How to Live as a Knight After the Ending - Chapter 88
Only Noblemtl
Episode 88. Dyke Goldilocks (1)
The situation has been sorted out.
Delon opened his mouth as he watched Sebastian being carried away on a stretcher.
“Let’s wrap this up now.”
After stopping the bleeding from his head, Delran led Ossian to where his father, Dyke, was.
The second floor of the mansion is off-limits to visitors.
The incident that had occurred in front of Dyke’s room had already been resolved.
Although the corpses had already been cleared away, the bloodstains, bullet marks, and black soot marks here and there told of a fierce battle that had taken place here.
Ossian carefully examined the traces.
You could tell that more than half of the fifty or so people were traitors just by looking at the number of bullets embedded in the walls and floor.
The bullets they fired alone must have amounted to thousands of rounds.
But there was one particularly unique part that caught my eye.
‘What the heck is this?’
There was one area that was unusually intact.
Even amidst the hail of bullets, the walls were intact and the carpets were clean, as if there had been no trace of violence.
It was as if bullets and bombs had avoided this area, as if it were a sanctuary.
‘Human form?’
Ossian had the impression that the shape drawn by the bullet marks somehow resembled a human figure.
Why does the image of Fernando suddenly warning her to be careful come to mind?
‘I thought it was something out of the ordinary from the first time I saw it, but it looks like there’s something there too.’
Dustin, who had been waiting at the entrance, bowed his head toward Delran as if he had been waiting for him.
“Are you here?”
I don’t know what their relationship was like before, but at least Dustin seemed much more respectful to Delon than he was to his eldest son.
“Lord Dyke is waiting.”
“Go in.”
Delran also naturally accepted Dustin’s attitude.
He had already finished preparing himself mentally.
Dustin opened the door and Delran, Ossian, and Elise went inside.
Inside the room, there was a large bed and was filled with all sorts of fancy objects, famous paintings, and odds and ends.
An old man was sitting on the bed with his upper body raised.
“Are you here?”
It was an overly polite voice for an old man of his age who wouldn’t be strange even if he were to die today.
He was filled with even more power, and unlike his wrinkled face, his eyes were filled with a fierce fire.
If Delran were to age here for a few decades, that’s exactly what he’d look like.
“You’re awake.”
Delon sent a brief greeting to his father, Dyke.
Dyke chuckled, perhaps because he was throwing out such a greeting even though he already knew that it was all his own doing.
“But among my children, you and the youngest are the ones who worry about me.”
“Was I a child?”
It was a sharp remark with a bone to it, but Dyke didn’t even blink.
“Then what if you’re not my child? If I take you outside, everyone will look at you and me like we’re rich.”
“So, do you feel better now?”
“Wouldn’t it be refreshing to have cut out the rotten flesh that needed to be cut out?”
Dyke’s gaze turned to the opposite side of his bed.
There were three people there, subdued and on their knees.
First, David Goldilocks.
Second, Marsili Goldilocks.
And finally, a middle-aged woman who looked quite old.
She was Darcy Goldilocks, Dyke’s wife and the matriarch of the Goldilocks family.
Although her actual age was probably over 60, thanks to skin treatments and money, she looked like she was in her 40s.
She was a rich woman who would be treated well wherever she went, but now it was different.
A loser who dreamed of rebellion but ultimately failed.
There was a complex emotion in Dyke’s eyes as he looked at Darcy.
“You say it’s cool, but it seems a bit awkward.”
Dyke laughed at Delran’s comment.
He said he was okay, but it couldn’t have been okay. After all, his wife, with whom he had spent more than half his life, conspired with her children to kill him.
Did he sense those feelings from Dyke?
Even the youngest, who used to be very talkative and oblivious, was now just standing quietly with his hands clasped together.
“I guess I’m getting old too. I’m not like I used to be.”
“What would you have done in the past?”
“I’ll be furious.”
“Are you not angry now?”
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get angry. I get angry. But I don’t express it outwardly like I used to, I just keep it inside.”
“If you keep it inside, you’ll get sick.”
“Are you making fun of this old man now?”
“I was worried about you.”
Delon didn’t say a word.
Just as Dyke had his own set of events, Delon also almost lost Sebastian, whom he cared about.
It seems as if he read the emotions contained in the eyes of the third child who was also an illegitimate child.
“When I look at you, I think of my youth. It’s like looking into a mirror, I can still clearly see myself when I was your age.”
Dyke smiled as if he found it peculiar.
“But you’re actually better than I used to be. You already know how to control your anger.”
“Why on earth!”
Then David, who was kneeling, shouted.
He looked at Dyke with hateful eyes, as if he couldn’t understand why he was being treated this way.
“Why would you leave your fortune to that bastard!”
It would have been understandable for Dyke to have been angry at his eldest son for arguing with him when he had already cried and apologized for his mistake, but Dyke responded with a much more calm expression.
“The point at which you ask that is that you can’t.”
“Aren’t I the eldest son? I have been supporting my father’s business from the closest point of view for a long time longer than anyone else!”
“What have you done? All of this is the business I started. Do you think you’ve become smart just because you’ve run a few small businesses that I threw at you to gain some experience?”
“I could have done better if I had been given a bigger chance!”
“I guess I’ve made a big mistake. I’m tired of trying to persuade you like this.”
David bit his lip.
In the past, there were times when Dyke would look down on him as the eldest son and scold him, but he never said that he had completely given up on him like he does now.
I had high hopes for him since he was my blood, but this incident has completely dashed those hopes.
“So, are you saying you’re going to kick out all the children of the people who helped you?”
It was then that Dalshi, who had been quiet, opened her mouth.
Dyke responded with a cold look to his wife, who was glaring at him with a poisonous gaze.
“What’s wrong with killing the person who tried to kill me when I’m sick? Even if I chewed up all of you bitches right now, I wouldn’t feel satisfied.”
David averted his eyes, intimidated by her gaze.
But Darcy didn’t avoid that gaze.
Although she was the wife of a wealthy family, she was also a woman who overcame her own share of adversities to get to where she is today.
“David and Marcy were moved because I instigated them. So please just look after the children.”
“Does doing as you’re told make it not a crime? That’s a convenient way of calculating.”
When even the seeds did not work, Dalshi appealed to her siblings this time.
“Don’t you have any respect for children?”
“You were the one who cut off all ties with your parents and husband. You cut them off so sharply that I didn’t even have time to look back.”
“So, are you sure this is the end?”
“Isn’t that because you wanted to see me?”
Darcy bit her lip.
“If you’ve been with me for a long time, you’ll know that once I make up my mind, I won’t change it even if the heavens turn upside down.”
“that…….”
“I gave you a chance, and you guys were the ones who kicked it away instead of taking it. So if you want to blame me, blame your stupid past instead.”
Dyke turned his head and asked the youngest, Maria.
“Do you also think that this father’s decision is harsh?”
“What can I say?”
Maria immediately backed away as if she had nothing to do with this matter.
‘When I see things like this, I realize that he is a genius at judging situations.’
Ossian saw Maria again.
Finally, with no other option, Darcy glared at Delran with a poisonous gaze.
A gaze dripping with hatred. If a gaze alone could tear a person apart and kill him, Delon would not have left a corpse behind.
“If only you, if only you hadn’t existed!”
“Then why don’t you give those two rascals a good education?”
“What, what did you say?”
“So that’s why you’re handing over the crown to an illegitimate child like me.”
“this person……!”
At Delran’s sharp words, Darcy’s hair turned red from head to toe.
I was so angry that I couldn’t even speak properly.
Delran realized from the conversation that he would be the next head of Goldie Run.
So he had nothing more to do or notice.
“Are you going to continue wasting your time like this? Father?”
Delon said, deliberately emphasizing the word father.
Darcy Goldilocks tried to jump up from her seat, but the surrounding security guards held her down and made her sit down.
“Who dares touch these people! Do you want to get fired?!”
David shouted in anger, but the bodyguards remained silent.
David who is always swearing, Darcy who doesn’t admit his mistakes, and even Marcy who is trying to figure out if she will let him off if she pretends to be pitiful.
“This is a sight I absolutely cannot stand. Let me go.”
At Dyke’s words, the bodyguards led the three men out.
They tried to struggle somehow, but it seemed impossible to escape the grasp of the menacing bodyguards.
“And Maria.”
“Yes. I have something to talk about with my friend, so I’ll be going now!”
Maria took Elise’s hand and ran away before Dyke could even say a word.
Elise, who was not even interested in this series of events, waved her hand at Ossian with a blank face and disappeared.
All that remained were Dyke and his loyal henchmen Dustin Kruger, Dellan, and Ossian.
“Since you’ve come this far, you probably know what I’m going to say.”
“Yes, well. Since I’ve been given the opportunity to wear this hat, I’ll try my best.”
“Yes. With your abilities, it’s definitely possible. Your personality is also better than my old self.”
“Then, how much more difficult it must have been for my father in the old days.”
“Kuhahaha. This loser. Is that what you say as soon as you’re sure of your position? You should be a little happier.”
“I have been through so many things up until now that it is hard to be happy.”
At those words, Dyke asked in a complicated voice.
“Do you still blame me? For not taking care of your mother.”
“Why should I be resentful? You gave me a mansion better than this villa, and you let me eat delicious food and wear nice clothes.”
“It was a life where I only looked forward and ran to make money. Now that I’m at this age and finally looking back, it’s filled with things I truly regret.”
Dyke’s voice, which had been cold and stiff until then, softened.
“I won’t come here and ask you for forgiveness now. My sins are too many and too deep. But I will give you one piece of advice. Take care of and cherish those around you. That’s the only thing I’ve ever done well.”
At those words, Dustin nodded with a heavy face.
“I do it enough even without my father telling me.”
“And be careful to choose people.”
Dyke’s gaze turned to Ossian.
“Well, you don’t have to worry about that. The problem solver you choose is a hundred or a thousand times better than some organization with a fancy name.”
The moment Dyke saw Ossian, he knew immediately that he was no ordinary troubleshooter.
“It’s much better than that.”
Dustin’s eyes widened at Ossian’s words.
It was the first time I’d seen someone take it a step further and respond arrogantly, even though Dyke had complimented him.
Dyke’s eyes widened for a moment at Ossian’s answer, then he burst into hearty laughter.
“Hahaha! Yes! That’s even better! Whose son chose that person!”
Among them, Dyke, who naturally moved on to bragging about his children, was no slouch.
Dustin, who was watching nervously in case Dyke got angry and said he was being presumptuous, calmed his heart inside.
Dyke, who had been laughing for a while, looked at Ossian with a sharp gaze and asked.
“I’m sure you’ve already received the request, but as a father, you saved my child’s life, so I should give you compensation separate from the commission.”
The corners of Ossian’s eyes twitched slightly at the word compensation.
“Yes, sir. What do you want from me, one of the richest men in Tirna?”
