How To Tame an Academy Dragon - How To Tame an Academy Dragon chapter 46
46. Becoming a Temporary Quartermaster at the Academy
As we approached the warehouse where the firecrackers were stored, the soldiers guarding the warehouse conducted another inspection.
Chad grumbled that he hadn’t seen the check at the entrance, but he was a soldier who said he couldn’t help it by the rules.
“No, that’s what I mean. That’s always yes… Thank you for your hard work.”
Chad, who had been slacking off, was embarrassed by the serious attitude of the soldiers and bowed his head.
After confirming our identity, the soldier told us to wait and pressed something similar to a bracelet on his wrist.
A bracelet that flashes red as soon as a soldier presses it. It’s not a machine, I implicitly predicted that it might be a special device that has been treated with some kind of magic.
After waiting for a while, I took a closer look at the warehouse.
The outer walls of the warehouse were made of a dull black matte material, but at least it didn’t look like iron.
I wanted to touch it because I was curious about what kind of material it was, but I didn’t take action because I was worried that it might cause strange suspicion.
The next thing that caught my eye was the gray warehouse door and a circular device made like a dial attached to the center of the door. Looking at the keyhole, it seemed to be a lock, but it was a very strange structure.
While I was looking around the warehouse, two people walked out of a small building opposite the warehouse.
One of them was dressed in the uniform of a guard captain of the imperial army, and the other was wearing a robe mixed with dark purple, and he was holding a staff in his hand.
I saw the two laughing and talking as if they were quite close, and soon the soldiers saluted them as they arrived in front of us.
“Thank you for your hard work. My name is Darka, the commander of the guard who was appointed as the person in charge this time. This is me.”
The captain of the guard, who quickly introduced himself while being saluted by the soldiers, was a manly-looking man with very distinct features.
Unlike the captain of the Darka Guard, who seemed to have a strong personality, the impression of the wizard he was with was the exact opposite.
“Nice to meet you. My name is Rex Perry from the Peleheim Magic Tower.”
Rex Perry wears a pair of expensive monocle glasses on his left eye.
Antique golden lines draped under the monocle, and the mage tower’s clothes, which were close to the design of the bachelor’s uniform, created a mysterious atmosphere, perhaps because of the color.
It was an empty look that seemed to have lost its vitality, perhaps because the eye wearing the monocle was injured. The feeling that the right eye is looking at us properly, but the left eye has no idea where it is looking.
“Rex Perry…? Rex Perry… Rex…”
As soon as he was introduced by the magician belonging to the Peleheim Magic Tower, Chad frowned and muttered to himself.
Have you come to mind when you hear his name? While Chad got his head rolling, Bamir represented us and introduced us.
“This is Bamir Heman, the supply leader of Belfia Academy. This is Chad Oregon. And this is Raj…”
Contrary to the first time I heard Bamir and Chad’s last name, I had no last name at all, so Bamir stopped his words and looked at me.
But looking at me, I can’t help it. I don’t even know my last name…?
There is no continental person without a family name. Unless you’re hiding your last name for reasons you can’t tell others about.
My grandfather and grandmother who passed away didn’t give me any last names, and she hadn’t had any inconveniences in living so far, so she didn’t even think about it.
At this point, should I make a rough surname? But is it okay if I just make my own?
“Ah, Aster. This is Raj Aster.”
What came to mind was my old name.
Aster because a comet passed over the sky that died in red light the moment I was born. My name, which means star, must have belonged to a noble class for a demon.
It was my last name that was improvised and created on the spot.
“Star in ancient language.”
A true wizard. As soon as I heard that I was fluent in the ancient language, I recognized the meaning behind my last name.
Rex Perry heard my name, touched his chin, then smiled and held out his hand to me.
“It’s a star that rises again…It’s a very nice name that feels like the sun shining on the world.
After hearing what he said, it was indeed so. I’m sure he said it meant rising again when he named him Raj.
A star that rises again. It was rushed, but the meaning turned out to be very cool. It’s more a dream than a dream.
“Ah. Thank you.”
Rex Perry pushed aside Bamir, the supply leader, and asked me to shake hands first. I wondered if this was okay, but Bamir didn’t seem to care too much. He was moving his fingers as if he wanted to start working rather quickly.
“I want to check it out soon… hahahahaha.”
“Oops. I’m sorry. It’s an ancient language I learned when I was young, so I’m happy to stop.”
Rex Perry smirked and fell backwards. It was only after he got out of the way that the captain of the guard came forward and shook hands briefly with Bamir, and the fireworks warehouse was opened under his observation.
The opening and closing device, which consists of a total of three locking devices, had a circular structure.
Three circular locks were structured to open the next lock by unlocking them with each key.
The outermost lock had to be opened with my key. Next was Chad, and the innermost was the key to Bamir.
The keys were unlocked one after another, and each time a complicated device clicked and the disc began to rotate.
“Oh, I put a lot of effort into this.”
It was Chad’s evaluation.
I thought it was just a complicated device, but when the discs were separated into three and rotated with a sound, we realized that the disc-shaped lock had a picture on it.
The figure of an eagle soaring into the sky with its wings spread. It was the eagle symbol of the imperial family.
The disk was placed in the right direction and the eagle became a complete figure, but strangely, the door of the warehouse did not open.
“For a moment.”
Rex Perry stepped out at that time.
Lifting his wand forward, Rex Perry began to recite an incantation toward the door, and soon golden mana flowed from his wand and seeped into the locks of the warehouse.
Then, this time, the lock that generated the bright light was folded in a strange movement and compressed into a single point, and the lock turned into a small eagle piece.
“It’s bloody…”
Witnessing the magic, Chad stuck out his tongue, and Rex Perry smiled at us as he lowered his wand.
“Is it magic?”
“That’s right. It’s a kind of fantasy magic.”
Rex Perry gave a simple answer to Bamir’s question. Bamir didn’t ask more than that, whether it was out of courtesy.
“How to open the door.”
“I do that too.”
Rex Perry raised her hand and swung it from left to right, and to her surprise, the door started to move on its own. It looked like it was heavy, but the door moved smoothly without the slightest frictional sound.
After about 10 seconds, the warehouse door was fully opened and we were finally able to enter the warehouse where the firecrackers were stored.
Compared to the size of the warehouse, the amount stored was shabby. Firecracker boxes stacked in one tier used about 20% of the warehouse space, which was the height of inefficiency.
“Let’s get started.”
Bamir, who brought paroos from one side of the warehouse, handed them out to me and Chad.
The process of checking the actual quantity of firecrackers was simple, yet very cumbersome. After opening the box, the three of them huddled together and counted the fireworks with their eyes.
Each box had different types of firecrackers, so we had to carefully check and record them, but while we were doing that, the captain of the guard and Rex Perry were away for a while.
They reappeared when I was about to open the third box, carrying boxes with locks attached.
“You can move the checked firecrackers to these boxes.”
Since it is impossible to keep it in a box whose seal label has been torn off, it seems that they are moving it to another box and locking it.
Count by eye, move by hand, and lock after the captain of the guard checks once more. A simple yet very cumbersome and time-consuming task.
“Oh, my eyes, my waist, my wrists, my legs.”
Chad groaned about halfway through the work.
“Let’s take a break.”
The captain of the guard agreed with Chad’s words as if he were tired, and that’s how we had our first break.
Bamir and Chad stretched out from their seats, and Darka, the captain of the guard, went out to get some fresh air.
I didn’t have a weak body enough to feel muscle pain.
“Hey. Take a break when everyone is resting. Do you notice?”
“Lay down dude~”
“I’ll just do this and rest.”
Bamir and Chad hinted at it. Even if their words were harsh, they were really kind people.
“We are here to help.”
As I was picking up the trash by myself, Rex Perry came over and helped me. My name is a wizard, but can’t I clean it with one swing of my wand?
It reminds me of cleaning magic, one of the dreams I always imagined as a child. With a swing of the wand, a dirty space is completely cleansed.
“I’m sorry, but my specialty is fantasy magic… If that’s the case, I can make it clean with illusion. Shall I?”
“Uh…No.”
After drying Rex Perry, who even lifted his cane as if he were saying it sincerely, I had a hunch that perhaps this person must have lost a lot of screws.
After resting for about 20 minutes, we energized again and went to work. Still, my body was relaxed, and I had some tips, so I was able to finish my overtime work in no time.
Kiyiing…Chunk!
Opening in the morning ends when the locks assembled in the reverse order of entry make a heavy sound. It was two hours later when we left the warehouse and received the warm sunlight.
“It took a long time to change the box today, and it won’t be as hard as it is now in the evening.”
If you go through the verification process as Bamir said, it might be over in an hour.
“Come to think of it, you haven’t told us the firecrackers have arrived yet.”
On the way back after parting ways with Guard Captain Darka and Rex Perry after work, Chad asked Bamir.
It turned out to be true. I heard something like firecrackers are coming, so get ready, but I didn’t hear that they had already come in.
“Confidentiality. I didn’t know these.”
“I’m really sad. Shouldn’t we, the field workers, not know?”
I didn’t even notice the time passing as I was talking behind my back all the way back. When I came to my senses, I was at the supply base checkpoint.
As usual, after proving your identity and recording your entry, you pass through.
Although it was hot in the blazing summer sun, a cool breeze often blew because it was in the forest. And the smell of delicious food carried in the wind signaled that lunch was ready.
A rumbling sound echoed from the stomach of the three at the delicious scent that stimulated the appetite. Since there are men anyway, an atmosphere of wanting to eat quickly rather than being embarrassed was formed, and our steps became twice as fast.
At some point, other vendors were already gathered at the restaurant, which began to appear from far away.
“Hey! What’s on today’s menu…What? Why are they doing that?”
Chad, who had been shouting, said as he made a telescope with his hands. Hearing his words, Bamir and I also looked at the cafeteria with concentration and noticed that the supply officers were not eating, but rather looking at something.
“What are you doing!!”
Chad runs first, perhaps curious about the actions of the supply officers. He might have smelled it because of his personality, which never shied away from a topical event or work.
Chad ran first, and Bamir and I walked quickly to the food court.
“What is it? Why are they like that?”
“Sure?”
Bamir opened his mouth as he watched Chad squeeze through the crowd of Quartermasters.
Do you have the chin to know me?
As we got closer to the restaurant, we could hear people talking.
Chad jumped out again among the supply officers.
And he didn’t say anything, just looked at me and gave his thumbs up. His face was full of mischievous grin, like that of a child who finds the funniest toy in the world.
Looking at Chad’s smiling face, I felt a sudden sense of anxiety.
“It’s romantic…”
“How did you find out about this place…?”
Woong-goo-go-go.
As I approached enough to hear the conversations of the supply officers clearly, I sensed that their conversations were unusual.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
“Ah! Captain! No, that’s…”
The Quartermasters who heard Bamir’s voice all turned around. Maxell, the career man behind Chad, tried to answer Bamir’s question, but he found me standing next to him and shut his mouth.
And a meaningful smile like Chad’s began to bloom on his face, but the other Quartermasters were no different.

No way. Probably not
A black lizard brushes past his head.
As I approached, like the miracle of Moses, the supply officers split left and right to make a path.
A familiar silhouette seen straight ahead on an open road. Plates were piled up like a tower on the table, as if they had already eaten.
Her belly was slightly bulging, and her school uniform shirt was rolled up, revealing her navel.
“It’s youth, it’s youth.”
I hear Chad’s whispered voice and he turns his head. Chad, who had been teasing me with a soft voice, as soon as our eyes met, flinched with exaggerated gestures and hid among the supply officers.
“Haa…”
My temples are throbbing.
I wanted to disappear for a while after the incident of playing with fire in front of the main building.
It was a Doha Prius sleeping soundly, scratching like an old man with its belly exposed.
