Black Badger - Chapter 377
Only Noblemtl
377. Ice Dragon (2)
I was sleeping again.
Blood rushed to his face.
Carl sticking his head out from the second floor. Ricardo standing next to my bed for some reason, and Kairos and Yoon looking at me while raising their upper bodies.
It’s burdensome.
Fortunately, when I raised my upper body by hitting the bed with my elbows, people looked away from me.
“sorry.”
He mumbled an apology.
“Did I sleep talk? Did that wake you all up?”
“I didn’t make a loud noise.”
Carl, sitting on the second floor, said.
“Grow up.”
“No. I slept enough.”
“It’s 6 a.m. If you’re not going to sleep, lie down for an hour and a half.”
Yoon muttered as he lay back down on the bed.
Her eyes were already closed, perhaps because she was tired. Her face was bathed in the light of a small, battery-operated night light.
The shooter spoke with his eyes closed.
“Turn off the night lights as you go up to the second floor.”
Ricardo tapped me on the shoulder, turned off the night light, and went upstairs.
I didn’t have time to ask anything. I turned my head to ask Kairos, but he was yawning and I couldn’t get the words out.
A servant who yawns, then laughs and lies down.
I had no choice but to lie down in the end.
I thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep, but I lay down and fell asleep again, and only woke up after hearing the alarm.
It wasn’t an alarm that went off in the men’s bedroom.
It looks like Ami brought an analog alarm clock from headquarters.
“Choi Ami. Turn off the alarm.”
Yoon knocked on the wall.
Badgers are getting up and running.
It was a place with terrible soundproofing. I could hear people moving around in the next room and Ami turning off the alarm.
The cool air enveloping my body.
I absolutely have to go out today.
I started the second day with a resolution.
***
“But how did you suppress the discontent, Commander?”
Ami was on morning duty.
I asked, dipping bread into the warm pumpkin soup that Ami had made. We were sitting at the table, all bundled up.
Seniors looking up from their steaming plates.
It was Karl who answered.
“We were really devastated as a group.”
hmm?
“It seems like you’ve let out all the bitterness you’ve been holding back.”
“Did you break the badgers?”
“It was really cleaned up.”
Amy nodded and added.
“Oh, I was so excited that I stood there with my head down and broke. I wish my brother hadn’t broken it. That Hilde was dragging the person she was holding out for out.”
“Oh. Did Yoon clean that up?”
“If not me, then who would clean it up?”
Yoon replied fatly.
“I missed seeing Tvein because of that. It would have been a sight to see.”
“Is Senior Tvein also broken?”
“Everyone there was just broken.”
Sophia said absentmindedly.
“It feels like something that has been building up has exploded.”
Why does the anger in your voice seem to have faded a bit?
Even though she was talking about Yehyun, there was no special emotion in Sophia’s voice. It was hard to tell if she was pretending to be Taeyeon or if her emotions had softened a bit.
Of course, I didn’t ask out loud which one it was.
Instead, he swallowed the warm bread and asked.
“What did you say?”
“I told you to do your share as much as Hildebert and complain.”
omg.
I opened my mouth in surprise.
The knife continued to explain.
“You also said that if you were as skilled as Hildebert, you wouldn’t have cared so much about him.”
“…oh my god.”
“I set up a Q&A session because there may be questions about the hiring process, and I also said that I am not here to listen to your complaints.”
Ami said, sipping her cocoa.
I was frozen in place, not knowing what to eat.
and.
I’m glad I got up and left in anger.
The atmosphere must have been completely ruined.
“You also asked me why I was the one deciding whether to trust a certain Badger or not…. You said that I would have more information than you, right? Or are you questioning my judgment, but I’m not tactful enough to understand?”
“I’m scared.”
“At the end, I asked him what exactly was wrong.”
Ami finished explaining coolly.
“Unusual hiring? Badger is fully qualified and has actually been working in an exemplary manner, and it’s not like there hasn’t been any special hiring before, so what’s the problem? Shinwon, who is not human? He stood on the human side in the first war and I judged that there was no possibility of betrayal, so what’s the problem with that?”
“Did you raise your voice too…?”
“That’s why I was more scared.”
Ami licked the cocoa from her lips.
“And it wasn’t just because of Hilde, but because it seemed like something was being said. I said I wouldn’t say anything this time about the foolishness of believing the rumors going around inside.”
“Senior Tvein, you must have really been dazzled.”
That person must have gone there to complain to Ye-Hyeon.
He must have been in a terrible mood because instead of properly venting his complaints, he just got mixed up in the crowd and got crushed.
Carl seemed to understand what I meant and snickered.
“So it broke for the second time.”
“yes?”
“As soon as the leaders and Mr. Joo left, Tvein took control of the lower ranks.”
This is incredible.
This time, I was so shocked that I forgot to eat. When I made a face like, “What on earth is going on here?”, Carl smiled broadly.
“It was basically just venting my anger.”
“Thank you for your hard work….”
I clearly came to defend myself, but I muttered to myself as I saw the Badgers get scolded by their superiors and even get yelled at by their seniors along with others.
“It must have been a difficult evening.”
“It’s not something I should complain about in front of you.”
After speaking calmly, Karl began to eat breakfast.
As if his words had triggered something, people began to look at my complexion one by one.
As I was smiling bitterly, Ami added, putting down her empty cup of cocoa.
“That’s right. And honestly, it felt refreshing.”
The little senior got up from his seat and poured me a cup of cocoa.
Meanwhile, others are getting up from their seats.
It was obvious that he was preparing to go out. I also got up in a hurry to avoid being defeated, but my chin was blocked by Ricardo’s hand.
“You can just sit back and relax~.”
“Oh, senior. You are really going too far.”
“Someone has to stay anyway. If something happens, they have to go to the communications room and contact headquarters. If there’s a problem with the generator, they have to deal with it. We need someone to do the dishes, take out the trash, and prepare lunch.”
I opened my eyes wide as I listened to Yoon’s dry words pouring out.
There really is a lot to do.
I can’t complain then. It’s not like you’re leaving me for nothing.
but….
“I don’t have the knowledge to deal with problems that may arise during development….”
“I will tell you the properties, so follow me.”
Yoon made the bombshell announcement and walked out of the restaurant.
“You’re not so stupid as to not be able to memorize the response plan.”
So I really learned the basics of generator emergency response.
Luckily, there was a manual that Yoon had brought. He said that he had roughly written it down so that even a novice who didn’t know the number 1 law of thermodynamics or anything else could follow it.
In fact, the explanation was so clear that I held onto the manual like it was my lifeline.
If the generators fail, we have to evacuate the base immediately. It’s our lifeline. If there’s a problem with the portal and we can’t evacuate, this place will become a graveyard, Yoon said darkly.
“Don’t you think it would be safer if I leave and you stay?”
“If there’s any chance of trouble arising, I’ll stay and you’ll be kicked out.”
The shooter replied calmly.
“It doesn’t matter for a few days. If we stay longer, it’s a different story. Just finish up your work by the time we get back.”
The shooter, speaking firmly, listed a list of things I needed to do.
If there was any time left, I decided on some things to do. I checked the supplies at the base and selected and collected usable items.
“Make sure you have something to eat for lunch.”
It’s not like I’m that bad at cooking.
Last time I caught and grilled a whale, didn’t everyone eat it in moderation?
Anyway, this time too, the seniors left me behind and went out onto the glacier that was as dark as night. It was morning, but since there was no sunlight, it felt like it was still night.
Badgers leave the base wearing clothes weighing 10kg and carrying flashlights.
After seeing them off, I went back to the restaurant to do the dishes.
On the second day, I stayed at the base all day and worked overtime.
Still, I felt a lot better because I had a job to do.
If you keep your body busy and think about what you have to do, you may not be able to get any sleep.
“Hilde is a housekeeper.”
Ami came back four hours later with a runny nose and her eyes widened when she saw the trash and items I had cleaned up.
“Was the hut organized like this?”
“It’s very narrow there.”
Evenly sliced roast pork to be distributed to the seniors.
“If there’s anything you need, please let me know. I’ll search through the supplies to find that. There are more useful items than I thought.”
The second day passed so peacefully.
***
The third day was similar.
The difference is that the seniors who had been working diligently for three days finally reached Bingryong.
The day ended with just setting up a bamboo pole near Bingryong. No significant action was taken to wake Bingryong. It is said that the blizzard became too strong the moment they arrived near Bingryong.
“It seems like there’s always a snowstorm around Bingryong.”
“I don’t think I can wake him up by throwing something at him.”
The siblings explained while drinking coffee.
I raised my head as soon as I heard them.
“Should I go and have a sword fight?”
“The glacier splits apart when it blows, the bamboo we planted falls through the gaps, and we get lost in the darkness?”
He lowered his head sadly at Yoon’s rebuttal that came flying at him.
There is not a single word that does not make sense, so I cannot refute it… .
He stirred the soup with a ladle gloomily.
Sophia approached, taking off her gloves.
“The apron suits you well.”
She offered a little comfort.
I answered gloomily.
“Thank you… What should I make for you tomorrow morning?”
“Coffee, toast, and butter.”
“I am cocoa!”
“I’ll eat breakfast, go out, and wake you up around noon.”
Yoon declared, putting down his cup.
Badgers who stop eating or drinking something.
Dry black gaze searched Kairos’ orange eyes.
“If you bring me a megaphone, I’m confident I can shout.”
“yes.”
It is said that using a bomb or approaching and stabbing it is too risky, so they decided to wake up the ice dragon by making noise.
It was one of the options from the beginning, and it seems that Kairos was also judged to be effective.
I’m going to shout it out in the imperial language.
Well, the dragon doesn’t have bad ears.
The sound of the wind will always be around Bingryong like ASMR.
“You should just shout louder.”
“The ice dragon is huge!”
Ami shouted next to Kairos, who was speaking optimistically.
“It looks like there’s a big hill! It’s even more so because my body is curled up.”
On the third night, Kairos woke me up again.
The second day, I think I slept well. Fortunately, on the third day, only Kairos was awake. I couldn’t tell if the other seniors were pretending to sleep because they were worried about me, or if they were all really tired and didn’t wake up.
Anyway, the minister who gently shook me awake smiled brightly and immediately crawled back into bed.
‘Sorry.’
As he whispered, Kairos pulled his hand out from under the blanket and waved it around.
The fourth day, I wake up again to the loud alarm sound coming from the next room.
It was the day to awaken Bingryong.
***
The seniors who had eaten breakfast went out with the walkie-talkie.
With a word to contact me if anything happens.
I was ordered to stay in the portal zone, ready to draw my sword, in case anything should happen.
So, after doing some morning cleaning or something, the car was in the portal zone.
Ami’s voice came over the walkie-talkie.
[It’s gone!]
I opened my eyes to hear a voice that was a mixture of surprise and bewilderment.
“yes?”
[The hill is gone! The ice dragon disappeared in an instant! It was definitely here 3 seconds ago!]
“Huh? Where on earth is that big thing going?”
[Huh! It’s gone! There was a sudden blizzard and it suddenly disappeared!]
[I didn’t go far.]
As if trying to calm me and my seniors down, Kairos’ voice suddenly interrupted.
[Nearby…]
thud
The sound of something falling.
It happened in the hallway.
The radio was cut off at the same time as that heavy sound. I raised my head and stared down the hallway without moving.
Something came.
Although I didn’t feel it, my sharpened senses did not disappear.
There’s something in the hallway… .
Ice dragon?
I walked to the door, my footsteps quiet.
After I finished preparing to move, I looked around the hallway.
A hallway with only one light on to save electricity.
There was someone standing at the end.
“…child?”
