Genius Manager Who Hears Voices - Chapter 3

Episode 3
“Huh? Heesung, are you awake? Oh my, you’re finally awake. You’re finally awake.”
A few hours later, when Heeseong opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Manager Yang Wonho’s face.
As he struggled to get up and looked around with bleary eyes, he saw that Deputy Manager Kim Seok-hwan and Im Eun-ha were also looking at him with worried eyes.
“Oh my, I thought something had happened because Hee-sung wouldn’t wake up for so long. Manager Kim called the nurse several times. Hee-sung, do you know how many hours you slept?”
“Well… … I thought you just took a nap.”
“Oh my, I just closed my eyes! The sun is almost setting outside. According to Manager Kim, I slept the whole time after the inspection was over, so I must have slept for at least three or four hours.”
“Three or four hours? Me?”
Only then did Heeseong turn his gaze toward the window. Just as Manager Yang Wonho had said, the sunset was slowly fading away.
Hee-sung sat up completely, leaned against the hospital bed, and did a quick wash.
“I didn’t realize you were sleeping so deeply. I was just trying to close my eyes for a bit because you told me to rest until the test results came out. Did you get the test results out by any chance?”
When Heeseong asked, Kim Seok-hwan nodded vigorously and answered.
“Yeah. Hee-sung was fast asleep so I went to hear the results instead. He said that he was fine and healthy overall. He said that if there were any aftereffects later on, we should get another test then.”
I thought it was a natural result since I hadn’t hit anything or had a serious accident in the first place.
Slowly nodding his head, Heeseong moved his body once more to prepare for discharge.
Then, Yang Won-ho, Kim Seok-hwan, and Lim Eun-ha, who had been watching, widened their eyes and blocked Hee-seong’s body without saying a word.
“Huh? Why, Heesung? Are you planning on leaving the hospital right now? It’s not even 6 o’clock yet?”
“Oh, yes. I should go since the test results came out. I didn’t come here because I was sick in the first place.”
“Hey, that won’t do! I’ve already paid all the hospitalization fees. Wouldn’t it be better to just sleep here, even if it’s just to save money?”
“Yes, Heesung. Since you’ve already received expensive tests here, you can rest well here today and be discharged tomorrow. Dinner will be served soon.”
“Yes, Heesung. Even if the test results show that there was nothing wrong, it was still a near-miss. Just in case, rest here and be safe as you’ll be discharged tomorrow.”
The person in question was in a situation where he wanted to be discharged because he was not in pain, but others were actively trying to dissuade him.
Of course, there was a good reason for them to do this.
“No, even if you don’t have any pain, isn’t it pretty okay to sleep in a place like this for a day? I asked the nurse a little while ago, and she said that the daily hospitalization fee here is hundreds, hundreds. Oh, by the way, what kind of hospital room is more expensive than a decent hotel suite?”
“Besides, it’s not usually possible to make a sudden hospitalization reservation like this, but they said that they were able to get it because there was just one VIP room left. The head of Kang Se-ra’s agency is very close with the hospital director. Well, it could have been Kang Se-ra instead of Hee-sung lying here, so they probably thought they should be treated this way.”
In fact, immediately after the accident, Heesung didn’t have any bruises.
Since I had already moved knowing that the lighting equipment would fall and the distance to Kang Se-ra was not too far, I was able to avoid the accident, albeit just barely.
So, there was no need to come all the way to the hospital, but Kang Se-ra and the advertiser strongly recommended that I get tested, so I had no choice but to do it.
On the surface, it was a big accident, and even if the person himself says he’s okay, it would be reassuring for them to make sure it’s all over before moving on.
So, even though it was a bit of a hassle, I got all the tests I had scheduled for them, one by one.
This was the place they brought me to after the examination and told me to wait a moment.
‘VIP ward.’
He also found out that this was a VIP ward because Seok-Hwan Kim, who was with him, told him. At first, Hee-Sung didn’t even understand why he was here.
There is absolutely no reason for a person with no illness to be admitted to a single-person hospital room where hundreds of patients are admitted every day.
So, I was planning to wait until the inspection was over and then go, but my teammates were trying to dissuade me from doing so.
“Just to see their sincerity, just stay here today, Hee-sung. The hospitalization fee is one thing, but they must be preparing something else too. The schedule that Kang Se-ra had been holding onto for several months almost came to a halt. Kang Se-ra, the advertisers, and Hee-sung must want to bow down a hundred, a thousand times. So they must be thinking of some other compensation.”
When Heeseong raised his eyebrows slightly at the word compensation, Yang Wonho added with a sly smile.
“Oh, isn’t that obvious? Just like Kang Se-ra said at the scene earlier, Hee-sung was his lifesaver. You wouldn’t just say thank you to the person who saved your life. You would give him some kind of compensation, whether it be money or a gift, right?”
As for compensation, I never thought about it that much, so I didn’t really have any expectations.
Rather, the events that happened at the scene earlier just keep coming to mind.
After forcibly placing Heeseong back on the bedside table, Kim Seok-hwan asked in a somewhat excited tone.
“No, by the way, Heesung-ssi. How on earth did you know that the lighting equipment would fall? Everyone on site was focused on Kang Se-ra, but Heesung-ssi already noticed that the lighting equipment was unstable. And then, when it was about to fall, he jumped right into Kang Se-ra. Right?”
Following Kim Seok-hwan’s words, Im Eun-ha also carefully opened her lips.
“Actually, when Hee-sung went to the hospital, the atmosphere on set was really bad. Since the main model almost had a serious accident, they started to ask who was responsible. But the lighting team said that there was absolutely nothing wrong with it until right before filming. They even checked every single screw. They said they didn’t know why it suddenly popped out.”
“Well, if they don’t know that, who would know? They’re just trying to avoid responsibility by making excuses. If Kang Se-ra really had an accident, they would all have been sued. Who’s the CEO of that agency?”
Kim Seok-hwan calmed down his excited tone a little and looked at Hee-seong again.
“How come Hee-sung was paying attention when everyone else was just focusing on filming? I really thought Hee-sung had gone crazy when he suddenly jumped in front of the camera and hugged Kang Se-ra? I thought he was going to cause a major accident because it was the last day. Ha, right.”
I think maybe everyone was thinking the same thing as Kim Seok-hwan at that moment.
While filming was going on in a good mood, a stranger suddenly ran up to Kang Se-ra and hugged her tightly.
I would have immediately tried to punish him, thinking he was a stalker or a crazy person.
However, Heeseong would never have done something so rash if it weren’t for that ‘voice’.
‘What on earth was that? It sounded so vivid.’
Urgent voices were suddenly heard right before filming. There, Heeseong had already encountered Kang Se-ra’s name, lighting equipment, and the word 119.
But the scene was so peaceful that it seemed like no one but himself heard the voice.
I thought I was hallucinating, so I tried to ignore it, but my eyes kept going to the lighting equipment and I kept looking at it.
Just as the voice had predicted, the previously intact lighting equipment suddenly began to bend its head and soon appeared to be in a precarious state about to descend.
Of course, in that situation, I had no time to think about anything else and had no choice but to jump in.
What on earth was this mysterious phenomenon he had experienced?
As if it were a ‘foreshadowing of the future’, it actually happened in reality.
Heeseong’s head was filled with only the voice he had heard and the unbelievable phenomenon.
“Okay, okay, anyway, both Heesung and Kang Se are safe, so it’s okay. Thanks to that, we were able to film the advertisement we worked on for months without any problems. Let’s stop bothering Heesung and go now. We have to go to the office and wrap up today’s filming before we leave.”
Manager Yang Won-ho glanced at his watch and stopped Kim Seok-hwan and Im Eun-ha from speaking.
Then he turned his gaze to Heeseong and lightly patted his shoulder.
“Originally, we were going to finish filming early today and have a company dinner together, but since things have come to this, we’ll have to postpone that until next time. Let’s just rest for today and meet again soon. But we’ve been together as a family for almost two years, so it’s a bit much to end it like this, right?”
Heeseong also nodded his head with a faint smile.
“Yes, I understand, sir. I’m always available, so please contact me whenever is convenient for you.”
“Okay, okay. Anyway, let’s just rest here for today. I’ll contact you again tomorrow.”
Along with Manager Yang’s words, Kim Seok-hwan and Im Eun-ha also greeted Hee-seong.
After a while, when the three people left the room, the already spacious VIP room felt even more desolate.
“phew.”
Until this morning, I never thought that my last day at ‘Line Planning’ would be like this.
Even though I was a part-time worker, I wanted to end my job on a high note after working there for two years.
But, I can’t believe I’m sitting in this hospital room wearing a hospital gown and saying my final goodbyes to my team members.
Even though there was no pain, I felt bitter and sad for no reason.
“… … Starting tomorrow, I’ll be unemployed again.”
For Hee-sung, who had always been a non-regular worker, moments like this were something he had no choice but to face every time.
Since I was a contract worker, I had to leave the company after a certain period of time, so there was bound to be a gap period until I found my next job.
Whenever that period of time became long, I had to work part-time to make a living.
The thought of having to repeat that process again made me feel depressed, as if a big stone was being placed on my chest.
“Well, I guess I have my own way. There’s still plenty of time.”
Even though contract, part-time, and irregular jobs are my limitations right now, I don’t think that will happen forever.
Because all of this will surely become blood and flesh and shine one day.
Whether that becomes reality or not, you have to believe that now in order to move forward.
dripping.
Just as Heeseong was about to stop his thoughts and get up from the bed, a small knock was heard from outside the hospital room.
Hee-sung was about to get out of bed and answer with a voice, but before he could, the door opened slowly and someone appeared.
And then, the moment I saw that face.
Heeseong’s eyes and mouth had no choice but to open at the same time.
