Have Magic - Chapter 120
Only Noblemtl
Embrace the Magic (120)
Little is known about what Rodin did during the night. The dome-shaped shield made of mana, not magic, was not felt by the wizard Betner.
But Charis and Jenna knew what Rodin had done. And Rodin himself knew.
It didn’t take that long. From the time I first stimulated the mana until the dome-shaped shield was created, it only took about 20 minutes in total.
But Rodin felt an inexplicable sense of pride.
The fact that his actions were of great help to someone, that he had succeeded in performing a magic spell that he had only imagined in his head, and even the surprise of performing magic directly with mana rather than magical power.
It felt like something that was missing had been filled.

The ascent continued without any problems, except for a few attacks by demons. The next day, the rain stopped, making the journey much easier.
Five days after leaving Bangst, we arrived at the transit point, the border city of Asir.
“Fortunately, we weren’t attacked by the demons here.”
“But I see a lot of articles?”
“In case a monster comes.”
As I entered the border of Asir, I was subjected to a simple security check. Perhaps distracted by the giant demon, they were not picky.
“When will Wizard Rodin leave?”
“I plan to rest for just one day and then move on.”
“It’s a shame. I wanted to spend more time with you.”
Once they cross the border, the paths of the Crowd Leader and Rodin’s party change.
The top of the crowd was scheduled to move south to the port city of Hasson. The expected schedule was approximately 15 days.
Rodin, on the other hand, had to continue moving westward after crossing the border, an estimated 20 days.
Margaret’s hometown, Hedens, was located at the westernmost end of the Kingdom of Thevia. It was adjacent to the Paloma Mountains, which served as the border with the Western Continent.
“We’ll probably meet again next time.”
“I look forward to seeing you again.”
That was how I parted ways with the Crowd Leader. He said he would stay in Asir for three days, so there was nothing more to see.
“Brother Rodin! Where are you staying?”
“Good place. Comfortable place.”
After leaving Richmond, I stayed in a few towns of reasonable size. Some, like Bengst, were completely ruined, but I usually stayed at the town inn.
But it was his first time staying in a city of this scale. Since he was already staying, Rodin wanted to rest somewhere nice.
Asir was smaller than the Marquisate of Richmond, but it was the most prosperous city in the western part of the Kingdom of Lennox. As a trading city, it lacked almost nothing.
Rodin decided to stay for a day in the annex of the best inn he could find. It was quite expensive, but he didn’t mind paying for it.
“Shall we go out?”
“Is that okay?”
“There’s no way it won’t work.”
Leaving Larry to train and Charis to protect him, Rodin left the inn, taking only Jenna and Bianca with him.
“Do you have anything to buy?”
“Yes. The disease cure potion is almost finished.”
“I think so. I guess I should buy some potion bottles.”
“Yeah. I’ll buy it with my own money.”
Rodin gave Larry and Bianca an allowance once a month, the same day he gave Margaret and Matthew their paychecks.
The amount of pocket money was appropriate for each child’s age. Larry, who is 14 this year, was given 14 gold, and Bianca, who is 12 this year, was given 12 gold.
“Okay.”
Bianca bought 400 containers to hold the potions, and Rodin bought mana stones, mithril, and spices, a specialty of this city.
Jenna’s expression changed into a strange one when she heard the price of the Mithril lump.
“Why? It’s expensive?”
“No, it’s cheap.”
“How much difference does it make?”
“It’s about 1/100?”
The price of Mithril in the present era is much cheaper than it was during the Magic Empire era. The difference was in the amount of use.
“Probably because there aren’t many places to use it.”
“I don’t know much about magic, but I think it’s used a lot in magical artifacts.”
“It’s not used for anything other than hardening metal these days.”
1,000 years ago, the advent of the Demon King brought many problems to the world. The Isko River, which divides the Eastern Continent and the Central Continent, was created at that time, and many magical technologies were also lost.
But Rodin believed that the fundamental problem was related to the fall of the 5,000-year-old Magic Empire.
For some unknown reason, the Magic Empire was suddenly destroyed. Because of this, too much magical knowledge was lost, and humanity suffered a great regress.
If it had been during the time of the Demon Empire, half the continent would not have been submerged in blood to the extent of the Demon King’s descent.
Even the 9th Circle wizards were strong enough to rival the Demon King. There were quite a few such strong people during the Magic Empire era.
So, the Demon King could have been defeated by gathering only the local strongmen without the Empire having to intervene.
‘Why on earth did it perish?’
Princess Elanerien seemed to have prepared for destruction, but she did not write down why she foresaw destruction. It was written so vaguely that it was difficult to guess.
‘It seems that even Proval anticipated the destruction.’
I had a similar feeling in Proval’s welcoming class.
There was no direct mention of the end or destruction.
Instead, the phrase “education needed in a ruined world” came up a few times. It was expected that most people would die from something and the world would be in ruins.
“I don’t understand. Mithril has many uses.”
“Mithril has excellent magical conductivity, but that’s only when it’s been specially processed. But now… ”
“You don’t know how to do that.”
“That’s right. It’s a technical issue after all.”
I walked around the shopping district and bought everything I needed.
Rodin stopped by a nearby restaurant with Jenna and Bianca. Charis and Larry decided to eat food provided by the inn.
“Oh.”
As Rodin and his party entered, someone in the corner laughed bitterly. The voice was so irritating that Rodin turned his head away.
“Hmm.”
“The little bird has kicked the nest and come out. You have great courage.”
The opponent who challenged Rodin was wearing the robe of the Cedria Tower.
The realm is Circle 4. He was one of the wizards standing behind Elder Kendrick when the altercation with Cedria’s Tower occurred in the Marquisate of Richmond.
‘His name was Holton.’
Rodin ignored his opponent and sat down in the empty seat.
Jenna took stock of the situation and positioned herself between her opponent and Rodin.
Bianca, unaware of the situation, sat across from him and just looked at the menu.
“Rodin, brother! This.”
“I should eat the same thing too.”
The food came out shortly after we ordered it. Since there was a high turnover rate, it seemed like they were making some dishes continuously.
While Rodin and his party were waiting for their meal, Holton of the Cedria Tower disappeared from the restaurant. He had returned to his quarters to report Rodin’s presence to the Tower.
‘I hate annoying things.’
If something was going to happen, I had to do it properly. I steeled myself and finished my meal.
* * *
Holton returned to his quarters and took out his communication bead. The communication wavelength was already fixed to the Cedria Tower, so there was no need to touch it.
I injected magic power into the communication bead. Then, while reciting the runes, I waited for communication to be established with the magic tower.
“Huh? Why is it like this?”
I waited for a long time, but there was no news from the other side. I repeated it several times just in case, but it was the same.
“Could it be that the communication bead is broken?”
I lifted the communication bead up to my eyes and examined it closely. I couldn’t find even a single leak, even after rubbing my eyes.
Holton was a 4th circle wizard. He was at a level where he could perform communication magic without difficulty.
“Why is it like this?”
I pumped magic into the communication bead again. It still wouldn’t connect to the other side.
“Haa, I’m going crazy.”
Holton doesn’t know, but there was no communication between this area and the Cedria Tower. Dozens of wizards who came with the knights of the Kingdom of Lennox were controlling the communication wavelengths.
To capture the giant monster, the Kingdom of Lennox sent no less than 500 knights and all 100 magicians of the Magic Legion to support them.
They were deployed widely to catch the monster, and it was necessary to unify their communication wavelengths to ensure smooth communication.
So they blocked all communication wavelengths except the ones they use.
“Ah! Why on earth! Why! I was trying to report it, why isn’t it working?”
It was no use screaming. No matter how much magic power I poured into it, I couldn’t connect to the magic tower.
“That naughty bastard.”
Holton gritted his teeth as he remembered the guy he had seen at the restaurant.
In fact, Holton didn’t recognize Rodin.
The face could not be seen because the hood was pulled down low. It was impossible to believe that it was the same person because the shape of the robe was similar.
But the girl next to Rodin remembered clearly. She had been investigating Rodin’s house and its surroundings for quite some time since the argument that day.
How many people live in that house, what are their names, what do they look like?
It had been a long time since the investigation was over, so even though Rodin covered his face, he was immediately recognizable by the people around him.
“You’re lucky.”
Holton didn’t have the courage to fight Rodin alone, so he just got angry and didn’t go to see him himself.
Elder Kendrick said Rodin was a 4th circle wizard. He was also a 4th circle wizard. He didn’t think he would lose, but he wasn’t sure he would win either.
So I was trying to report to the rooftop, but the communication just didn’t work. I had a feeling things were going to get messed up.
* * *
The next day, Rodin set out from Asir. An hour later, he crossed the border and entered the kingdom of Thebia.
It was smooth sailing after that.
There was no attack from the expected Cedria Tower. We didn’t even encounter any monsters.
Instead, I heard a story from a village that the knights of the Kingdom of Lennox had failed to defeat the monster. There was also a rumor that the monster that defeated the knights had entered the Kingdom of Thebia.
“It’s strange.”
The Cedria Tower, which I expected to see, is quiet, but I suddenly got closer to the monster. I might meet it while moving.
“Your Majesty.”
“huh.”
Jenna asked, looking back from the stables.
Rodin put down the book for a moment and looked at the stable.
“What will you do if a monster appears?”
“It depends. If civilians are being attacked, we have no choice but to fight.”
If he had noticed the monster approaching from afar, it would have been better to avoid the area. It was not Rodin’s nature to risk his life in a fight where he was not sure of victory.
“Confucius is truly a good person.”
“Me? No way. I’m not a bad guy, but I’m not a good guy either.”
“But didn’t you say you were protecting civilians?”
“That’s not some noble spirit of sacrifice. I can ignore the rocks on the street next door, but I have to clean up the rocks in front of my house. They’re an eyesore.”
Rodin was not the type of person to seek out and do good deeds. Even if some evildoer from afar did something bad, he would think of it as not his problem and just ignore it.
But I couldn’t just leave that villain standing right in front of me. He was an eyesore. Someone I knew could get hurt.
“How many people don’t even do that?”
“Well, it’s not like there’s no chance.”
If someone was so strong that he couldn’t defeat them no matter how strong they were in front of him, Rodin was confident that he would happily endure it with a smile.
Even in the special forces training camp, when he was relatively weak, he never refused to do what he was told. He always silently fulfilled his duties as a trainee and slave.
“I will do my best to protect it.”
“The best thing is not to fight.”
“That’s true.”
“There are demons. There are about 30 of them.”
At Rodin’s words, Jenna called out to Charis. And at the same time, two carriages stopped.
“Brother Rodin! It’s the devil again?”
“Yeah. We meet quite often.”
It had only been three days since I left Asir, and this was my fourth encounter with the demon.
“Shall we handle it all?”
“Wait a minute. Larry, what do you want to do?”
“I will fight.”
Every time the demon appeared, Larry got a real fight. Bianca tried using her strength on Larry once, and then just gave up.
Larry’s swordsmanship was not particularly improved as his strength increased. It might be different when fighting a strong opponent. When fighting a moderately strong opponent, it was similar whether he had strength or not.
