Fantasy Starting from the Stone Age - Chapter 25

Episode 25. The Designer (+1 volume review)
What is a hero? Let’s look at the dictionary definition of Earth and the perspective of this world.
A champion is a being that is created. He overcomes the barriers of race through the aspirations of many people and his own strong will. That is why he corresponds to a champion. He is not a hero. He is literally a representative of a race.
Heroes are much stronger, more agile, wiser, more clever, and more charming. The human being himself transcends his own species into something other than humanity.
Daton’s Ol Chaun became the world’s first hero, and the 10-year-old Bark Maja became the second hero.
Since then, heroes have appeared and died in various places. How many heroes have there been in the world since the Paradise Era began and ended? Well, there are so many that I can’t introduce them all.
But there is an important fact about heroes. This is something that is inherited. In other words, the blood of a hero is more likely to be expressed in later generations.
This could be seen as a memetic factor rather than a genetic mutation, i.e. a biological factor.
‘So-and-so is a really great person. So his child will be great too.’
This is what it is. People’s will and desires are easily gathered together if there is a clear target. It is even more so if there is clear evidence that someone has become a hero.
This is true even if the target person does not know that he is the successor. The will is definitely directed towards the concept.
Even if you are not of bloodline, the will is passed on. If you defeat the king who is a hero, you also become a hero.
Ultimately, the heroes who clearly exist in this world have filled the world with extreme bloodline-ism, ability-ism, justification-ism, and fatalism.
In short, it was a world no different from Earth. What the hell. Unfortunately, they are systematically encouraging it. It’s because the beginning god is incompetent.
Anyway, there was a great hero in Datang named Ol Chaun.
So who will be the second hero of Datang? If Ol Chaun’s mother was alive, she would definitely be the hero. But unfortunately, she was not······.
But, actually, you shouldn’t say ‘Will it work?’
Because at the beginning of the mythical era, there was already a second hero in Datang.
It’s not bark mazah.
This woman was born during the Paradise Era. In other words, this means that All Chaun was already born in a great state.
The Paradise Age was a time of abundance. In a time when there were no worries, the Daton tribe was in the midst of an artistic craze. After gathering, raising children, and making things, they spent their spare time engrossed in all sorts of crafts, paintings, and sculptures.
The art of the Datton people developed in all sorts of directions. There was no formation of any plausible artistic trends or styles, and each tribe developed in its own independent direction.
This woman went on a pilgrimage to see the diverse arts of many tribes, and focused on teaching them to those who had no art.
“Pretty colors. Pretty shapes. Pretty symbols······ hmm.”
While other Datons drew things that existed in reality, she drew abstract sculptures or paintings. She just liked the shapes. Other Datons didn’t really understand her art, but they acknowledged her skill.
At some point, she had a strange idea: she thought that she could not properly show off her artistry with plant dyes or fibers, animal bones or leather.
“Stone. Hmm. A stone.”
Daton was still in the Stone Age. Thanks to advancement, stone tools have been divided into various types. They have also reached extreme levels. Jewels beautifully carved by finishing and polishing with sandpaper. And beautifully cut stones.
It was curiosity. It wasn’t anything special. He just brought the fire spirit he had, the Orotbe that was given to him by All Chaun, to the stone on the hill.
Cheeeeeeek.
“Goooosh.”
She doesn’t like rocks. Of course, that’s because the fire goes out when it touches the rocks. She didn’t think much of it either.
But then she discovers something strange. The hill that was touched by the fire melts away, as if it were shedding tears.
“uh?”
Of course, Darton was also aware of the ‘stone that melts when touched by fire’. Even in grasslands, the soil quality was different.
“······.”
However, it is safe to say that there was no Daturn who actively tried to use it. The reason is, of course, that if it melts while there is fire all around, it cannot function as a tool at all.
“Oh, hot.”
The spirit’s fire doesn’t hurt you, but the spirit’s molten stone does burn you a little. Although it’s only a little bit compared to the temperature.
She ponders over this melting stone.
And then came the long work. She was fascinated by stones when other Datons were concentrating on animals, plants, or, in other words, livestock and gardening. When they were satisfied with sculpture and painting, she was fascinated by stones. Even in most tribes, the knowledge of stones was limited to ‘this splits well’, ‘this is very soft’, ‘this is good for making pottery’. She learned about stones by digging out the clay herself, baking it, melting it, and sorting it.
“All stones that melt when touched by fire change the color of the flame. Not the flame of the spirit, but the flame that was naturally kindled.”
I understand a little bit about the properties of metals.
“This and this melt in a less hot fire. But if you put these two together, you get a stone that doesn’t melt in a hotter fire. And then you can’t separate them.”
I also understood the properties of alloys.
“There’s a huge amount of this, but if you have a really strong fire, you can melt it. Even if it melts like that, if you put wood or something else in it, the properties change······.”
The concept of smelting and the discovery of railroads.
This was a great achievement. About 15,000 years later, the Baekkan people also studied smelting and learned about the properties of stones, rocks, and sand, and succeeded in creating metals. However, unlike the Baekkan people, the Daton people had a tremendous advantage.
The Datons needed neither ‘firewood’ nor a ‘kiln’ to smelt. Even the most technologically advanced Baekkans were not yet able to build a kiln that could reach the temperature needed to smelt iron.
But for the Daton tribe, the fire that could melt iron was not a very high temperature. They could reach it with something like “Rekappa!”
However, her progress was limited.
“Ah······. It broke again. Hmm~ This is strange. The Bark Tribe said this doesn’t break easily. I’ve actually seen one that doesn’t break easily~”
Why does it fail? It’s because the refining in this world is greatly affected not only by the concentration of carbon, but also by the concentration of magical power and magical pressure.
In the plains of Daton, located between the super-super-super-high-magic zone and the ultra-high-magic zone, it was impossible to create anything other than metal affected by magic.
At first glance, it might seem like it could create magical weapons, but the problem was that it was uncontrollable.
It’s not uncommon for metals imbued with magic to react on their own, explode, melt, or break. It seems like a long time before magic item production and magic metallurgy were even possible.
But she was not the first blacksmith, she was an artist. She created dances and performances that shone in a variety of colors, depending on the sparks and dances she sprinkled.
“Wow! This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!”
Daton is amazed. He could perform on a bigger stage and show off his art in front of a crowd of people in a square.
But this was not enough. When the time came for her to meet Olchaun and receive youth in her old age, she approached Olchaun and made a bold request.
“I need that scaly elephant. Please give it to me.”
“ok?”
In a persuasion involving mating (not bribery, of course), she passionately preached to All Chaun about the metals and stones she had discovered, their mysterious workings, and the enormous labor required to mine them.
Ol Cha-un, who has always lived as an innovator, naturally answered yes.
“What a wonderful idea! Alright. For now, I’ll lend you the Spirit Tree Scale Elephant. If you achieve more, I’ll give you the title of ‘Jevat Chaun (Friend of the Hilly Plains)’!”
She used elephants to dig the ground and extract valuable stones and soil, which she processed and sold, not only for art but also for building houses.
He created the concept of quarrying – cutting stones with tools made of metal.
And she created sculptures out of stone, carved not with brute force but with skill and delicacy, and showed off her art to her heart’s content with various themes and symbols.
“Good. Let’s use these stones as landmarks here and there in the meadow. Then we’ll be able to see how big each village’s territory is.”
“And a lost person can also find his way back by looking at the stone.”
In each village, I also made their own symbols using stones.
For decades, the work required ‘Jevat Chaun’ and his numerous disciples and colleagues to split and carve the stone like crazy.
And when her aging progressed and it became certain that she would die in about 100 years, no matter how much youth was given (by burning the waste in her body), Ol Chaun discovered the Moon Spirit.
It was she who discovered that the Moon Spirit gained more power near the Crescent Moon Statue.
“Jebat Chaun. You’ve gotten so old.”
“Okay. Well. Is there anything you want me to do?”
“I’m going to build a huge house using the jewels that appear in the ‘center.’ A crescent-shaped house that reaches down to the ground and stacks upwards… Is that possible?”
“Let’s try. Well. Before I die~”
She was the designer of Mainirun. She was also its director and architect. She carved its greatest sculptures, and she also carved the humorous jokes and playful symbols that were interspersed between them.
Surprisingly, she did not die until the completion of the Mainilun. She was as old as Ol Chaun at the end of the Dark Ages, but she did not die. Despite the devotion of Ol Chaun and Datang Oram, it seemed that aging could no longer be stopped.
And then All Chaun gathered all the Datuns and declared the founding of a nation and named the building they built Mainnirun. No Datun knew who designed it. Everyone thought it would be her last achievement.
“Great architect of Mainirun! The will of Jebat Chaun will live on forever in this great building!”
The moment All Chaun declared in front of the tribe, the will and desire of millions of feet hit her right away.
The greatest of all chauns. But it was a worship directed to her who had created the palace in which he would reside.
“ah!”
“Look! The Jebat Chaun is shining!”
It was the moment when the shedding began. She spent her whole life carving stones and putting stars in them.
Now the star enters her and regenerates her.
“Wow! You look younger!”
It was the birth of the second hero. Now, the title that would be given to her, who would no longer be called Jebat Chaun, was almost a given.
“I’ve spent my whole life carving moonlight into sculptures. So of course I······.”
She proudly calls out the title she created for herself.
“Moonlight······!”
“Hey. Jebat Chaun. Would you rather take the Manum Lapang seat?”
“Ah. That sounds good too!”
He failed to make his own title, but what is this? Manum Lapang, who had been in charge of the High Priestess since there was no one else to entrust him with, was succeeded by the designer of Mainilun.
In this way, the priest (rafi) of the Daton tribe is not only a person who praises the moon and spreads the faith, but also an artist of Daton. It was certainly through her influence that Jebat Chaun was given the job of a civil engineering specialist.
And she gained immortal life like All Chaun, and over a very long period of time, she created countless sculptures and temples. What would the people who saw them think?
“If you accomplish great feats, you will never age!”
“Like All Chaun and Manum Lapang, if we achieve great things, we can become immortal next to them!”
Well, it was true that if you became a hero, you could make a pure-blooded Daton live forever even with insufficient firepower. Those two people were proof.
From this point on, the Datun tribe will stake their lives on the immortal glory of being with All Chaun. Their doctrine and belief system, which was simply about living well, having children, and then dying, now includes the glory of this world.
People have changed their minds. They now want to be heroes ‘actively’.
Will the attempt succeed? If heroes are created, will there be a class that teaches them how to become heroes? And will heroes ever become commonplace?
Now that All Chaun has stepped aside, I would like to introduce the heroes of the Daton tribe who will fill the Pantheon where the wise gods have entered.
Their stories soon become myths, and the era in which they were active soon becomes the era of myths.
An era where no one has yet achieved a proper nation. These are the people who directly lead the front lines of the mythical era.
That era is coming.
And this applies not only to Daton, but also to other races.
