Have Magic - Chapter 124

Embrace the Magic (124)
A day before arriving at Hedens, a small town in the Hedens region, Rodin decided to camp.
It was a place where you never knew when a monster would attack. It was better to rest in a safe place than to risk moving all night.
Dinner was prepared by Matthew.
As expected, Matthew’s cooking was satisfactory. It was not lacking compared to Margaret’s.
After finishing his meal, Larry immediately began sparring with Charis. On one side, there was a continuous sound of shouting and metallic noise.
During that time, Rodin taught Bianca magic. His education was mainly focused on mathematics and runes, but he also occasionally taught her magical associations.
Rodin’s group was busier at night than during the day. As a result, their bedtime was always around midnight.
A dark dawn.
Rodin quietly opened his eyes before Larry even woke up.
As Rodin woke up, Charis and Jenna, who had been on guard duty, approached him.
“Your Majesty, you woke up too early.”
“Please sleep a little longer, Your Majesty.”
“Hmm, something doesn’t feel right.”
I felt an indescribable discomfort. I wasn’t even having a nightmare, but an overwhelming sense of discomfort was taking over my body.
“Would you like to turn around?”
“That’s right. I think I’ll feel better once I confirm it. Jito.”
-Kkueng.
Jito, who had been in the form of clothes, soon returned to his main body. Then, Jenna brought a blanket from inside the carriage and handed it to Rodin.
“thank you.”
“you’re welcome.”
Rodin put on his blanket and looked up at the sky. The sun had not risen, but fortunately the moon was big and bright today.
“Zito, scout out the area.”
-Kkueng.
Jito, who had flown up like a shot arrow, circled around the surroundings. Rodin shared his senses and checked Jito’s vision.
“shit.”
“Why are you like this, Confucius?”
“There’s a giant demon. It’s not that far away.”
A monster was lying on a wide plain. It had dug into the ground and was leaning back, looking relaxed and free of worries or concerns.
“Ah! Is that a giant demon? How far away is it?”
“Just a moment. Jito, look this way and then slowly turn your head towards the giant demon.”
Jito’s gaze slowly moved from the campsite towards the giant demon.
Passing through the mountains and forests, I could see the giant demon lying down. Once I saw the whole thing, I could roughly calculate how far away it was.
“It’s a distance that takes about two hours if I move at full speed.”
“It’s not that close. I think I can avoid it.”
“Yeah. That’s good. If we were closer it would have been difficult.”
The giant demon was like a mass of magical power. If it had come a little closer, Rodin would have noticed.
But people were different. They were much lighter, so you might not notice it in advance.
I’ve heard that there are people who go around saying they want to catch a giant demon or just watch it.
If they wandered around and stirred things up, Rodin and his party might get caught up in a fight.
“How did that big thing get so close? I didn’t even feel any vibrations.”
“It’s not that he came, it’s that we came into the place where he was resting.”
Jito’s eyes could see the wounds on the giant beast’s body. They ranged from small burns to fairly large ones. There were dozens of wounds.
But there was nothing that could be called a fatal wound. Even if Rodin had been hit by that much, he would have been able to shake it off and get up.
“Has it been a long time since you’ve been here?”
“He’s a little hurt. That’s why he’s resting. But… Huh? There are a lot of people around him?”
As I looked at the giant demon from a little further away, I saw people surrounding it. Although they were a few kilometers away from the giant demon, there were thousands of people there.
“There are people around the giant demon. It’s about 10km away, but the situation here is worse. There are many injured people.”
“You’ve already had your fill.”
“I think it’s been about three or four days.”
It looked like they had been fighting fiercely and then both sides retreated.
The giant demon seemed to just want to rest, and those surrounding it seemed to have retreated because they couldn’t hold out any longer.
“I guess we can get back together.”
“That may or may not be the case. The human side doesn’t seem prepared to fight at all. But there are hardly any sword wounds on the giant beast’s body?”
“Are there no high-ranking knights?”
“I don’t know about that either. It’s hard to tell the level of the inspectors just from Jito’s perspective. But there are thousands of people gathered, so there must be high-ranking knights too. Ah! Jito, check that area a little more closely.”
Rodin, who had been slowly scanning the surroundings with Zito’s eyes, quickly stopped Zito. Then, he instructed him to look at one side.
There were at least 100 knights gathered. Jito turned his gaze a little further and saw over 100 knights on the other side as well.
“It’s strange. There are so many knights, so why haven’t they defeated that beast yet?”
“What are you going to do?”
“It’s better to avoid it even if it means going back a little.”
Rodin decided to avoid the fight.
I didn’t know enough about the giant demon to fight it blindly. It might be much stronger than I expected.
There were also three people in the group who were of no help in the fight against the giant demon. If they got caught up in the fight, it wouldn’t have been strange if someone got hurt.
“That would be good.”
“Zito, come back.”
Jito came back in an instant. As soon as he took off his blanket, it stuck to his body and turned into clothes.
Rodin washed up with Undyne’s help and finished his morning exercises. Around that time, Larry and Matthew woke up.
I sweated while practicing swordsmanship with Larry. Matthew prepared breakfast.
“I have something to say.”
After finishing the meal, I called the three of us together.
Rodin informed them that there was a giant demon not far away. He also said that he would turn back a bit to avoid a fight.
“I will do whatever Brother Rodin says.”
“I’ll follow your wishes, hyung. It’s better to be safe.”
“I’m fine too, boss.”
Everyone understood Rodin’s choice.
After finishing the morning schedule, I changed the direction of the carriage. I had to go back the way I came, but I decided to take the risk.
* * *
It took a long time to get there because we had to go around and around for a long time. It was almost lunchtime, but we weren’t getting any closer to our destination.
“Stop!”
At that moment, Rodin shouted loudly and jumped out of the carriage. The surprised Jenna and Charis pulled the reins and stopped the carriage.
“Master, is there a problem?”
“Wait a minute. Fly!”
Instead of answering, Rodin used his magic to fly up. As he rose high enough to see the lush trees from a distance, he began to see his surroundings.
“this.”
The distance to the giant demon has become considerably shorter. Previously, it took two hours to move at full speed, but now it is about 30 minutes.
The problem was the group that brought the monster. Unfortunately, they were heading towards the carriage.
“Haa, this way.”
Rodin came back down to the floor. As if he had been waiting, Larry and Bianca clung to him.
“Brother Rodin! What’s going on?”
“The devil is coming.”
“Here?”
“The knights are luring the giant demons this way.”
Rodin moved away from the crowd to avoid the fight, thinking it was the safe route.
But the knights thought the same thing.
Support is expected from the Magic Tower, but there is still too much time left. I need to somehow buy time by bringing the giant demon with me, and the only way to do that is to lure it to a place with few people.
“Why this way?”
“Ask me about that later. It’s not easy to get out of it.”
It wasn’t a giant demon moving at a moderate speed. It was one that was running at full speed, chasing the knights.
Given the length of his legs, it wouldn’t take him ten minutes to get here. It was too late to turn the carriage around and run away.
“Boss, what should I do?”
“Let me start by saying this. Larry, can you ride a horse?”
“Of course. I practiced so hard.”
When I was in the Marquisate of Richmond, I took the time to teach Larry horsemanship. I wanted to teach Bianca too, but I couldn’t stand it on horseback, so I gave up.
“Can Matthew ride too?”
“Yes, because I was in charge of training the horses at the stable.”
Matthew went to a horse training ranch to learn how to train horses properly. Instead of receiving money, he helped out for several months. Of course, he learned how to ride horses.
“Larry, you know where we took Bianca and rested this morning? Run away there. Matthew, I’ll leave the kids to you.”
“All right.”
“I’ll take care of Bianca.”
“I will also follow you around well, Larry.”
Rodin waved the three away. Matthew untied the horses from the carriage and divided them.
There were four horses tied to two carriages. Matthew and Larry each pulled two horses.
The remaining carriages were stored in Rodin’s subspace. Now only Rodin and the two inspectors who reached the Master remained.
“Phew.”
“Are you nervous?”
“Yeah. I haven’t really been in any dangerous battles.”
I was planning to deal with the giant demon here. If I couldn’t kill it, I had to at least tie it up here.
If we sent him back, it was where Larry and Bianca had run off to. We couldn’t send him back there.
“How about moving?”
“No. This is fine. I’m not the type to be bothered by obstacles that much.”
“Well, Your Majesty, you use magic very accurately.”
“And that guy’s so big. If you shoot him roughly, he’ll get hit anyway.”
This was not a terrain that wizards would like. It was not dense, but there were quite a few trees. Anything on the ground was an obstacle that blocked the view and blocked the magic.
But Rodin didn’t really care.
I was confident in my coordinate calculations. I never accidentally hit a tree. Besides, the sparsely grown trees were not bad for hiding my body.
“Who is coming?”
“They’re knights. They look like anthropoids.”
While we were talking for a moment, strangers appeared before my eyes. They were knights who were luring the giant demon.
“What are you guys!”
“Passerby. Are you the one who lured the demon here?”
“That, that……”
“I should have checked carefully to see if anyone was there.”
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The shaking of the ground grew stronger. It was proof that it was getting closer.
“Run away now.”
“I can’t let him go after this. Please get out of the way and leave me alone. Fly.”
Rodin flew into the sky. He didn’t go too high. He stayed about 10 meters high and looked towards the direction where the demon would appear.
“wizard?”
“Don’t disturb me and get out.”
As the knights hesitated and refused to leave, Charis pushed them aside. Two of the knights fell down after being pushed back hard.
“this guy!”
“How dare you.”
“If you interfere, you will be killed.”
Charis pulled out the spear on his back. A tangible, sapphire-like blade grew from the spear. It was the Aura Blade, the Master’s symbol.
“Oh, Master.”
“Didn’t you hear what Charis just said? He said he’d kill you if you got in his way.”
This time, Jenna stepped forward. As expected, what extended from the sword was an aura blade.
The reason the two of them showed their Auror Blades was to tell them to stop messing around and leave. It was also a declaration that they were no help.
“Master!”
“It’s poison!”
Rodin, who had been in the air, came back down to the ground and used magic on Karis and Jenna.
“Resist Poison!”
It was a magic that increased poison resistance. It was not a perfect immunity, so it was dangerous to come into contact with poison for a long time.
‘So that’s why it was like this.’
There were hardly any sword wounds visible on the monster’s body. The reason for this was that it was unable to approach due to the poison.
Even though there was still some distance, I felt a terrible poison.
At this level, any average knight would be poisoned and die before even getting near it. Even a master swordsman would have to give up fighting without the help of a high-ranking magician.
‘It would be okay if it was a poison that entered the respiratory tract, but why does it have to be a contact type?’
Battle dolls only pretend to breathe, they don’t actually breathe. If it was a poison that penetrated the body through breathing, it would have been okay to ignore it.
However, the poison surrounding the giant demon was contact-based. It was a poison that would harm anything it touched. Even battle dolls had to be careful of this kind of poison.
Knock knock knock!
“Come!”
“Ooh, we keep moving! Run!”
“Run!”
Beyond the trees, the horns of a giant monster were glimpsed. The horns soon transformed into a head, and soon even eyes were revealed.
Only then did the knights who had lured the beast begin to run away. Even though they were running using their auras, the giant beast was getting closer faster.
Thump, thump, thump! Thump! Thump!
The sound of the thing running and the sound of a tree falling were mixed together. And after a while, the thing arrived.
