373. Christmas Side Story – Adam’s Christmas

The year that became Adam’s last Christmas.

Adam, a high school student, opened his eyes wide and watched his fellow countrymen entering their exclusive area.

The work just ended.

People came in with a fair amount of noise and shook off the snow.

Most of them were laughing, and some had blood splattered on their clothes.

But no one paid any attention to the fresh bloodstains on their clothes. They were just happily adjusting their clothes and getting ready to relax.

Some people stuck their heads out and waited for someone.

Their leader, who must enter through the open door… .

“Lin!”

Hildebert’s voice was heard.

“What are you doing!”

Ah. I’m getting scolded again.

“Why don’t you come out quickly?!”

Those gathered turned their heads toward the door.

Then he looked out the door and burst into laughter. Adam couldn’t hear Hildebert and Lin’s conversation because of their laughter. It seemed that Hilde was nagging again and Lin was making excuses.

Adam craned his neck to check the entrance.

But in the end, I didn’t see what Lin did.

Hildebert came inside alone, leaving Lin behind.

Eye-catching white, spiky hair.

Dazzling golden eyes.

He didn’t have a sword on his waist.

Adam knew that Hildebert often left his sword with the Delthei priestess whenever he went out to work. His sword was so eye-catching that he couldn’t wear it, especially when he was working.

I didn’t know exactly what that ‘thing’ was, though.

I can only guess… .

Yvonne came in.

“I’ll send you back to your room quietly.”

“Okay. Please.”

“What are you going to do about manners?”

Yvonne asks.

He was a strict and honest knight. Adam always had a hard time with Yvonne. As he grew up, he got scolded less often, and I knew he was a good person.

He didn’t have the courage to approach her and talk to her, so he waited for Yvonne to finish talking to Hildebert.

Yvonne nodded her head once while talking quietly with Hildebert.

The knight twisted his body.

And as if he had been given some order, he walked down the opposite hallway without hesitation.

A loyal subordinate who disappears from sight.

As soon as he left, Nolgi showed up.

“Captain.”

The unique, hard pronunciation of Nol tickled my ears.

“From now on, all incoming visitation requests will be declined.”

“Who’s here?”

“yes.”

“Who is it?”

“I am human.”

Hilde appeared dumbfounded at the short answer.

Adam, who was eavesdropping, was also dumbfounded.

Then it must be human.

But Nol looked confidently into Hildebert’s eyes, who asked back, ‘Are you joking?’

“Today is a public holiday for humans.”

“… I know. That’s why you went out to work today.”

“I don’t think it’s necessary to deal with such an impolite person.”

Igor Nol was quite bold in a different sense.

Adam burst into laughter as soon as he heard the short-haired man’s confident answer.

I guess he just doesn’t want to make Hildebert work any more.

It was a tone of speech that could easily be misunderstood by others. Of course, Hildebert, who seemed to know Nol’s side well, let out a small laugh.

“Just tell me your name, then. I should at least leave a message to apologize for not being able to welcome you.”

A name being spat out. Adam watched Hildebert nod as he took out his cell phone from his coat pocket and tapped the screen with his finger.

He also watched his favorites, including You and Igor, brushing snow off their black coats.

As they were coming in, the black-haired men found Adam, talking to each other.

They each smiled in their own way.

“Adam.”

Igor shouted.

“Why are you staying here? Aren’t you going to a party or something?”

“I’m not the type of person who always goes to parties.”

“What about a date?”

“Becky went to see her parents. So did I. Merry Christmas, Igor.”

“Merry Christmas.”

Igor stood and gave a brief greeting.

“Are you having a good date?”

Adam smiled broadly.

Igor smiled back. It was a smile that made even those who saw it feel good.

Igor is like a strong older brother to Adam.

The person who gave Adam the most advice when he was a teenager.

And the man next to Igor was an excellent career counselor.

Youga laughed quietly.

“Adam.”

“You. Merry Christmas.”

“Are you following the class well?”

A person you can’t help but visit every time exam period approaches.

Adam smiled proudly at the man he could practically call his tutor.

“You saw my report card last time, right?”

Youu smiled faintly.

Adam liked You’s smile. It was a smile that You rarely showed to others. He knew You would hear, “You change when you’re in front of Adam.”

It’s just a little bit of pride of mine.

Adam always paid attention to his studies because he wanted to see that proud smile.

It was fortunate that he was born with a certain amount of study skills. Unlike swordsmanship, he was not without talent in academics. If he worked hard, he would get a satisfactory grade.

But fencing couldn’t do that.

The three sword masters who were famous from birth all gave up teaching him the sword.

At first, that fact was so depressing.

Now that his head has grown to a certain size, Adam is glad that he has no talent for swordsmanship, because he now knows that once he becomes the Sword Master’s disciple, he will no longer be able to like and admire them with ease.

So Adam was satisfied with his present state.

By admiring and loving three men.

The generals he respects.

The softest of them all finally perceives Adam’s gaze.

The man smiled broadly and walked towards Adam.

“Adam.”

The smell of a cool winter breeze wafted in.

“Are you having a good Christmas?”

Adam smiled broadly.

“Well, that’s true. Is Hilde finished with her work now?”

“Right. Why? What do you want to say?”

“yes.”

He grabbed Hildebert’s arm, who hadn’t even changed his clothes.

“If there’s nothing urgent, please come for a moment.”

Hildebert did not resist.

As always, I was just dragged along wherever he led me.

The inspector follows Adam, turns his head, and shouts, “Good job! I’ll go first!”

Adam heard the adults laugh, shout that he was popular, shout that they knew, and shout, ‘Adam, Merry Christmas!’

“Merry Christmas!”

After answering loudly, he hurried inside.

He did not answer Hildebert’s question, which asked with a smile, “What’s so urgent?”

Walk as if you are running through a house or an empty space.

I walked down the winding hallway, got on and off the elevator, and jumped into a dark, warm place.

Only after I had stepped on the crimson carpet did I look back at Hildebert.

A movie theater with only two audience members.

Hildebert stood at the entrance of the cinema, his eyes wide.

“Kyle? Ray?”

“I did something.”

Kyle, who was lazily leaning back in his chair with his legs stretched out, turned his head and smiled.

“I was just trying to bring you here. I was wondering why you wouldn’t listen to me, kid.”

“Is it hard to see your face these days?”

Ray, sitting next to Kyle, leaned forward and looked at Hildebert.

“You worked on Christmas too? Humans are so pitiful.”

Adam looked at the two Sword Masters with a satisfied smile.

I also watched Hildebert approach them, blinking.

A man with long white hair walks towards them with a beautiful smile on his lips.

“yes.”

Hildebert responded calmly and took off his coat.

“You guys have been stuck here all day, I guess? Judging by your clothes.”

“You’re running around too much. Take it easy.”

“It’s Christmas~.”

Kyle turned his gaze to the screen and answered, and Ray stretched and replied.

“On a day like this, let’s just forget everything and rest. Isn’t it a sacred day to spend with family?”

Pick a smiling Hildebert.

A man with his snow-soaked coat draped over the empty backrest sat down next to Ray.

Hildebert asked.

“Nothing happened while I was away, right?”

“Not at all. You weren’t hurt or anything, were you?”

“A sword master has pride.”

Hildebert answered lightly.

“What could possibly get you hurt?”

Adam knew that their relationship wasn’t what it used to be.

It’s not that our relationship has deteriorated. It’s not that we’ve become neglectful or awkward with each other.

However, they were hiding more and more things from each other. On the surface, they were still willing to die for each other, and in reality, they would be.

At some point, something began to creep into their relationship.

And so a gap was created in the relationship.

Adam was not yet an adult and did not know what had created the gap.

No one told anyone, and the parties involved tried hard to hide it.

So even after this birthday passes and I become an adult, I won’t be able to figure out what it is.

So he decided to do what he could.

A clever strategy that took advantage of the fact that all three Sword Masters were weak against him.

Adam forced them to watch the same movie.

“You should watch it diligently and leave a review.”

Adam walked out of the cinema and gave a strong warning.

“You can’t sleep. Okay?”

Sword Masters each showing their own unique reactions.

Adam smiled as he saw Kyle looking up at the screen, snickering as if he found their audacity funny, and Ray suggesting that they go out and watch together.

He waved at Hilde, who seemed to have guessed his intentions and gave him an apologetic smile.

“Have fun watching!”

He added as he shouted at the entrance and closed the heavy theater door.

“Merry Christmas!”

A boy who returns to his parents at a brisk pace after locking up the three Sword Masters in one place.

A big smile appeared on his lips as he turned around and ran.

Adam ran down the hallway, humming a carol, anticipating the gift his parents had prepared for him.

This was his last Christmas.

A peaceful evening filled with warm affection.

Those happy times.

Merry Christmas.
