Have Magic - Chapter 66

Embrace the Magic (66)
An absurd amount of magical power was vibrating in the east. It was something that even Chairman Crate, a 6th circle wizard, could not create.
“Could it be the Archmage?”
I don’t know if a great wizard could create this much magical energy flow. You’d have to have seen a great wizard to know.
“But that doesn’t mean he’s an 8th circle magician!”
Screaming, Rodin hurriedly packed his backpack. He slung two backpacks on each shoulder and opened the window.
If I jumped out the window, I would be right at the stables. I chose the shortest route to get the horses.
Rodin, who was about to jump out with his legs crossed over the windowsill, stopped for a moment.
“Huh? The magic still hasn’t manifested?”
It was taking too long to prepare the magic. If it was a great wizard or an 8th circle wizard, the magic should have been flying by now.
“Ah! It’s concentrated magic.”
I had seen it in a book.
A technique in which several wizards gather their magical power to use powerful magic. This is called magical power concentration.
Magic concentration is a method of gathering the magical power of multiple wizards. The advantage is that the more magical power is invested, the stronger the magic becomes.
However, just gathering magical power did not mean that one could use magic right away. As the magical power of many wizards gathered, each had a different nature, and it took time to calm down this strong-characterized mana.
“I have some time.”
The time it takes to calm the magic is determined by the ability of the wizard playing the central role and the amount of magic power gathered.
With this much magical power flowing, it would be at least centered around a 6th circle magician. Their abilities would not be lacking.
However, the amount of magical power was ridiculously enormous. Even a 6th circle magician would be unable to calm the magical power down in an instant.
“At least a few minutes. Maybe even dozens of minutes.”
Thinking like that, I felt more relaxed. I took my legs back down from the windowsill.
“Phew.”
I took a deep breath and immediately left the room. Then I knocked loudly on the next room, waking up Bronn and his party.
“Hmm. Rodin, what’s going on?”
“Bron, the enemy is here. Pack your bags now.”
“Enemy? Where are our enemies?”
“Anyway, let’s pack. If we’re late, we’ll all die. Someone wake up Ellis too. Aqua shower!”
He shook Bronn’s still sleeping body violently. As if that wasn’t enough, he even created water with magic and poured it on him.
“Oh my, what are you doing!”
“If you want to live, hurry up! Quickly!”
“No. What the heck is this!”
“Quick! I’ll bring the horse to the first floor. Move now. Now!”
Leaving Bronn behind, Rodin hurried to the stables. He took all five horses and waited at the entrance to the inn on the first floor.
Fortunately, Bronn did not take Rodin’s words lightly. He woke up all the party members, who were still hesitant, and quickly packed up and left.
It took less than five minutes for the entire group of Bronn to get down to the first floor. Ellis, who was still awake, was carried down by Baker on his back.
“Let’s go.”
“What’s going on? Explain.”
“I’ll do it on the way. Hurry up.”
At Rodin’s urging, the group also had no choice but to get on their horses.
There was a brief delay due to Ellis still being half-asleep, but Baker somehow got her in and onto the horse.
“Can’t you feel the flow of magic from the west?”
“No, how do we feel the magic? Hey! Ellis, Ellis! Come to your senses.”
Bronn shook Ellis, whose eyes were still closed. Ellis leaned back slightly and frowned.
“Stop shaking me. I’m awake. Just close your eyes. I’m already awake.”
“Do you feel the flow of magic?”
“No. I don’t know.”
“It’s frustrating. Can’t you feel it? The magic power is gathering like crazy in the west?”
Rodin felt frustrated with Ellis not being able to sense magic. He thought that it would be normal for her to feel it now, even if she didn’t notice it when she was asleep.
Ellis, as Rodin saw it, was not someone who lacked magical talent. Despite Malone’s constant teasing, she actually had enough magical talent to enter any magic tower.
However, he was not very smart and was naturally lazy. He also had a distracted personality, so he had trouble concentrating on magic.
“You don’t feel it?”
“Feel it. Ellis has a talent for magic, so you’ll be able to feel it.”
Despite his constant urging, Ellis felt nothing.
All it took to feel the magic that was being felt in the West now was pure magic talent. Ellis was pretty good at that.
But I didn’t feel it at all. If that was the case, then there was a high probability that other wizards didn’t feel it at all either.
‘You don’t know anything about season 1.’
The magical talents of the 11th and 20th trainees of the first period were inferior to Ellis. Since Ellis couldn’t sense it, it was obvious that they could either.
“Oh, I don’t know. I feel like I feel something. But I don’t feel like I feel something.”
“Just run. If you want to survive.”
“Should I keep going on this road?”
“Yes. Let’s go east. To the Ramaton River.”
Bronn and his men quickened their pace. They still had not yet grasped the situation, but their faith in Rodin was what moved them.
“Ellis, focus your magic. Have you heard of it?”
“Huh? That… I learned not to do it because it’s dangerous.”
“That’s right. If the wizard controlling the center loses control, we could all die together.”
“Rodin, what you’re saying is that someone in the west is gathering magic power right now? By concentrating magic power?”
“Yes, that’s what I think.”
At the mention of concentrated magic, Ellis realized that the number of opponents was not small.
Magic concentration is a kind of trick to strengthen the power of magic, and at least 10 people gather together to use magic. It meant that at least 10 wizards gathered in the west.
“Why on earth would you do something so dangerous?”
“You know about the magic concentration process, right?”
“I’ve heard of it. Gather magic, stabilize, and then activate magic. It’s a simple process.”
It was no different from the process of a wizard using magic, except that there was a stage called ‘stabilization’ involved in gathering and using other people’s magic power.
“It’s stabilizing now. That means the magic power has gathered as much as we need.”
“How much do you feel the flow of magic power?”
“At least 7 circles. Maybe more. I’ve never seen an Archmage, so I don’t know for sure.”
Rodin still had no idea how much magic the West could produce. It was an overwhelming amount of magic, something he had never thought possible.
“That’s ridiculous. It would take over 100 wizards to gather that much magical power.”
“The Empire? Why, there was a rumor going around. That the Ingram Empire gathered 500 magicians and created a magic corps.”
“I heard it too.”
“Damn. Isn’t this place already surrounded?”
Only then did Bronn and his men realize the gravity of the situation.
Magic attacks weren’t the only problem. You also had to be careful of the attacks from enemies that would come afterward.
Everyone was asleep and they were running hard on the quiet road. Then Rodin suddenly stopped his horse. When Rodin stopped, the others also stopped and stared at Rodin.
“why?”
“It stopped.”
“what?”
“Magic flow. Stabilization is complete. Magic will begin to fly soon.”
Rodin turned his upper body from his horse and looked back. At Rodin’s action, Bronn and his party also looked to the west without thinking.
“and!”
“Excuse me, what is that?”
A huge fire whirlwind formed in the western sky. The flames were so large that the west became as bright as day.
The flames that had been blazing as if taking over the sky were slowly settling down. It was the direction of the commercial district that Rodin and Bronn had left.
“Fire Blast.”
“That’s Fire Blast? That’s ridiculous.”
“It’s about 10 times bigger, but it’s definitely a Fire Blast. It’s a 6th circle magic. So the person who used the magic at the center is a 6th circle magician.”
“You use 6-circle magic like 8-circle magic.”
It was a magic that was possible because so much magical power was concentrated. It was obvious that most of the magicians who had gathered magical power would be on the verge of collapsing from exhaustion.
“Let’s go.”
“We can’t just let the Empire have its way. They’re the enemy! The Empire has invaded!”
Malone suddenly screamed. It was a scream so loud it broke the silence of the dawn.
Is this revenge for the chase he had at dawn, or is it a noble thought to save lives?
Anyway, Malone’s shout woke up many who were in a deep sleep.
There was a commotion and reactions here and there, and they witnessed the scene outside the window becoming as bright as day.
“I don’t know if that guy is smart or dumb.”
“Just run! Don’t stop.”
“Let’s go! Here we go!”
“The enemy! The Imperial Army has used large-scale magic!”
Malone shouted again, making the streets shake.
Malone had a lot in common with Rant. He was tall and big, and his entire body was a mass of muscle. If you just looked at him from behind, he looked exactly like Rant.
But their personalities were completely opposite.
Rant was a man of few words, saying only what was necessary. He also had a deep voice, giving off an adult vibe even though he was in his early teens.
But Malone was playful and talkative. He would argue with Ellis nonstop and would stubbornly keep nitpicking on the end of each word because he didn’t want to lose.
“Haat!”
“Here it is!”
Many who woke up in the middle of the night witnessed the magic slowly descending. Some hid behind sturdy structures in hopes of survival, while others simply fled to the other side.
* * *
Number 11 Paul and Number 20 Hans of the first Special Forces Training Facility were already awake when the Imperial Army used magic.
They revealed the contents of the secret note they had received in the evening to their classmates and gathered around midnight to decide on their future course of action. They moved from room to room, fiercely exchanging opinions.
If the contents of the note were true, there was no need to be swayed by Lord Kite or Commissioner Keline, who had been sent by the royal family. They could have escaped in the early hours of the morning.
The problem was that the note was false. They all ran away, so if it was a lie, they were dead.
The opinions that came out all night were ultimately divided into whether or not the note could be trusted.
Rodin, number 108 of the 3rd generation, was originally famous.
A genius of great caliber who became a 5th circle magician after 7 years. He was a person who even the committee found burdensome to grow and threw him into the library.
‘If it is true that Rodin wrote the note, then its contents are also believable.’
Up to this point, opinions were easily unified. The only problem was whether the person who handed over the note was really Rodin.
“Wait a minute. I think I recognize the handwriting that number 108 wrote.”
At that moment when he was struggling and unable to make a decision, Paul #11 suddenly remembered the time when they took a class together. Paul quickly grabbed the notebook he had used in class from his backpack.
Rodin was not a man who was stingy with sharing his knowledge. If it didn’t take too long, he was happy to give advice and answer questions.
There were traces of Rodin in the notebook.
After class, when he didn’t understand something and asked, “What does this mean?”, Rodin would quickly write down the key points for Paul to understand.
I compared the font used in the explanation left at that time with the font used in the note I received today.
“Huh? It’s the same.”
“Isn’t that right? Anyone can see that it’s the same handwriting?”
“That’s right. This is left-handed writing. I’m sure of it.”
Having taken lessons together for over eight years, Paul and Hans knew that Rodin was both left-handed and right-handed.
The notebook contained both left-handed and right-handed writing. And the note I received today was exactly the same as the left-handed handwriting.
“Then everyone believes it?”
“If number 108 is true, then it must also be true that the slave stick is fake.”
“You tried to scatter us among various units. I think that’s why. Since you knew the slave sticks were fake, you felt burdened to stick us together.”
The first group had been traveling around the front lines for a year and six months. During that time, they had encountered and fought not the Imperial Magic Corps they had been targeting, but other Imperial forces.
As the battles continued, experience was gained and the crude swordsmanship and magic gradually became refined.
Is that why? Originally there were only two 3rd-dena-level knights, but now there are four. Hans, number 20, who had been in the 2nd circle, became a 3rd-circle magician, and Paul, who was originally in the 3rd circle, has become much more proficient in magic.
Instead, the damage was also great.
The first group of 22 people was reduced to 17. They lost their lives during the battle.
