomechanical torso had eight long legs, each of which was made up of exposed red muscle and metal tubes, with three alloy claws at the end.
They resemble mechanical spiders with human heads and glowing red eyes.
There was no emotion in those red eyes other than the goal of tearing the enemy apart.
I opened my jaw wide and activated my acid fungal glands. An oval green mass shot out of my mouth and hit the base of a distant tree.
In an instant, the tree with its upper part of the roots melted and fell in the direction they were coming from. Some of the running Screamers were lifted into the air.
And then I fired my psychic breath at them as they were floating in the air. It was literally like a dragon’s breath from a movie, pouring down on them.
“Bl, black metal room, defense fire… .”
The Screamers floating in the air were turned to dust before they could finish their words. The Screamers following behind were chattering as they saw this.
“Special Objective A. Confirmed use of high-risk psychic breath.”
“Recording.”
As expected, they were recording their battle with me. Perhaps that information would be immediately transmitted to their leader, ‘Pira Eleven’.
‘doesn’t care.’
The number of traits I have is not just one or two. And some of them can have their effects changed at will.
‘Sometimes what you know is worse than what you don’t know.’
Deliberately revealing information to the enemies, I continued to unleash my psychic breath. Purple flames engulfed the densely grown trees, but the Screamers dodged them well.
“Improved cluster bombs have been confirmed to be ineffective. Replaced with high-velocity impact bombs.”
“Confirm replacement order.”
Meanwhile, other Screamers were also approaching us. When they were close enough to be seen with the naked eye, the Screamers prepared to fire. Their legs twisted and deformed into something resembling the barrels of an RPG-7.
Then their guns are pointed straight at my head.
A flash of lightning in the dark forest gave me a sharp pain in my head.
‘It’s a high-velocity impact grenade.’
Just as Megacorp uses plasma launchers to deal with heavily armored enemies, Star Union also has a similar weapon.
HSB (Heavy Shock Blaster), also known as Shocker, is a weapon developed to deal with heavily armored bio-weapons such as Megacorp’s Hulk mutants, and boasts considerable lethality.
Because instead of penetrating the enemy, the shocker’s bullets cause a super-vibration upon impact, damaging the inside of the armor. For example, if a creature with thick armor like a mountain crawler is hit by a high-velocity impact bullet, the outside may be fine, but the inside will be completely ruined.
Because of that, I too felt a sharp pain in the area I was hit, even though there was not a single scratch on it.
‘I responded in a smart way, though.’
Unless they’ve got thousands of high-velocity impact grenades inside them, they can’t kill me. Even if my insides are shattered, I have many ways to quickly recover, including regenerative properties.
‘Besides, shockers have their drawbacks.’
Then they fire another high-velocity impact grenade. Along with the toxic smoke, chunks of alloy fly in from all directions, trying to smash my head.
But none of the high-velocity impact bullets reached my head.
“An incomprehensible situation has occurred.”
“It is assumed that the laws of physics have been distorted due to enormous psychic power. Analysis required.”
Bullets float in the air as if time has stopped. Those sensitive to psychic powers will know that the bullets are caught in a net of invisible thread.
“I really hate kids who hit older kids!”
The owner of the transparent net waves his tentacles vigorously.
The high-velocity impact bullets changed direction and flew towards their owners, where they began to explode. The Screamers also did not expect this and were blown up without being able to dodge.
Meanwhile, I took out two cards to confuse them.
‘It’s time to get to work. Everyone, come out.’
The tooth fairy nest, located just before the dorsal carapace begins on the tail, and the host of the human-faced insect that nests on the back when not in a hunting position were both active.
Fleas with huge teeth tear open their nests on my body and fall to the floor. On my back, human-faced insects with intelligent faces and insect bodies tear open their membranes that resemble human faces.
‘The tooth fairies distract them, and the human-faced insects keep the commander-level entities in check.’
The insect army moves under my command.
“Enemy entities multiply.”
“Small in size. Cannot be countered by high-velocity impact bullets.”
The Tooth Fairies traversed the snow-shrouded battlefield, latching onto the legs of the Screamers and gnawing at their metal frames with their hard, aircraft-destroying teeth.
“Ignore small objects. Instead of shooting, rush into close combat… Giggle?!”
The commander-level PS models located at the rear flinch after being attacked by the Inmyeon-Bugs while giving orders. This is because their entire bodies are paralyzed by the sound waves emitted by the Inmyeon-Bugs.
‘If it was a machine, it wouldn’t have worked, but not with them.’
Mutant Screamers are a fusion of biological and mechanical. Although they are controlled by machines, they still have hearing, making them susceptible to paralyzing sound waves.
“Presumed to be an attack targeting hearing. Disable all hearing functions… Geek!”
[Zuzuzu zuuzu zuuzu zuuzu zuuzu zuuzu (targeting the paralyzed and fallen ones)]
Mutant Screamers can self-destruct if necessary. If their functions are not disabled, they could explode at any moment and harm us.
Adhai, who heard my waves, quickly unleashed his psychic breath. The guy who specialized in firing in rapid succession quickly cleaned up the incapacitated Screamers.
“Special Objective B has been confirmed to possess a special defensive shield.”
“Cannot be disarmed with existing equipment. You must aim for an area without a shield.”
They also waited for Adhai to expose his head to shoot his breath, but it was no use.
The guy’s head is protected by red armor. No matter what weapon you bring, you can’t break Adhai’s head.
Of course, there were quite a few Screamers that tried to target my body or wings, but each time I spread my wings and protected them.
That means the Screamers are unlikely to win unless they kill us all at the same time.
‘That goes for us too.’
I expected there to be hundreds of them when they attacked from the sky, but as expected, there were too many of them.
Moreover, as time goes by, their response capabilities are getting better and better.
Right now, we are unable to respond because of the continuous barrage of unique attacks coming from this side, but there is a limit to how much we can do. If they find a strategy, we will also suffer great damage.
‘If you decide to blow yourself up, I won’t be able to respond.’
So, we should slowly move to the nest.
I moved a little bit while dealing with them. Some of the Screamers gave up shooting and approached me.
Each time, I responded by pulling out my erosion tentacles. Long, snake-like tentacles shot out from my back and struck them. Then, one Screamer luckily avoided the tentacles and entered.
The moment he aimed to shoot No. 26 with a cluster bomb, a blue energy bullet flew from above the tree. Screamer, whose head was blown off by the bullet, collapsed on the spot.
“Anyone who touches the main controller will not be forgiven.”
“Enemies on the tree, need to be restrained.”
“Confirmed to be a discarded PS model. Estimated to be in the 100s. Weaknesses identified.”
They changed their target to PS-111 instead of me and started to pour bullets into the trees. In the meantime, I ran towards the nest with Adhai on my tail.
“The enemy’s movement path has been predicted, and they are moving towards Gallagon’s nest.”
“We have to stop them before they join… giggle.”
The Screamers, who quickly figured out my intentions, tried to attack me. However, they were unable to properly stop me due to the interference of the Tooth Fairies and the Human-faced Bugs under my command, as well as the active restraint of the children.
“Main Controller Pira Eleven’s orders have been revised. Retreat and regroup. Additional countermeasures being prepared.”
“check.”
As if orders had come down from the leader, the Screamers stopped chasing us.
During that gap, PS-111 and I escaped to the cliff where the nest was.
As soon as I left the forest, I spread my wings without hesitation on the cliff I saw. The insects that had stopped their attempts and flew in also clung to my back and returned to where they had come from.
“thank you.”
I glided into one of the nest entrances, holding onto the PS-111 that was following behind me with its tail pincers.
Not long after setting foot in the cave, a gallagoon emerged from within. It was Sha Belmarg, the skinny white gallagoon that had first risen up in rebellion during the fight against Odd Grad.
“Sha Belmaag” “Great Adhai” “Welcome”
The guy was in bad shape by no means. His wings were torn in places, and all of his hind legs had been blown off, so he had to crawl on his front legs.
Adhai, who saw that sight, shot a thought wave containing his bewildered emotions.
“What happened?” “What happened?”
“Smelly Enemy” “Raid” “White Kindred” “Power” “Invasion” “Barrenly” “Drove” “Kindred” “Multitude” “Death”
“What about Nel Germa?”
“Nel Germa” “Injury” “Serious” “Activity” “Unable”
Gallagon is an important fighter. We can’t lose him like this.
I took up Sha Belmag with my combat arm.
[Zuzuzu (guide me)]
“Road” “Over there”
Following the guy’s guidance, we entered the dragon’s nest.
The entire cliff seemed to be a dragon’s nest, so the cave was very long and had many forks in the path. The width of the passage was wide enough for me to walk around without any problems, and there were minerals here and there that absorbed psychic power, so it wasn’t dark at all.
To be honest, it was such a beautiful place that I would want to just leisurely observe it if it weren’t for the emergency.
After passing through such a long and complex natural maze, an open space appeared. The light of the minerals, sparkling like starlight, illuminated numerous fallen gallagons.
“Everyone” “Injured” “Deep!”
It was just as Adhai said.
In the center of the cave was a shallow lake, which was filled with Gallagon’s blood, so much so that it looked like a lake of blood.
‘It won’t work.’
There was only one way to treat this many Gallagons. I put down Sha Belmarg and crawled into the lake.
Soon after, black mucus began to pour out of my body.
