Introduction to Political Science by Gishin
Kishin hesitated for a moment before opening his mouth. If I were to sign a contract with you here, you would think it was strange.
“Your physique looks like it’s suitable for soccer. What position do you usually play?”
“I’m an attacker. I grew up early and played as an attacker, but I haven’t grown much in the past few years. That’s why I haven’t been able to play much since I entered high school.”
Kishin, who saw the face of Cha Beom-su who had died, thought a little more before opening his mouth.
“Should I help you out a bit? Youth players are the type of players who can improve their skills quickly just by changing their training methods a little.”
Since his house was nearby, Cha Beom-soo went straight home, changed into his soccer shoes, and brought out the ball. Park Geum-nan went to rest because she had to go to work that evening, and only Ki-shin and Cha Beom-soo headed to a nearby park.
After Cha Beom-soo warmed up, he showed off techniques that he could do on his own, such as dribbling and lifting. It’s hard to imagine how great a basic skill level of 8 is, but seeing Cha Beom-soo do hundreds of lifts in one breath, it didn’t seem like a low level.
Kishin has seen it before, so he knows to some extent how to train effectively. So he explained those parts in detail to Cha Beom-soo. Although he didn’t know some of the training methods because the conditions weren’t right, Cha Beom-soo listened to Kishin’s words with a serious attitude.
While cooling off with a cold drink and taking a break, Kishin asked Cha Beom-soo something seemed a bit odd about his shoes.
“Are you wearing shoes that are too big?”
“When I entered middle school, I intentionally bought slightly larger shoes because I thought I would grow taller, but after that, my growth stopped. You could call it the curse of shoes.”
He is now a high school student, so he has been wearing the same pair of shoes for several years. It was heartbreaking for him, as he also grew up in a poor family.
“I’ll buy you new soccer shoes. But you have to play for our team after that.”
Although Cha Beom-soo tried to decline, Ki-shin forcibly dragged Cha Beom-soo into a taxi. Ki-shin went to a large department store and told Cha Beom-soo to choose soccer shoes. This was because Ki-shin himself did not know how to choose soccer shoes. However, Cha Beom-soo kept choosing only the cheapest ones, so Ki-shin kept rejecting him.
“Hello. I’m a fan. Can I ask for your autograph?”
Suddenly, Cha Beom-soo ran up to me, bowed, and asked for my autograph. He was a national team player who had played soccer in Europe for several years. He currently plays in the K-League, but he used to be a regular player for the national team.
– Current ability 31, potential ability 51.
While watching Cha Beom-soo receive an autograph and look happy, Ki-shin made a quick phone call. After the phone rang a few times, Eric Hunter answered the phone.
“Where is Eric now?”
“I’m heading to the airport now. I was planning to call you when I get there. I’ll be arriving in Korea tomorrow.”
“I found a good player here. I don’t think he’ll have any problems starting right away. He definitely doesn’t have an agent yet, so prepare a contract on your way here.”
“Yes, and the advertising contract has been roughly agreed upon. I’ll tell you when I get there. It’s an individual shoot, and I only need to say a few lines. But what about the player’s national team experience? Is there no problem with his work permit?”
He called Cha Beom-soo and asked if he had any experience with the national team. When Cha Beom-soo shook his head, Ki-shin immediately spoke to Eric.
“I have no experience. I am 18 years old and still a student. Of course, I have personally seen your skills.”
“It’s going to be very difficult to get a work permit. I’ll try to find out about it too.”
As soon as I finished the call, Cha Beom-su looked at me with eyes of respect.
“Director, your English is really good.”
Kishin bought a pair of training shoes with the help of a store employee. Cha Beom-su’s eyes widened at the price of 800,000 won, but he soon picked up the shoes and was delighted.
“My agent will be coming to Korea tomorrow. Don’t you want to sign with him? If you do, he will work hard to find a team for you.”
“I’m on the bench on my school team. I can’t play baseball because I don’t have money. I used to be good at soccer, but now I’m a mess. Do you think they’ll want to sign me?”
“In the player-agent relationship, the player is the superior. Of course, there are agents who have more power than the player, but that’s all because of money. If you just give up your greed for money, the player will always be the superior. And you don’t get paid just because you sign a contract. If you make a profit, you take a certain portion of it. My agent is a lawyer and Hunter’s father.”
“Hunter, the man of the finals. I wish I was that tall.”
“You too can become a great player if you train in a good environment. In fact, I would like to recruit you to our team.”
“You’ve only seen me kick the ball a little bit. How can you know that just by looking at that?”
“Gray and Turner were chosen just as much as you were. Do you think I followed them around and observed them?”
“What kind of player do you think I am, coach?”
“If I were you, I wouldn’t make you a striker. That position would kill all your strengths. You’re best suited as a defensive midfielder.”
Cha Beom-soo has good fundamentals and is accurate in heading. However, he is slow in running, not suitable for counterattacks, and is short, making heading difficult. That is why he began to gradually step down from the bench starting in his third year of middle school. In elementary school, he was only praised as a future national team member.
“If I sign a contract with your team, how much money will I get?”
After hesitating for a while, Cha Beom-su finally couldn’t hold it in any longer and asked a question about money.
“It depends on the agent’s ability. You could probably get paid around a thousand pounds a week.”
“How much is it in Korean money?”
“One hundred and fifty thousand.”
“When will the agent arrive? I will go pick him up too.”
### I am the refreshing demarcation line ###
Eric promised to call me when he got home and took Cha Beom-soo back to his house. He had an appointment with Executive Director Kim in the evening, so he left right away. This advertisement is also one that Executive Director Kim is actively promoting. Executive Director Kim, who moved to electronic at the beginning of the year, was running hard for his dream.
Kim and Ki-shin met at a Japanese restaurant with an elegant interior. They had a few drinks, but they didn’t feel anything because it wasn’t strong alcohol.
“Director, I’ll buy you a drink.”
“You’re called Managing Director? You’re not even my subordinate anymore. Just call me Mr. Kim.”
“If I get kicked out of England, I’ll have to get the managerial position with my own power, but I can’t do that yet.”
Director Kim, who had downed his drink, straightened his posture.
“My future depends on this advertisement. There was a celebrity that another executive was pushing, but a scandal broke out two weeks ago. And you beat Mansour’s team, so it became a huge topic of conversation. That’s why I insisted so strongly. I don’t know much about soccer, but do you think you can win again?”
“We were really lucky last season. This season, I can’t say for sure. In the past, everyone underestimated us and played carelessly, so we lost. If you grit your teeth and play hard, you will never win against strong teams.”
“The arrow has already left the demonstration. I wonder if they are deliberately trying to trick me, because the advertising negotiations are going very quickly and a very high advertising fee has been set for you. It would be great if you do well, but if not, I will fall.”
It’s only been about a year and a half since I last saw him. However, since I’ve been living in the world of the divine for more than half a year, it feels like I haven’t seen him in years. Looking at Director Kim, whose wrinkles have increased due to his mental distress, Kishin was troubled inwardly. Watching the nobles’ behavior, he came to understand a little bit about the way the so-called upper class thinks.
“I have a very good idea. No one gets hurt.”
Director Kim made a puzzled expression.
“Isn’t it all thanks to this great company that I was able to become a director? Since the company prohibited working on weekends, I had free time on the weekends and was able to get my license. Isn’t it human nature to repay the company’s kindness by advertising for free?”
Executive Director Kim slapped his knee. It was a brilliant idea that only Ki-shin himself could have come up with. Of course, in order to give up the advertising money, he had to give something to Ki-shin. Executive Director Kim was ready to give anything to become the president of the electronics company.
“I heard that electronics are struggling in the Chinese market right now. Our team’s jersey advertising is not expensive. But we have advanced to the Europa League. If we advertise electronically in Chinese, wouldn’t Chinese consumers really like it?”
Director Kim was becoming increasingly curious, but he held back and did not open his mouth. He still had no idea what he should give to Gishin.
“And the former will send young players to Notts County to foster Asian youth soccer players. Of course, there will have to be Korean players and Chinese players. I have someone I can trust with the Chinese players, and I have already looked at the Korean players. With the former’s sponsorship, they will go to England to study soccer, and you can help them get a work permit.”
He could imagine the amount of articles the Chinese media would produce if a Chinese player played in the Europa League. And when he heard that a Korean player could become a starter, Executive Director Kim could no longer bear it.
“Wouldn’t it be you who would be the only one to suffer if this happens?”
Director Kim didn’t realize that his tone of speech had changed, but Kishin did.
“I also have a favor to ask.”
Kishin took out the puppy Shingi from his bag and said his request.
“I’m so attached to this puppy that I’m thinking of taking it to the UK. Can you please provide me with some quarantine-related documentation? When I asked, they said that if I just get all the documentation from an internationally recognized source and show them the relevant documents, they won’t conduct any separate inspections.”
Director Kim called right away. A short while later, he received a text message and sent a picture of the puppy. He told me the puppy’s name and the room number of the hotel where Kisin was staying, and everything was done.
“All the necessary proofs will be delivered to the hotel tomorrow. By the way, is there really nothing you need? I’m just so sorry.”
“If the team has more money, I can work more comfortably. Just like the executive director’s dream is to become the president of an electronics company, I also have a dream. Money is not important for that dream.”
As he had told Cha Beom-soo, the moment he stopped obsessing over money, Ki-shin became a top player. Two days later, Executive Director Kim happened to stop by the advertising contract negotiation site, and Ki-shin, who recognized his old boss, greeted him politely. Ki-shin, who had a brief argument with his agent, decided to do the advertising for free.
A few days later, the company sponsored Korean player Cha Bum-soo and Chinese player Wang Hui to Notts County, and at the same time, secured a contract for the Notts County uniform advertisement. Ki-shin went to England on a private plane that only executives of the group can use. On the plane, the puppy Shin-gi was staring blankly at the documents with his photo attached.
It was only a few days after Kishin left for England that the commercial he had shot officially began to air. There was a glass house on a white cloud, and inside the house was a black sofa. Kishin was sitting on the sofa, watching the game on his phone. When the first half of the game ended, Kishin completed the player substitution and changed the formation by tapping the screen of his phone a few times with his finger.
Soon, a call came through on the phone and Kishin picked it up. Kiwoon, who was watching his brother on TV with interest, unconsciously imitated Kishin’s lines.
“We have to win this game.”
