How to Live as a Knight After the Ending - Chapter 4
Only Noblemtl
Episode 4. The Knight’s Appearance (2)
I walked alone through the alleyways of the city at night.
I quickly parted ways with the workers.
It was awkward to be with him when he was sending me fearful looks.
I raised my head as I was walking down the alley.
It was a deserted street at night, but it wasn’t dark. Unlike the abandoned factory area where the lights were off, this place was filled with light.
I could see tall buildings standing tall in the distance.
“Tirna.”
I took the name of the city in my mouth.
Tirna was literally a huge city. In terms of architecture alone, it seemed to be set in the 19th century, but it felt much more developed than that.
Looking at the buildings filled with light in the distance, my emotions became complicated.
The games I enjoyed the most were medieval fantasy games.
But the scenery that unfolded now was no different from modern times.
From the Middle Ages to the modern era. If we just count the years, hundreds of years must have passed.
The original setting was set in the Middle Ages, with a feel of around the 14th century, so it was okay to think that almost 500 years had passed.
Oh my goodness, 500 years? And that’s the minimum.
This is the world I knew, but it is not the world I knew.
Over the course of 500 years, countless dungeons, ruins, and boss monsters would have all been turned to dust and disappeared under the ravages of time.
I was already at a loss as to what to do.
So it’s ridiculous to say that I know this world.
The only thing you can trust is an incredibly strong body.
‘But where is this?’
He sees bullets flying towards him and cuts them down with his sword.
Even if I could just do this, I would be close to being in the ranks of a superhuman.
‘My character in the game is at max level. I’ve raised all the stats that a knight can raise.’
In this game, the stats are called [Strength], [Agility], [Physical Strength], [Mental Strength], [Intellect], and [Faith], making up a total of 6 major stats.
[Strength] naturally constitutes the power of the body.
The higher your strength, the stronger your melee weapon attack power becomes, and the easier it is to wear heavy weapons and armor. Naturally, this is the main stat of a wandering knight.
[Agility] is both mobility and dexterity. Some weapons require a lot of skill, and some skills require dexterity, so agility is also essential for melee characters.
[Stamina] naturally refers to maximum HP. At the same time, it also affects stamina. In this game, there is an stamina gauge, so it is difficult to continuously attack or run.
If you have high stamina, it becomes much easier.
[Mental Power], on the other hand, means MP, or mana. In addition, it also increases resistance to status abnormalities, mental attacks, and attribute attacks.
[Intellect] is raised by wizards and warlocks and increases the power of spells and magic.
As a wandering knight, I had stats that I could not raise due to my innate limitations.
[Faith] is a stat that is in charge of [Clerics] and [Paladins] among the 6 major stats. However, this stat can also be raised by Wandering Knights, and I raised it all.
All stats can only go up to 99.
And my character got all stats except for intelligence to 99 out of the 6 stats.
And that was me now.
‘It’s fortunate that I didn’t get into a fight on the street and end up dying.’
But we must not let our guard down.
People are like that, but monsters are different.
This game is so crazy that even if you’re at max level, you can easily die from a random mob on the street.
And the question going forward is what to do.
There must be a reason why I was sucked into this world.
In other words, there is a way to go back.
I had to find the cause and the reason.
With one sword.
In a city full of steel and machine-wheels, steam and gunpowder.
Gulp!
At that moment, I had no choice but to stop walking as a loud noise came through the armor belt.
Come to think of it, I haven’t had anything to eat since I came here. Not even a sip of water.
There was no need to eat food in the game since there was no hunger system, but reality was different.
I’m hungry and thirsty. Even a max level character is helpless when he starves.
In particular, this body full of tight muscles would burn a huge amount of calories with just a little movement, so it had no choice but to demand a lot of food.
‘… … Let’s eat first.’
*
A bar in Tirna.
Tinkle!
The door opened with a chime and a guest came in.
Silence fell on the once noisy tavern.
People who had been chatting noisily, clinking their glasses filled with oak barrels of beer, turned their attention to the guest’s appearance.
“… … .”
“… … .”
“… … .”
If it were a normal day, I would have thought he was just someone who came to have a meal or a drink, but this guest’s behavior was extremely unique.
The guest was a knight wearing full body armor, a rare sight in this day and age, if not anywhere.
Clank. Clank.
Every time I walked, I could hear the sound of metal meshing.
He was the only one who didn’t wear a helmet, so his face was clearly visible. With his pure white skin, black hair, and handsome appearance, he reminded people of a young master from a wealthy family.
Ossian, a young man in armor, sat down on a chair in front of the bar table.
Everyone stared at the sight.
Some people wondered if they were hallucinating because they were so drunk.
Ossian took out the money he had stolen from the gang.
“Hey, boss. Let me order something here.”
The moment he opened his mouth and spoke in his charismatic, beautiful voice, everyone in the tavern realized that this was reality.
Groan, groan.
“What is that?”
“A knight? Or a knight-obsessed rascal?”
“Are you crazy? Who wears armor these days?”
This tavern was a place where mercenaries and troubleshooters who did bad things gathered.
As a result, there were some who tried to analyze him by reading articles or showed hostility towards his antics.
Ossian also looked around at the bar patrons, perhaps feeling hostile.
Swish.
He showed off the sword he had at his side to some people who were glaring at him.
-This guy has a knife. Are you still going to bother me?
Ossian spoke with his actions.
In response, some of the mercenaries who had been glaring at him pulled out their pistols from their waistbands and placed them on the table.
-Uh. We have guns. What do we do?
That’s what they were saying.
“hmm.”
Ossian belatedly realized something and naturally turned his head to face the front.
Ossian didn’t specifically say that he could cut bullets with this sword and that he could see and dodge incoming bullets with his body vision.
There’s no need to do that, and even if I told you, you wouldn’t believe me.
However, the mercenaries took Ossian’s actions to mean something else and laughed as they pulled out their guns.
Ossian knew that too, but he didn’t question it openly and just waited for the food he ordered.
“The food you ordered is here.”
In front of Ossian were placed seasoned lamb emitting wisps of smoke, toasted bread spread with butter and cheese, and vegetable soup.
Ossian looked at it with excited eyes, then raised his head and looked at the bartender.
“Where’s the alcohol? If you order a meal, shouldn’t alcohol be included as a basic service?”
Of course, Ossian said that, but he didn’t mean it.
This was close to the behavior of Ossian’s ‘body’, which wanted alcohol.
But despite his arrogant tone, the old bartender asked as if he didn’t care at all.
“What would you like to have?”
“The most poisonous one.”
“All right.”
As he spoke, the bartender took out a bottle with a skull-shaped mark from a shelf full of liquor bottles and poured it gently into a clear glass.
Ossian swallowed his saliva without realizing it when he saw the crimson wine.
It was the moment when I reached out and tried to take my first sip of alcohol in this difficult world.
“Brother. We’re eating something delicious, so why don’t you join us?”
The three mercenaries who had just smiled at Ossian approached him with smiles on their lips.
Ossian stopped his grip on the glass.
The tavern patrons watched the scene with interest.
“The three Dutri brothers.”
“That weirdo is unlucky. He came in when those bad guys were around.”
As you can see from their similar faces, the three were brothers.
As the three Dutri brothers, they lived as mercenaries in the underworld.
Even though he had some recognition as a mercenary in a world of violence, he could tell from what people around him that it wasn’t a very good direction.
Ossian slowly turned his head and looked at the eldest of the three brothers who had spoken to him.
“Do you have any business with me?”
“What’s the matter? I’m just curious. Why did our noble knight suddenly come to a bar like this?”
As the eldest son spoke, he snatched the glass from Ossian’s hand and poured it down his throat in one gulp.
“Ugh! It’s really poisonous.”
“That’s my drink.”
“I thought you wouldn’t be able to eat it, so I ate it for you. Why? Are you grateful?”
The second and third sons burst into laughter at the eldest son’s words.
At that sight, Ossian’s expression turned cold.
Ossian opened his mouth with a heavy expression.
“You have come here to dare insult me.”
At those words, the three Dutri brothers looked at each other and burst into laughter at the same time.
Hahahaha!
The laughter came from all over the tavern, not just from the three brothers.
The noble tone that Ossian used was one thing, but it was not just the way he spoke that made it seem as if he was now certain that he was going to start a fight so openly that it was not just plain funny.
But Ossian spoke in a serious tone, as if he was not embarrassed at all in that situation.
“I feel good right now. So, I will forgive your rudeness just now and go do your business.”
“… … Ha, this kid.”
When Ossian spoke in a considerate manner, the eldest son let out a hollow laugh, as if he didn’t like it.
“You kid, you still don’t understand the situation? Hey, bro. I don’t know what you were thinking coming here in such a ridiculous costume, but the circus is somewhere else, so get out now.”
“… … .”
“What are you going to do if you stare at me? Look at this little brat glaring. Why, why don’t you pull out that fancy sword on your waist?”
The eldest son said this and tried to reach out to Ossian.
But he could not touch Ossian’s armor.
Because even faster than that, Ossian’s fist slammed into his face.
The eldest son’s face was sunken into the shape of a fist. His nose was sunken and his teeth were scattered along with blood.
The eldest son, who was hit, ran across the tavern, broke down the door, and was thrown outside.
The guests who were laughing at the unbelievable sight of someone being knocked out with a single punch all stopped laughing.
“… … .”
“… … .”
Their gaze alternated between Ossian’s outstretched fist and the broken door.
‘Did you just punch someone that far?’
‘Considering the size of the eldest son of the three Dutri brothers, he would probably weigh over 90 kg.’
As everyone watched the scene in bewilderment, the two remaining brothers reacted.
“brother!”
“This fucking kid!”
The second and third sons simultaneously pulled out the guns on their waists.
It was a sawed-off shotgun that was designed to destroy enemies with shotgun pellets at close range.
It took less than a second for the brother to draw his gun at Ossian and pull the trigger.
And that was more than enough time for Ossian to draw his sword from his waist and swing it twice.
Thud. Thud.
“uh?”
“What is this… … .”
The second and third muttered blankly as they watched the severed gun scattering on the floor.
The cut cross-section of the gun was smooth, as if it had been cut with something sharp.
When the two brothers were unable to accept the sudden reality of the situation, Ossian put his sword back on his waist and swung his fist.
Boom! Boom!
A clean one-two straight punch.
The second and third brothers, who had been hit in the face like the eldest brother, were also blown away and bounced out the door of the tavern.
The tavern was once again enveloped in silence.
Everyone was astonished and amazed by the incredible physical prowess and martial arts that Ossian had just displayed.
Ossian, who had created that scene, spoke lightly to the bartender who was staring at him intently.
“Take the price of the broken door from those three guys.”
Even the bartender, who never showed his emotions, nodded with a bewildered expression.
