Episode 51. The Struggle
Every time a minecrafter appears, it presents a new paradigm to the datang.
The seventh Mine Nile Paron Echakado brought ‘doubt’ and ‘skepticism’ to Datang.
The reason why this is a paradigm is because before then, there were no people who went against the teachings of the great Mindilans. Even if there were, they were just rejected.
That is why the great Paron Echakado, who achieved great things while blatantly breaking the rules of the Datang, or rather because he broke them in some sense, was a very important mainlin.
‘Parun’. They are hunters who hunt dragons with animal spirits, symbolized by the blasphemous leopard. However, as time goes by, more important things become the focus.
It is the defense of the guilty, the judgment of the law itself, and also the supervision of each official.
When All Chaun, the head of the legislature and the one with absolute power, makes a law, the Dutans in each region act according to that law, arrest, prosecute, and try criminals.
At that time, did the sinner actually commit a sin?
Also, is this law actually right?
Is Dutan judging fairly now?
Look at these three. First of all, even against the most vicious criminals, Faren provides minimal defense. Of course, the power of judgment lies with Dutan and the public, but it still functions as a fairly advanced legal system in that there are lawyers.
While Castel Laurent also did some scientific research to question whether the common sense we know today is actually correct, Paron Echacado is great in that no one ever questioned whether the laws we have ‘established’ are actually correct.
“I have no intention of living in Mainilun.”
When Echakado says this, the Minnie Runs are surprised. But soon they agree that it seems natural.
“Well, I guess it would be right to hunt while wandering around.”
“Even if that weren’t the case, honestly, it became a mine run, but… well… I’m not that happy about it. To me, mine run’s decisions have always been to the point of persecuting me.”
“It wasn’t our intention, but I guess there’s nothing we can do about it.”
All Chaun had nothing to say. He had done little for his distant descendants and new family.
“I happen to be a rebel, so let’s do that this time too. I’m a Mainirun who doesn’t live in Mainirun. I guess that’s fine.”
“Yes. You are right.”
“What you said is wrong. It’s too late. From now on, think about whether your thoughts are right or wrong before you live.”
After uttering his blasphemous words, Echacado goes out with his new leopard. For him, who has the animal spirit of a leopard, any leopard is a descendant of an old friend.
“Even if you don’t live in Mainilun, you’re still Mainilun. I wish I could have said that when I was in Osojo-in Gulmyeong.”
All Chaun says so. At that time, he openly stated that if you don’t live in Mainilun, you are not a Mainilun, but there were many objections.
One time, he named the World Tree Mainirae, making himself Mainiran, and another one he declared to be Mainiran even though he didn’t even live there.
“Was I wrong······.”
All this time, I feel skeptical. It’s a positive skepticism.
If it was wrong, what was wrong? The depression you are feeling right now? Or the mess you made? Or everything you have achieved and built up?
All Chaun thinks that is not wrong. It is a denial of oneself and an insult to all Datons.
Then, wasn’t it wrong to kill one’s own kind? Was it just a desperate decision that had to be made to save the rest of the race?
Perhaps, it could not be called that. All Chaun knew that he was wrong.
But the depression had now subsided and instead of making him sink inward, it lingered and made him feel uneasy.
From such a change of heart, the myth-era struggle begins.
The appearance of Paron Echakado shocked Datang so much that it was almost panic-stricken.
“You’re saying that you became a main runner by disobeying All Chaun’s words?”
“That’s right. No one would have thought of that. Who would go against the word of Ol Chaun?”
“But if we break the rules of Daton that we have learned our whole lives or resist Dutan, aren’t we being rejected?”
“So, um. We need to do something called healthy criticism.”
But what is that?
There is healthy criticism, criticism for the sake of criticism, and insulting criticism. Darton doesn’t know that.
In this section, Castel Laurent defines a sound critique of scholarship, namely the scientific methodology of hypothesis-verification-refutation-rehypothesis-reverification-proof.
But others haven’t done anything like that. It’s hard for progressives to suddenly appear in Dartmouth, where conservative sentiment has dominated for thousands of years.
That is why Paron Echakado is despised even though he is a main runner. In the sense that the author wonders how it is possible, and in the sense that we can never walk that path.
The problem is that Paron Echakado is not only the leader of the defense and inspection minions, but also the leader of the hunters, the only military organization at this point.
Although the Paldin Koa grouped together unrelated fields such as cattle farming, transportation, Quako politics, and metalworking, they were all grouped together as ‘cattle’ in the big picture. Basically, anything a Quako could do.
However, since Echakado is a rebellious man and a hunter’s man, those with a rebellious nature are either unqualified for hunting or those with a hunting nature are unqualified for rebellion.
Eventually, the number of hunters in Datang falls far short of the demand.
“There are so many dragons, what on earth are they all doing? Why aren’t there any people who want to be hunters?”
“But I can’t force you to do it.”
“But still, there are a lot of dragons living inside the Datang, and the big ones are coming in and causing trouble, so we have to deal with them somehow.”
If you can’t meet your needs from within your own workforce, you’re left with only one option.
External manpower. In other words, bringing in foreigners.
Struggle period. Datang allows large-scale immigration to prevent the infiltration of dragons.
Guys, does this sound like a good thing? It’s a good thing that will allow the Datang area to expand and accommodate a larger population?
Well, conservatives are against immigration because they think foreign cultures will ruin the purity of our culture.
It’s a kind of xenophobia, but it’s also true. Immigration and the active influx of foreigners eventually bring about changes in the culture and customs of a country.
It could be a good change, or a bad change. Datang is somehow trying to blend it in with active mixed blood······.
Sometimes things happen in the world that take things a step further.
Long ago, there was a race that Bark Maza described in Datang.
“There is a tribe called the Borin. They are short, stupid, and extremely numerous. They can speak, but not properly. They can make tools, but they prefer to steal from others. They fight recklessly, and if there are a hundred people, seventy of them will die, but the thirty who remain will suddenly increase to three hundred, three thousand, so they are truly an enormous number.”
This is a species of ape that does not exist on Earth. It is a species that has adopted a survival strategy similar to that of a ‘rat’. It is a species that has a numerical advantage and is successful if 98 out of 100 people die but only 2 people remain and reproduce.
These races were stupid. Eventually, at some point, they became slave races for other races. Since they lived far apart, Erindo, Barkdo, Baekando, and Tocha also enslaved them. The only ones who did not enslave them were Daton and Gigad.
The reason is simple, but the Borin slaves were weak and either died before they could cross the isthmus, the only way to enter Datang, or they simply stayed and farmed. So for thousands of years, these people lived only in the north, west, and east.
And here’s a family. The Erin family. He was the chieftain, so he had Borin servants to look after his children.
“Hey, Borin. Get ready, we’re going to move.”
“Yes, yes, master. I will do so.”
This Borin tribe has no thoughts. Their intelligence is on the level of borderline intelligence or intellectual disability for Earth’s humans. However, their ‘memory’ is incredibly good.
Originally, intelligence tends to grow in this biased way. The Borin tribe never forgets anything. The apes of Earth do the same! It is said that chimpanzees have much better short-term memory than humans on average.
Instead of thinking, these Borin people leave the higher thinking to their masters, and while they remember, they just do the work of butlers, servants, slaves, whatever you want to call them.
They just make children with women that their master gives them, and those children also become slaves. Once their numbers increase to a certain level, they are controlled so that they cannot reproduce.
This Erin sect was so large that they had many Borin slaves. Instead of going north, they crossed the Isthmus, past the Bark border and many hardships, and eventually came north of Dator.
“A lot of Borin died.”
“Six pairs survived, so that’s fine. They’ll figure out how to get there.”
Yes, I see. So there were six pairs?
They crossed the Great Forest with the Borin tribe without a second thought. The Borin tribe that was newly born after crossing the Great Forest had a strange characteristic.
“Master, it’s different from what you said before.”
“Huh? Oh. I see.”
Intelligence has increased somewhat. The Erin tribe thinks that it has improved simply because they drink the good water and air of the great forest.
And some of them go down to the pastures, under the great forest. At this point, the fifth generation of the Borin tribe shows even more peculiar characteristics.
“Oh my god. My son is dumber than Borin.”
“Your son is only three years old. Borin is already a teenager at three.”
“No, not the youngest, but the eldest. My servant spoke more plausibly.”
“Ha! It looks like even the Borin tribe has a genius.”
And below the ranch. When the Daton hybrids finally reached a point where they could farm, they took the Borin tribe and enslaved them.
Soon, the 7th generation. While the Erin tribe only passed from father to son in less than two generations, Borin was already over 7 generations old.
The Erin son torments the Borin slave without a second thought. He is, so to speak, the son of his own slave, and therefore an inferior slave.
Then he accidentally kills him. He dies after hitting his stomach with an axe. The Erin son just laughs, thinking that the Borin child is really weak.
The 7th generation Borin slave responds by cutting open the Erin child’s stomach, pulling out his intestines, and stuffing them back into the creature’s maw.
“You, what are you doing?”
“Your son did this to my son, so I did this to your son!”
“Hey, is this kid crazy? He’s a slave!”
And hundreds of Borin slaves killed all the Erins that day. The farm Erins were of course as strong as five Borins combined, but they couldn’t handle the ten of them rushing at them and tearing them apart with stone knives.
“We will not be slaves! This blessed land. We will avenge all the resentment of our ancestors and forefathers who were slaves!”
“We got stronger here. We got smarter!”
“Not a slave. You who first resisted! You are now our king. ‘Borin Deata’! Our Deata! Show us the way!”
“Let’s devour all the Datang! This land of life now belongs to Borin!”
These are the Borin tribe. In order to survive in the low-magic zone, they have reduced their intelligence and physical abilities and spread all over the world.
Did you know that each race in the world has one ability?
Daton’s racial abilities are an affinity for spirits and high mental power.
Bark’s racial ability is to enhance metabolism through magical power.
Erin’s racial ability is to not get tired through magical power.
The ability of the Baekkan race is to be able to breathe as long as you have magic power.
The racial ability of the Tocha is to increase strength through magic power.
The Gigaard’s racial ability is efficient energy acquisition through magic······.
And Borin’s racial ability is to increase intelligence through magic power. In the ultra-high magic power zone, it’s safe to say that everyone is an ultra-high intelligence person.
In less than 20 years, the Borin hordes numbered in the tens of thousands, and within 100 years, they had grown to hundreds of thousands and began to sweep through Datang.
The first opponents in the struggle are several large, strong, but stupid dragons.
Now the second opponent is the small, fragile, but intelligent Borin, who are literally numerous enough to cover the entire plains.
