Infinite competition
Notts County entered a never-ending competition system. The starting lineup changed every time in the seven friendly matches, and at least nine players were substituted during the match. The tactical coach gradually refined Notts County’s basic tactics by referring to the tactical changes made by Kishin during the match.
They achieved an excellent record of 4 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss in 7 games. Not only the results, but also the performances shown during the game were truly amazing. They always exploited the opponent’s weaknesses by changing personnel or tactics. Not all changes and substitutions were effective due to the lack of ability of the players, but the club staff and fans saw hope.
The only loss was against Blackburn in the third division. They scored two goals but conceded three and eventually lost. They conceded two goals in the third and fifth minutes of the game and made several substitutions to score two goals to tie the score. However, since the players who were substituted could not return to the game, they were pressured all around in the second half and eventually lost by conceding one goal.
These are friendly matches that showed hope but also showed the shortcomings more clearly. For this, the players and coaches have been holding meetings every evening for three days.
“It’s midfielder Matthew O’Connor’s turn. O’Connor is more attack-minded than defensive. If he plays alongside Alan Smith, who lacks defensive ability, the central defence will be too thin. This is something we must always keep in mind.”
The coaches nodded at Kishin’s words. And they shared their thoughts about O’Connor without holding back. After such a discussion, they decided how to make this player’s training schedule. The main purpose of this meeting is to make an individual schedule for each player. Of course, it is up to each player to keep that schedule.
“Sam Turner needs to focus on expanding his range of motion. He is very reluctant to come out in one-on-one situations and needs to improve that as well. He sometimes makes mistakes when handling aerial balls and needs to focus more on grip strength training.”
When Kishin speaks first, other coaches supplement him. Kishin only talks about the parts he has confirmed during the game, and the coaches even mention the shortcomings they have discovered during training. They comprehensively analyze the weaknesses that need to be overcome in a short period of time and the strengths that show room for improvement, and create a training schedule that is suitable for each individual.
“The last two are simple. Just have Hunter train his shooting skills, and have Gray train his positioning skills for attack, defense, and set-piece situations.”
After three nights of hard work, we were able to deliver individual training schedules to each of the thirty or so players. It is up to each player to decide whether or not to train according to the schedule. However, due to Kishin’s bizarre behavior, most players will probably train hard.
Kishin always plays a 10-minute intrasquad game on the morning of the friendly match. During those 10 minutes, they check the condition and decide the starting lineup for that day. Because of that, none of the players can be confident in their starting position. Even if they do well in several games in a row, if their condition is bad, they may not be able to play in the next game.
### I am the cruel dividing line ###
On August 5th, he will face Coventry City in his first League Two game. Fortunately for him, it is an away game. Notts County’s home ground is small and can only hold 20,000 spectators, but he will have to wear dark trousers when making his managerial debut at home. That is, if he wants to avoid getting caught wet.
The starting lineup and tactics are decided by the tactical coach, and Kishin makes only simple changes before the game. Since all the players were alert and managed their condition, the starting lineup for the first game was not changed by the tactical coach. To hide his nervousness, Kishin showed up at the stadium wearing sunglasses.
The game started with the referee’s whistle. As the game began, Kishin’s mind started to work quickly and he quickly grasped the game situation. Notts County’s tactical coach is very capable. If it weren’t for his loyalty to the club, he would have already moved to a higher level club. In addition, Kishin’s improvisation in the friendly match helped him come up with even better tactics.
Of the five new recruits, Turner has already secured his place as a regular. Despite his young age and lack of experience, he reacts very quickly and is able to catch even the most difficult balls. He shows some shortcomings in handling aerial balls, but he is gradually improving through training.
Antuy is in a fierce competition for the starting position. Antuy is much better in defense, and Matt Tuttle is much better in offense. Since it is the first game, Matt Tuttle, who has already become well-integrated into the team, is starting. Sven was originally scheduled to be a substitute, so the two are sitting next to each other on the bench.
After the start of the game, the home team Coventry continued to attack like a wave for about 10 minutes. It was mainly a method of centering after 7 breakthroughs and attempting a mid-range shot when Notts County’s defense line was pushed back. If it weren’t for Turner’s saves, they would have conceded two goals. Despite the gloomy situation, the players held onto the defense firmly with the belief that Kishin would do something.
Kishin thought about it for about five minutes and finally made up his mind. He knew that his actions were not normal, but he was increasingly convinced that his decision was the right one. The stadium was briefly shaken when the substitution signal came 10 minutes into the game. Antuyi replaced Tuttle as a right fullback.
“Tutu, the opponent’s left winger is in really good condition today. You did well, but I want to win the first game with stability. Do you understand?”
Tuttle chuckled at the comfort of the god.
“Please don’t put a spell on me to wet the bed. Other than that, everything is fine.”
Tuttle faithfully carried out the individual training that Kishin and the coaches had planned. Although his skills did not improve, he was able to show a better performance on the field just by clearly knowing his shortcomings and areas that he needed to improve. After all, there are 46 league games, and if you include other games, it will be over 50 games. There is no need to be anxious about not being able to play in the games.
When Antuy appeared, Coventry’s No. 7 could no longer run wild. Antuy did not care much about the opponent’s breakthrough. When Tuttle had difficulty blocking No. 7, he tried to block the ball going to No. 7, but instead gave him space because of that. Antuy did not care whether No. 7 received the ball or made a breakthrough. He only interfered with the breakthrough, preventing him from shooting or centering.
When the 7th attack was blocked, the central attack was also ineffective. The 7th breakthrough compressed the Notts County defensive line and created space, but when the attack was blocked, the offensive was weakened. Coventry, who had been attacking for about ten minutes, seemed to have lost the method of defense and was helpless against the Notts County attack.
In the 17th minute, striker John Alexandro scored the first goal. Cutter, who had the centering number 7, planned a quick attack, and O’Connor, who received the ball from Cutter, immediately passed it forward. John Alexandro easily shook off the opponent’s slow center back and put the ball between his legs in a one-on-one situation with the keeper.
After 23 minutes, centre-back Karl Dixon headed in a corner kick. It was straight at the goalkeeper, but a Coventry defender ran to clear the ball and collided with the out-of-bounds goalkeeper, sending them both down. It was a free goal.
The Coventry players were flustered by the sudden reversal and were unable to launch a proper attack. After 35 minutes, Noor Hasin, who came on the right wing, scored a goal with a wonderful shot after beating three defenders in succession. The three players did not cooperate in defense, so there was a gap, and Hasin took advantage of the gap and rolled the ball accurately toward the far goal.
There were a few more chances after that, but they couldn’t score more goals because of their lack of finishing. Alessandro went down once in the penalty area, but the referee pretended not to see it. They were lenient on physical contact throughout, and the Notts County players didn’t complain much because they were ahead in the game.
As the second half began, Coventry regained their formation and continued to attack with strong power. The tempo of the attack became faster and faster under the cheers of the home fans, and the defensive movements became more and more rough. However, the referee had no intention of stopping the game despite the rough movements of the Coventry players.
When the situation turned against him, Kishin replaced the striker with Ben Alex. Only O’Connor and Sven were in attack, and the rest of the players focused on defense. Sven scored a goal in the 65th minute of the second half. The Coventry defender, who already had a yellow card on his back, had no choice but to let go of Sven’s coattails at the last crucial moment.
Coventry’s morale hit rock bottom when O’Connor scored another in the 70th minute. The defender passed the ball safely to the goalkeeper, who made a mistake and passed the ball to Sven. Sven dribbled past the defender and shot, but the keeper punched the ball in front of O’Connor. The keeper flew with all his might to punch, so he was lying face down and the goal was wide open.
However, even though they are players in the 4th division, they are definitely professionals. Coventry players continued to strengthen their attacks because they could not show a weak appearance in front of their home fans. However, Turner, who was excited by the opponent’s rough physical fight, displayed 120% of his skills and blocked all of Coventry’s shots.
Antuy, who caught the ball from a corner kick right before the end of the game, shot without even looking at the goal. Luckily, the ball went into the goal after two deflections, and Antuy, unable to contain his excitement, ran across the field.
“Hey, you seem to be more awesome than our African witch doctor.”
Antui was so excited that Gisin couldn’t understand what Antui was saying because he was speaking in French. As Antui was lying on Gisin, the other players started to pile on top of him one by one, making Gisin suffocate. Fortunately, the referee came in time to stop him, so he was able to catch his breath before it was too late.
### I am the cruel dividing line ###
Shingi, who was watching the game situation, was excited and giggling. Although he couldn’t interfere much because of his 3% interference power, Notts County is Shingi’s team.
“Yes, I did a good job distributing my stats. They say good iron is used for a blade, and I’m a perfect example of that. Even if I go around telling people, they’ll say that it’s only natural for a great wizard to do that, so I can’t brag about it.”
Shingi took off the game console and checked the battery level. Even though he played the game for quite some time, there was still a lot of battery left.
“Wow, the British Empire’s technological prowess is at this level. Did German master craftsmen participate in its production? They put so much effort into even a battery that you have to understand why the British Empire’s magical weapons are so expensive.”
However, the battery of the Korean Empire sometimes shows that it has more than half of its remaining power, and then suddenly runs out of power. Since there is no law that says that the battery of the British Empire is different, Shingi regretfully stopped playing the game and devoted himself to mana training.
In a month, he will take the aptitude test again. Shingi, who is not very perceptive but is not stupid, knows that many teachers are waiting for him. It seems that his free spirit is seen as arrogance by them. Shingi, who planned to become a great wizard before he turned thirty, greatly increased his mana training time. He increased the daily thirty minutes to forty-five minutes.
