Episode 632: The First Guest
The castle was so large that it would take several days to walk around without any transportation.
Over the castle, large demons would often fly past. However, since it was a common occurrence, people were neither surprised nor looked at them.
Since this was the area of influence of the Dantop, no one was allowed to act recklessly. No matter how evil a person was, they had to behave properly when they came here.
All the flying demons here were registered with the tower. All flying demons had a huge mark on their necks, which was their pass. They had to have this pass to fly, and without it, they were killed by the tower’s guards.
The passes issued here were limited. Not everyone could obtain one, so riding an airship was a sort of status symbol.
At the center of Danyangju Castle, in all directions, stands a tall tower that is so high that it pierces the clouds and the top floor cannot be seen from outside.
This is the Chilbo Yeongrong Pagoda, a symbolic building of the Dantap. The area in all directions centered around Chilbo Yeongrong Pagoda is a no-fly zone, so no one can fly with a demon beast, and if discovered, both the person and the demon beast will be killed immediately.
This is the core area of the pagoda, also called the treasure pagoda area. This area is only accessible to monks, and is off-limits to other practitioners.
At a bar on the outskirts of Botap-gu, Yongjin sat in a corner, drinking alone while enjoying the scenery of the outskirts.
It’s already been three days since I came here. I’m now getting used to the unfamiliar surroundings, and I’ve also learned some information about Dantop.
After eating and drinking to his heart’s content, Yongjin looked for a place to rest. He had to think about how he would fit into the group.
Yongjin’s footsteps soon led him to a remote alley. It was an old and shabby place, but it was exactly the place Yongjin wanted.
“Guest, are you looking for a place to stay? Our rooms are clean and reasonably priced, so come and check it out.”
As Yongjin was walking, a small door suddenly opened, and a young girl who looked to be about fourteen years old looked at Yongjin with a frightened expression and spoke.
The girl looked very thin and weak. She was not healthy, and her complexion was slightly yellow. You could tell at a glance that the girl was malnourished. However, her eyes were clear as water, and somehow pitiful.
“How long have you been memorizing those slogans?”
Yongjin smiled brightly at the girl.
The girl forced herself to come out when she saw someone coming, but she looked surprised and embarrassed when she saw Yongjin’s droopy eyes and evil smile.
“I, I… … .”
The girl stuttered, holding onto the end of her dress.
Yongjin couldn’t hold back his laughter and started laughing loudly. Judging from the children’s surprise at seeing him, it seems like his new face is pretty good.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m not a good person, but I’m not a bad person either.”
Fortunately, Yongjin didn’t change his voice. The girl felt a little relieved when she heard Yongjin’s atmospheric voice.
“Guest, are you looking for a place to stay? Our rooms are clean and affordable. Come in and see for yourself!”
The girl spoke again with sparkling eyes and hope.
“Yeah, you’re more fluent than before. You’ve improved. Okay, let’s go in and give it a try. But if I don’t like it after I go in, I won’t stay.”
Yongjin said with a smile.
“Yes, yes! Thank you, sir! Please come in.”
The girl was delighted and hurried ahead.
As soon as he entered the main gate, Yongjin was taken aback. This two-story wooden house looked like an ordinary farmhouse, not a guest house. There were even farm tools in the yard that had not been properly organized.
But the inside was very neatly organized. The girl led me to this floor. When I opened the door, I saw a bed. And then there was nothing. Not even a desk. But that simplicity was clear.
There was a quilt neatly spread out on the bed. It wasn’t new, but it had been washed very cleanly and dried in the sun, and it smelled cozy.
Through the small window I could see a small lake and boats in the distance. It was a wonderful view.
“Customer, do you like it? If there is anything you don’t like, please tell the girl. I will change it as much as I can.”
The girl said, looking a little uneasy.
“It’s okay. It’s simple and clear, and the scenery is nice. I can even count the stars while lying in bed at night.”
Yongjin nodded and said.
“Oh my god!”
The girl followed Yongjin’s gaze around the bed and blushed without realizing it. There was a hole the size of a plate in the roof above the bed.
“Customer, please wait a moment. I will go up and fix it right away.”
As soon as the girl finished speaking, she tried to go down to get the ladder.
“It’s okay. It doesn’t look like it’ll rain for the next few days. It’s nice to see the open landscape.”
Yongjin shook his head and said.
“You are a really… … interesting person.”
The girl’s expression softened as she relaxed at Yongjin’s witty remark.
“Well, how much is this room?”
Yongjin asked.
The girl hesitated and spoke in a timid voice.
“Um… … One silver coin per night… … Is that okay?”
“One silver coin in one night?”
Yongjin frowned.
“Oh, if you think it’s expensive, I’ll lower the price for you.”
The girl was startled when she saw Yongjin frowning and spoke hurriedly. The girl was afraid that Yongjin would continue like this.
“In this precious Danyangju, the price seems too cheap.”
Yongjin burst into laughter.
A color came to the girl’s face at Yongjin’s words.
“This is the house that my grandfather bought after saving money for several years. I will renovate this place into an inn and save more money. My grandfather is old and has poor eyesight, so he can no longer work. If I manage this inn well, I will be able to take care of him. Haha, you are the first guest of our inn.”
The girl spoke with a bright face, as if she was happy about Yongjin’s move in.
“So-Chui, tell the guest to come down and eat.”
An old man’s voice was heard from downstairs.
“Yes, yes! Sir, please come down and eat now.”
Yongjin went downstairs with the girl. An old man was standing next to the desk, listening. He was surprisingly blind.
“Your Majesty has arrived, but I am worried that there is not much to prepare.”
The old man bowed to Yongjin (raising both hands in front of the face, bowing forward politely, then straightening the body and lowering the hands) and spoke respectfully.
“It’s okay. People are of all social classes, so what difference does the size of a grain of rice make?”
Yongjin sat down. A few meatless vegetable side dishes and cabbage tofu soup were served.
The girl gave Yongjin a lot of tofu and only filled herself with vegetable garnishes. Yongjin sighed inwardly. No matter how prosperous the city was, there were still people living at the bottom, struggling to make ends meet.
“You are not originally from Danyangju. What brings you here? Have you come to see your relatives?”
As they talked together while eating, the two began to feel closer to Yongjin. The old man began to ask questions.
“Haha, I just came here to earn some money. Starting tomorrow, I have to go out and find something to do and earn some money.”
“Brother, isn’t one silver coin a night too expensive? Eat and sleep at my house first, and then give me more when you have money.”
The girl seemed to have gotten used to Yongjin, and her speech became more relaxed.
“Hahaha, don’t worry, it’s only a small amount of money. My master has a lot of money right now. When I get the money later, I’ll build a big inn, so you, Sochui, will be the owner of that inn.”
Yongjin laughed haha.
The girl and her grandfather were very poor, but they had kind hearts. It had been a long time since I had seen such innocent people.
“Sochui, starting tomorrow, buy me some more alcohol and meat. This older brother is a glutton and can’t live without meat.”
Yongjin threw a pouch to Sochui. Inside were about a hundred gold coins. It had been a long time since he had used cash like this.
“Oh my god, there are this many?”
So-Chu, who had paid dozens of gold coins when he bought this small house, was surprised to see so much money for the first time.
Yongjin laughed loudly. The girl was so skinny. It was good to supplement nutrition while her body was still growing. Yongjin went back to his room and went to sleep.
The next morning, Yongjin pulled himself together and ran straight to the pagoda.
It was the core area of Danyangju.
“If you don’t want to die, get out!”
Suddenly, a loud roar was heard from behind, and a huge carriage came hurtling towards Yongjin.
It was the six-cornered Man-woo, the first demon beast of the heavens, a hundred chapters long. Man-woo was galloping forward with great dignity, pulling a very elegant carriage.
This road was an official road that ordinary people dare not walk on, and Yongjin walked along the edge, so he did not interfere with others’ running at all. However, this reckless Manwoo approached Yongjin and deliberately tried to kill him.
“Damn, wherever I go there are always idiots.”
bang.
As Yongjin stretched out his large hand and grabbed Manwoo’s horn, Manwoo, who had been running quickly, stopped for a moment.
But the speed was so fast that the eighteen people sitting on the train were thrown out of the train with screams.
They were finally able to stop after they had rammed the car and rolled on the ground for a while.
“Where the hell did you come from, you idiot? Do you want to die?”
A man in a white robe rose from the floor and shouted.
Woohoo.
As soon as the man swore, a huge shadow loomed over him. Man-woo was driving a chariot and rushing towards them. The people were startled, their faces turned pale, and they quickly scattered to the sides.
The hexagonal man-wu was thrown to the ground with a violent thud and immediately fainted, and the luxurious teacup was also shattered.
“That son of a bitch, he’s so crazy he’s trying to kill himself… … .”
puck!
The man was hit hard in the cheek by a large hand that suddenly flew in, causing blood to spurt from his mouth.
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
Yongjin slapped the man’s face with his hand and spoke coldly. Yongjin couldn’t understand why these idiots were trying to kill him.
He hasn’t shown any signs of aggression so far, he’s just like a normal person. So why bother?
If Yongjin had bothered them because he was an eyesore, it would be understandable, but they attacked Yongjin from behind. Did they not like the sight of his back?
