How to Live as a Knight After the Ending - Chapter 41
Only Noblemtl
Episode 41. Failed Request (1)
I couldn’t help but think that the moment I saw it.
He was dressed in a neat, tailored suit, and with the hat pulled down on his head, anyone could tell that he was a mafia.
The number is around thirty.
They were all of considerable size, and it was clear that they were using their bodies.
But what caught my eye was the man at the center of the group.
They were all wearing dark blue suits and flat caps, commonly called bonnets, except for one person.
A perfectly fitting white suit and a white fedora on his head.
He even wore frameless glasses on his face.
At first glance, it was impressive to see that the hair color revealed around the neck was dark gray.
Unlike everyone else who had a fierce impression, the man in the white suit had a slender and neat appearance.
If other people are the action captain, that person feels like a secretary or an accountant.
‘It certainly looks like there’s something there.’
He was clearly the most ridiculous looking person, but that was why he was not to be underestimated.
I naturally looked after other people too.
As expected from Tirna, a city where all kinds of people gather, the people waiting all had strong personalities.
Among them, the group that caught my eye in another way was a group that gave off a biker-like vibe.
The number is about 10.
The outfit she was wearing was a funky leather style, with scratch marks all over her head and dyed dark pink, green, and blue.
Just by looking at their studded gloves and boots, you could easily tell what kind of group they were.
It wasn’t a style you’d often see in the city, and it was clearly from a scrap heap in the late 40s district.
‘And the people standing over there, there are quite a few in number.’
The number is three.
It’s quite small to be called a group, but considering their position, they are not inferior to other groups.
Of course, those three are magicians.
I wore comfortable cotton pants, a dress shirt, and a suitable vest.
On top of that, they wore robes that were refined to fit modern clothing, thereby revealing that they were magicians.
The wizards in the game mostly wore baggy clothes that looked like they would blow away in the wind, but the wizards of today didn’t seem to do that.
‘You don’t even have to wear a cone-shaped hat on your head anymore.’
It was one of the reasons why I didn’t raise a wizard.
The clothes that wizards wear are basically unfashionable. You could say that they are difficult to look good in.
I chose the knight because I thought that if I was going to do it, I might as well wear nice armor.
But the wizards of this era don’t seem to have that. Rather, I even thought they were cool when I saw them.
‘If I had known this would happen, I would have raised a wizard.’
Even while having such pointless thoughts, I didn’t stop exploring my surroundings.
There were people wearing some sort of old-fashioned wetsuit, and there were also people with prosthetic arms carrying heavy weapons.
If you look at their appearance, there isn’t a single one of them who is ordinary.
They were all people who came out to accept the witch’s request.
‘Do I have to compete with these people?’
If we look at this place, I’m probably the one with the least experience.
That’s because it hasn’t been that long since I became a problem solver.
Although I have succeeded in completing several commissions, the results are insignificant compared to the entire city of Tirna.
So I never forget the heart of a person who takes on a challenge.
Cheeeeek!
A plume of pure white steam rose from the stopped train.
At the signal that the train was about to depart, people waiting at the station began to board the train.
Some people were loading something into the luggage compartment at the end of the train.
I checked the ticket Ronan had given me. It said second class.
‘It’s second class.’
As the world became more capital-oriented, even trains like this were divided into different classes.
1st class, 2nd class, 3rd class, and luggage compartment.
First class cars are seats created by remodeling an entire car of a train.
It occupies the very front of the train and its interior is so neatly decorated that it puts you in a hotel room. Naturally, only very wealthy people could ride it.
And the second class is what people commonly call economy class.
However, it is not that good, and you can only go there while sitting down.
Still, it’s better than third class.
There is no room to sit in the third class. Literally, everyone has to stand.
And most of the people in this city, when they take the train, they crowd into third class.
It’s about holding on until you arrive on a rattling train, packed with people with no room to stand.
It was very fitting for a world where lodging meant hanging one’s body on a clothesline to sleep.
‘In that sense, is it fortunate that I even got the Iranian seat?’
This was a part where you could feel Ronan’s meticulousness and thorough preparation.
When I entered the train car with seats, it was full of people.
‘Oh. Was that the mafia just now?’
I don’t know if they’re a real mafia or not. I just named them that because they looked that way.
It seemed like the seats I was trying to take were all taken by these mafia.
They also noticed me and turned their attention to me.
Could it be that they are unhappy because there is an unexpected person in the room where they thought they would rent?
Since I didn’t care anyway, I just walked down the aisle to find a seat naturally.
Bam.
Then I bumped into someone’s shoulder.
Even though the passage was narrow, I couldn’t help but notice this. The other person had come to me on purpose and bumped into my shoulder.
And of course, the predictable response came back.
“What the hell are you, kid? Huh? If you hit someone on the shoulder, shouldn’t you apologize?”
The grim face became even more distorted, as if looking at a crumpled piece of paper.
I didn’t respond to that.
Perhaps he didn’t like that behavior. He raised his hand and reached out to me.
It looked like he was trying to grab me by the collar, but I didn’t move even though his hand was within arm’s reach.
But the moment I caught it, I vowed that this was the first time I would show off my sword here.
“What are you doing?”
At that moment, a voice breaking the labor pains was heard.
It was a small, calm voice, but it was heard more clearly than anyone else in the train car.
The member of the organization who was about to reach out to me became thoughtful and stood at attention.
I looked at the owner of the voice with indifferent eyes.
That’s him. A man wearing a pure white suit and glasses.
“Didn’t you ask what I was doing?”
“That, that’s why this guy didn’t even apologize after bumping into me… … I’m sorry!”
“Noisiness is prohibited on the train.”
It was an extremely moral and common sense thing to say, but it sounded quite out of the blue in the current situation.
However, the organization member immediately backed off, saying he understood what was being said.
The other members of the organization who had been expecting a fight also sat quietly in their seats, very nervous.
Just looking at that appearance, I could tell how strictly he usually disciplined his organization members.
I saw a man approaching me.
He saw me too.
The two of us remained silent as if exploring each other.
But the silence didn’t last long. The first to speak was a man with ash-colored hair slicked back.
“I’m sorry. Our staff has been very rude.”
A tone of polite apology. Even a bright smile.
I also responded in agreement with him.
“It was just a small thing.”
“Is that so?”
The other person didn’t show any particular reaction to my tone of voice.
Well, that can’t be helped.
Because the guy didn’t look at me favorably from the beginning.
“You didn’t introduce yourself. My name is Balud.”
“Ossian.”
“We apologize again for our staff’s rudeness.”
With those words, Balud left the place.
His speech and actions were neat, but his eyes were quite vicious.
Still, it’s fortunate that we don’t have to fight.
Because I also wanted to avoid starting work before I even received the request.
I sat down with that thought in mind. The gazes around me were still harsh, but I lightly ignored them.
Luckily, my seat was by the window, and as soon as I sat down, the scenery outside the window started to flow backwards.
The train has departed.

“I heard. You said you sent our youngest?”
It was something Lorraine said to Ronan as soon as he entered the tavern.
Her eyes were questioning Ronan as to why he didn’t stop her.
“Oh. You get the news quickly.”
“Okay. Are you in your right mind? Are you seeing Petra in a Vatican-related matter?”
“Is there a problem?”
“Ha. Problem? Of course. To begin with, Ossian has only recently entered this industry. As for his power, I admit it. With that level of power, he’ll be treated well wherever he goes. But you know?”
“This is an industry where not everything can be controlled by force alone.”
Lorraine slammed her palm on the table.
“Yeah! And look at the people who got involved in this. The School of Magic is one of them, but there’s also the North Blinders, a crime firm involved! That vicious mafia.”
“I know.”
“You know?”
Lorraine’s eyes opened wide in surprise.
Ronan gently rotated the ballpoint pen he was handling with his finger while organizing the papers.
“That’s not all. There are also enhanced humans from Bleeding Edge and biker gangs from Scrap Iron Pile.”
“You’re sending your youngest to a place like that?”
“Is that something that a person who didn’t even treat you like the youngest should say in front of you?”
Lorraine was speechless at Ronan’s remark.
Ronan smiled slightly at that sight. Even with her actions, Lorraine was saying this because she was worried about Ossian.
Even if they are stronger than you and have a difficult atmosphere to deal with, they are colleagues who work in the same office.
“I had a calculation that it would be possible. But more than that, Mr. Ossian himself said he would go. That was his own will. It’s not something I can interfere with.”
“Your role is to hold the reins just in case.”
“That’s right. If it’s dangerous, I’ll catch it. The reason I didn’t catch it is because I didn’t think it was necessary.”
“Isn’t that witch greedy?”
Ronan shrugged slightly at Lorraine’s sharp remark.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous. You’ve been quietly living outside, and now you’ve requested asylum. There must have been some reason behind it. But more importantly, you’re Mr. Ossian.”
“You sent it even though you knew.”
“Mr. Ossian is growing at an unbelievable rate. His growth is so fast that I couldn’t even predict it. That’s why it’s dangerous.”
Ronan spoke in a much calmer tone.
“Success is good. Who in the world would turn that down? But sometimes the pain of failure is also necessary.”
“That’s definitely not something a normal broker would say.”
Usually, brokers want their problem solvers to succeed and not fail.
Because the success of the request means immediate benefit to the broker.
But Ronan was more worried about Ossian’s future.
If you keep running on the road to success, your brakes will eventually break.
If you fall at that moment, you will never get up again.
So, it would be better to experience failure now.
Lorraine also stuck out her tongue when she realized Ronan’s intentions.
“Yeah. You really do have a twisted personality.”
“Oh. When you say that, I feel really hurt.”
“How dare you joke around. You don’t even think about it.”
Ronan slumped his shoulders, as if he was hurt.
Of course, to Lorraine, it seemed like nothing more than an exaggerated joke.
Ronan found that really sad.
This is done with pure intentions, so why do people not understand my heart?
Even when I told the truth, people didn’t believe me and instead were wary.
‘Really. It’s a tough world out there.’

The train leaving Tirna ran hard on the tracks.
Outside the city lay vast wheat fields.
Harvesters could be seen here and there among the golden fields.
It was a steam-powered, quadrupedal chariot with a sickle on the front that automatically rotated to harvest wheat.
I thought it was quite an amazing sight, but I stayed still because I still had time to spare until my destination.
At that moment, I raised my head as a feeling flashed across my mind.
‘what?’
The moment you think that way.
Boom!
The collision shook the tracks with a huge explosion.
