Black Badger - Chapter 433
Only Noblemtl
433. Understanding and Misunderstanding (2)
Kyle woke up and was faced with a harsh reality.
Those who had been waiting for him while he was in a coma for decades.
A body with no muscle left, unable to even walk properly. Naturally, his sword skills were rusty. The fact that he was defeated. Ray, who burned the Earth and humans while going on a rampage, turned to ash and collapsed.
Even the one who stabbed Ray with his sword while he was on the rampage was not one of his own kind.
Ever since I started to fight with Hildebert, I was suspicious. Why would he come to a place where both of our lives were at stake, holding a sword that wasn’t mine? Just like me, Hilde tried to keep her sword away from her body as much as possible.
It was strange, but I didn’t think too deeply about it. I just didn’t have the capacity to do that.
Besides, it wasn’t a completely unreasonable situation. Hilde had brought Yvonne’s sword.
I thought he had taken his subordinate’s sword out on purpose to seek revenge, but that wasn’t the case.
Hilde handed the sword over to the humans.
The sword he uses to inspect is like a fragment of his own soul.
To think that he put it directly into human hands to stab Ray.
“What if the three of them died together on the same day at the same time, or if Ray came back to life together?”
Once it came to this, there was no turning back.
“He even taught me swordsmanship so that I could kill my friend.”
In this situation, who else would be qualified and capable of taking revenge on Ray?
Ah, but his people also dreamed of revenge. They had kept their burning emotions alive for generations. Surrounded by such people, it was easy to vent their emotions when they woke up. Those born while he was sleeping are said to have grown up listening to their parents sing songs of revenge.
‘I told the children they could just run around and play, but they were all deeply hurt.’
This was Valdez’s explanation.
It didn’t help that one of the Sword Masters they had looked up to and relied on had passed away, and another was in a coma.
‘There is no need for the captain to accept all those emotions.’
Kyle, who had just woken up and had been assessing the situation for a day, let out a sigh after hearing Valdez’s words.
‘You’ve all worked hard to take care of the Sword Master, who is practically a corpse, and to survive without starving.’
‘I never doubted for a moment that you would open your eyes.’
The magician spoke while kneeling.
Seth, one of his favorite subordinates, even grabbed his hand and squeezed it, thanking him for coming back.
Kyle, who had been holding back tears considering the special nature of the situation, eventually said something.
‘Stop crying, kid. It’s disgusting.’
‘He couldn’t even walk properly because his muscles were all gone, but he was still alive.’
Hecate, on the other hand, laughed heartily.
‘Thank goodness, my brain cells haven’t degenerated.’
A land where only the same people live.
I was worried that it would be miserable, but it wasn’t as hopeless as I had expected. Instead, Kyle felt a strange sense of nostalgia as he came out of the building while being supported.
Wasn’t this how we lived before we bowed down to the empire?
It was even more prosperous than then. Unlike then, the land they settled on was fertile and the remnants of civilization left behind by humans were quite useful.
Although they did not live as well as modern civilization on Earth, they were born and raised in a place where there was no modern civilization.
High and clear sky.
Crops swaying in the wind.
The air is sweet with no trace of cars left.
If there were no humans, it was to the point where I thought they would just calm their compatriots’ anger and let them live in comfort. Of course, Kyle knew that was a ridiculous idea. The disgusting elders would never forget them.
Besides, I had absolutely no intention of forgetting anything right away.
If Ray were alive, the story might have been different.
So the story returns to Ray, who has turned to ashes and died.
Ray is….
“heartbreak.”
Valdez suddenly appeared at the window.
“what.”
Kyle wasn’t surprised.
“Take a rest. You’re resting.”
“I have something to say.”
Kyle nodded, signaling for her to finish speaking.
Valdez pushed up his glasses and looked into his face for a long time.
The subordinate who keeps standing outside the window… .
“Come in?”
“I don’t like that.”
“Well, okay. Do whatever you want.”
“heartbreak.”
Valdez called him.
The man looked at Kyle, who raised an eyebrow, and spoke seriously.
“It seems like there have been turning points since the captain woke up.”
Why Abu all of a sudden?
Kyle snorted.
“Even if you burn a dragon, I have nothing to give you.”
“I’m being serious. I don’t think we’ve talked about this before. Just when we were about to lose our way after the Great Wizard’s plan disappeared, a new plan emerged. Before the Master woke up, all we could do was barely survive…”
“What else is as great as that?”
“I have never once regretted being loyal to you, Captain.”
Valdez ignored Kyle’s dull voice and said what he wanted to say.
He was used to Seth’s unsolicited compliments, but Valdez’s flattery was rare. Kyle straightened up his upper body, which had been leaning against the large pillow.
“Why are you suddenly like that?”
“…I am asking you to help me remain loyal.”
The wizard’s voice suddenly became smaller.
“Shouldn’t the living live?”
Kyle’s mouth grew longer.
He looked at the wizard quietly with a smile, then ran his hand through Valdez’s hair.
“Oh, what are you doing!”
“You’ve grown a lot too.”
“Do you understand what I mean?”
Valdez glared at him, straightening his crooked glasses.
“I am absolutely serious!”
embrace.
But Kyle had no other answer for his favorite wizard.
So I chuckled and leaned back on the bed.
Valdez let out a heavy sigh, as if he had expected this kind of reaction.
“And this is a bit weird. I heard that Paves is going to come out with a partner in Core 5.”
“There were no particular problems?”
“yes.”
Good.
One small worry was removed. They would sometimes insert straws into the core, but sometimes they would send an experienced person into the core, which was possible because they could magically hide their sixth sense.
However, since erasing one’s sixth sense does not mean there is no possibility of being discovered by the Black Badgers or the Elders, the news of Paves’ safe return was very welcome news.
I’ll have to go in and decide later whether I did a good job.
“The collaborator who comes along is also said to be very trustworthy.”
“Even if it’s an untrustworthy guy, if you make a pact, that’s the end of it.”
Kyle responded coolly to Valdez’s explanation.
“Walk yourself.”
Valdez nodded as he was instructed.
“That’s what I was thinking.”
“When will you arrive?”
I was informed of my subordinate’s arrival schedule.
Kyle listened to the report without interruption. As always, there was no part of the process that he paid special attention to.
The Covenant was unbreakable unless a wizard of the Archmage level arrived. So Kyle could face his allies with ease, or force them into his core.
I wasn’t very fond of wizards when I was in the empire.
Since coming to Earth, Kyle has come to fully understand why the Emperor has been so intent on keeping the wizards trapped in the Zodiac.
“Lastly, since you are resting, I thought about telling you tomorrow, but I am afraid that you will be upset if I report late, so I will just report it right away.”
“That’s right. What’s going on?”
“An additional menu has arrived from the restaurant.”
Kyle straightened his back.
The word restaurant was a synonym for their most treasured source of information.
A being who stays at the center core and provides better quality information than anyone else.
The menu naturally referred to information, and Kyle reached out the window, but then changed his mind and got out of bed.
Ignoring Valdez’s complaints that he didn’t want to report it because he thought it would be like this, he left the building.
“Give it to me.”
After receiving the document directly from the wizard, he hammered its contents into his head.
Information transmission is done in a fairly analog manner because communication is not possible.
As soon as he finished reading the document, he let out a sigh.
“I guess it’s still not time to move?”
“Yeah. For a while.”
“Thank goodness. Just rest. I’m really afraid of the aftermath of Seth’s death… .”
“Where is the Archmage now?”
Kyle craned his neck, rolling up the paper into a ball and holding it in his hand.
Valdez grumbled, “Oh, Captain!” but I ignored it.
Instead, he turned around and walked through the grounds filled with familiar smells and sounds.
But there was no need to go out of your way to meet the other person.
“I’ll give you a ride.”
A blindfolded blond wizard appeared before my eyes with a burst of flame.
Kyle didn’t even blink an eye despite the blazing heat.
Instead, he silently held out his hand that had been holding the paper and looked at Myhrvold’s braided hair.
If you entered the core without permission, you would have been cut by Hilde’s sword.
In the meantime, it seems like her hair has grown out magically.
Hwaaaaak!
The paper placed on the palm of my hand caught fire in an instant.
Kyle didn’t move his hand until the paper had turned to ash.
“It looks like we have some new information.”
Myerbold smirked at the knight who was looking at him coldly.
“Is there any new news about the World Tree’s traitor?”
“This is more useful information.”
Kyle answered shortly.
“Listen and take it to heart.”
Myerbold listened quietly.
He didn’t interrupt Kyle’s explanation or say anything with his characteristic arrogance. He just listened to the story, floating in the air with his hands behind his back.
After completing the information delivery, Kyle nodded heavily when asked, “Have you learned everything?”
“There will be no disruption to work, no matter what happens.”
“thank you.”
Kyle answered with sincerity in his voice.
“Please take care of me until that moment.”
Myhrbold had a wry smile on his lips.
And then he nodded again, as if he knew how much weight his request carried.
But he didn’t maintain that attitude until the end.
As soon as the matter was resolved, Kyle nodded and turned away.
The wizard followed behind the knight who was advancing with brisk strides.
“Unlike the two knight commanders, Sir Reneur was always polite to the wizards.”
Then he starts talking nonsense.
Kyle didn’t look back.
But he didn’t stop the Archmage from following him, lighting fires on the dry ground. He knew that if he coldly replied that he was busy, the arrogant old nobleman would give up his seat.
“Didn’t the second son of the Reneur family really like magic?”
That’s right.
“That is why Sir Ray Reneur was the knight with the highest understanding of magic. He was a true sword master. He knew the law and manners. I have never seen a knight as great as him.”
“I know.”
“Why did you run wild?”
The wizard asked.
Because Ray had to defend the branch.
It was a strategic location, Kyle remembered. It was important to both the enemy and themselves, and both sides were fighting for their lives. Ray was risking his life to win, and the humans were pouring in dozens of units and ammunition.
What would have happened if the humans at that time had not taken Hilde’s sword?
I once thought about that too.
But that wouldn’t have changed the fact that Ray was dead.
“His sword?”
Kyle let out a long sigh after hearing the wizard’s question.
“It’s broken. I’m keeping it.”
“It’s a good sword. It’s a treasured sword that has been passed down through generations in the earl’s family.”
Myerbold remained silent for a moment, as if lost in thought, before opening his mouth again.
It seemed like he had followed me because he wanted to say this.
“I heard that this sword has a legend that it once gave off an aura long ago. That’s why it has been treasured and cherished for generations.”
Kyle stopped in his tracks and turned around.
Myerbold also looked him in the face.
It seemed as if eyes hidden behind the curtain were watching him.
“Auror is not a concept that exists only in legends.”
The Archmage said.
“When I was very young, before the Emperor you served was even born, I saw a sword energy that I assumed was an aura.”
These were the words of a being who did not care about lifespan before eternal life was discovered.
“So, if you want to complete your revenge, try to bring out the aura.”
Kyle put his hands in his pockets and looked at the wizard.
He stood there, facing the wind, staring at the opponent with an expressionless face.
Without mentioning the fact that he had a plan in place to get revenge no matter how things turned out.
The knight smiled, thinking that regardless of his hatred for Hildebert, it was a good idea to try to learn Auror.
“Okay, I’ll try.”
It was a smile like a lynx.
