Episode 14 – F-rank Loser’s Activity 6 –
“Abraxas!!!”
A massive explosion occurred due to the dragon’s gesture. Theseus shouted at Abraxas.
Elijah is out of energy.
Silvia is unconscious.
Even Theseus himself couldn’t move due to Dragon Fear.
‘What do I do in this situation…’
He thought he was smart in his own way, but sadly, he couldn’t find a solution to this situation with his brain.
The opponent is a dragon, despite being weakened. An existence at the apex of beings.
He might be able to handle him 30 years later, but currently, he couldn’t.
Therefore, there was only one path for Theseus.
‘Abraxas knew everything. The existence of the dragon. The story of the dragon. So this must also have been his intention.’
He pretended not to trust, but Theseus believed in Abraxas. He planned and carried out things like an adult from a young age.
If an ordinary child promises to double your money, he won’t think about escaping with the investment money from dozens of people.
Abraxas, who was full of unusual aspects, walked only on the wrong path.
So Theseus decided to think that this was also Abraxas’s intention.
‘In the end, to accomplish Abraxas’s plan, I have to help a little. The only thing I can trust is his plan.’
Deciding to trust Abraxas who had shown remarkable miracles so far,
He decided to stake his life.
“I, Theseus Winterfield of the Winterfield Duke… request a battle against the ancient dragon!!”
His body didn’t listen due to Dragon Fear.
He knew well that he couldn’t stand against it.
But he believed nonetheless.
[“You know you’re going to lose. You’ve indeed got a good ally.”
The dragon praised his courage.
But a fight is a fight.
The dragon thrust his fist against his own body.
Thud—
A clean sound rang out.
The sound of a human body hitting something enormous.
Theseus, who had been struck by a fist, was slammed pitifully into the wall.
And this sight was now visible even to Elias’s somewhat conscious eyes.
“Master…!”
Elijah Adonis, who was still conscious, saw the man who was challenging the dragon, risking his life for his friends.
How in the world could he pull that off?
From noble mtl dot com
‘I have no other way… Sylvia is just now barely regaining consciousness, Abraxas Yeong-sik’s life is hanging in the balance, Trajan can’t even use his enhancement, and I’m in terrible shape.’
Everything is coming to an end.
The situation that can be considered a failed strategy.
He wasn’t even able to land a single effective hit on the dragon.
And his own party is now on the brink of annihilation.
Theseus, slammed against the wall, was trembling and managing to stand up, using his sword as a support instead of his staff.
Sylvia Lenin was lying down, unable to even stand up and watching the situation.
Elijah Adonis had also reached his physical limit.
Yet, they did not give up.
Because the situation overlapped with the sight he had shown them.
‘After sacrificing one of his arms, Abraxas won against the master.’
‘Yeong-sik must have had something else up his sleeve. He was smiling in the end, clearly knew something.’
‘Although those two may have picked a fight because they were crazy, there was also a reason he went around the academy picking fights. Abraxas definitely was purposefully picking fights.’
There was no certainty. That’s what everyone thought.
However, in the end, the party’s leader who was able to plan a strategy to get this far was Abraxas. It was completely right to trust him.
Filled with mutual will and determination, they stood up to enter the final battle.
Their bodies were trembling, far from strength, but they would trust in him.
As they prepared to start a battle, hanging their last hope on him.
“You’ve kept some truly excellent comrades. Now answer me. Or do you intend to keep watching your comrades suffer?”
The dragon was talking to someone.
“I had no plans on doing so. I was just waiting for the mood to settle down a bit.”
“““!!!”””
As everyone was understanding the situation, a doll came up between the knuckle bones of the dragon’s forepaw.
Abraxas Mentuhotep. The man who planned all this was standing there.
“Now then, let’s start the conversation. The conversation that will benefit all of us.”
—-
“Ancient dragon. Hornetail. The strongest dragon, the oldest dragon. But forgotten in everyone’s memory as it is too old.
You were able to live long because you were the strongest, but because you lived too long, you became the weakest sacred dragon.”]
The moment when the dragon and the other party members’ gazes were fixed on me.
I removed the preamble, which is essential before any serious conversation.
“You are merely putting on a brave face. You are more afraid than anyone. Not a trace remains of your past glory as the strongest dragon.
Your body weakens day by day. However, since even the dragons didn’t know that dragons age and die, no one dared to challenge you in your weakening state.”
Indeed, he was a dragon so powerful that no one dared to challenge him.
The dragons never challenged Horntail because they believed themselves to be immortal and that he was the strongest in existence.
Even if they did challenge, they thought they should do so after becoming stronger.
However, contrary to the other dragons’ beliefs, he was a being that grew weaker with age.
This fact has turned out to be his disadvantage.
He can’t die.
His pride would not allow him to choose suicide, an option for the weak, as he desires death while still falling significantly short of his past glory.
“You must have wished to die like other dragons. But even in such a situation, you couldn’t commit suicide because of your past glory and honor.
Like other dragons, you must have wished for a stronger being to kill you. Because that would be honorable. Because you want to be remembered as the powerful dragon, not an ugly one. That’s why you can’t kill me.”
Although he doesn’t want to live, taking his own life is even more unacceptable.
Therefore, he cannot kill us.
“I did not mention to anyone that the source of the Lunar Magic is a dragon.”
Due to him wanting us to learn about him.
As a result of murmuring that fact, I could stand here unharmed.
The dragon doesn’t know how I found out about the dragon’s information, so he acknowledged me.
This is due to me finding the information that was even forgotten by his own kind.
Although he could have personally spread the information, he didn’t. After all, promoting oneself is something a coward would do.
“Aren’t you afraid? How much time would it take? Will you really age to death? Your body is aging, but your dragon heart is still intact. Could it be that your body is merely weakening and that you will live forever?
Even if you die, how long will the inevitable death take? 100,000 years? 1,000,000 years? Or perhaps you have many more days to live? Will you continue to live this ugly life? Are you trembling in fear with those thoughts?”
Even the dragons don’t know that they can age, but at least I know that.
However, knowing that he ages, he still doesn’t know how long he can live.
How much more enduring does he need? Or is he really immortal? Immortal in the sense that his body continuously weakens.
The more he thinks about such facts, he gradually becomes drained.
That’s why this realm seems to have halted like a photo. Because he no longer wanted to age. Because he didn’t want to die.
Even if he could die, he wanted to die at the hands of a being that surpassed his prime self.
Even if that means stopping time.
Although he wasn’t able to stop time properly, he just restrained the movements.
“So, I will grant your wish. Haven’t I told you? That it will be a decent proposal. Old dragon, Horntail. I will take your Dragon Heart.”
We will fulfill his wish for death.
However, there was still something the old dragon could not accept.
[Do you mean… you just want me to die at your hands?]
To die at the hands of the unworthy, that’s no different from the suicide he has been postponing.
He may have stopped due to his inability, but the anger still resides within him.
Therefore, what I needed to say was already decided.
“The reason you didn’t want to die is because you hoped to be remembered by future generations, or for some other reason, you hoped there would be someone who surpasses you. Then watch. See if we are qualified enough.”
[Watch…?]
“The dragon’s eye pierces through everything. The abilities of the opponent, thoughts, all things concealed, even the future.
So take a look. The people here are more than qualified to use the dragon’s eye.”
We have proven our worth.
There are individuals with outstanding talent in this place.
The dragon’s eye can even predict the target’s future. It simply shows the possibilities of the future, which is more than enough.
Even if it’s long overdue, it is perfectly tolerable to die to those who have the quality to surpass self.
[You’re right.]
The dragon was convinced of the statement.
Like the saying that the dragon’s eye sees everything, it seemed to have grasped the authenticity of what I had done before.
Anger usually subsides when you know the truth.
And so the dragon’s eye shone, and the old war dragon watched the future.
Our future will depend on what the dragon sees.
—-
A huge battlefield unfolds in the dragon’s eyes.
No sound can be heard because dragon’s eyes can only see.
The valley where the sunset is falling. In that place where only trees burned by fire remain, as if there was a mountain fire, large-scale life forms are rising up and heading one direction.
[Wyverns.]
Many wyverns were flying to this land from the sky.
Presumably, the mountain was also set on fire by these wyverns.
And in the opposite direction of the attack of these wyverns, several figures were visible.
An assembly of various races gathered, including Elves, Dragonians, Beasts, Humans.
And someone in that assembly piqued the interest of the dragon’s eye.
The person who stood out to the dragon’s eye drew out the sword hanging on his back and aimed at the wyverns.
And not long after, he swung his sword at a speed not detectable even to the dragon’s eye.
Kwaaah—
There was no sound, but it felt as if the dragon heard something. Such a spectacular scene unfolded on this land.
An earthquake happened from the trajectory of the sword in the sky.
Although it’s impossible for an earthquake to happen in the sky, there was no other way to describe it.
The process skipped. It unquestionably proceeded, but it was so fast that it was as if it didn’t exist.
The Wyverns were literally butchered by the earthquake that occurred in the sky.
The dragon gave a satisfied smile knowing the identity of the person who delivered such a blow.
[Oh, I see. I was not the one who could do it.]
The dragon acknowledged him. Although he may still be weak, that being could someday surpass anyone else.
[The possible apex of this world. How vain.]
But because of that, the dragon was able to accept a more comfortable death than anyone else.
It was defeated before the strongest. No one could have said anything.
[I don’t know if you came after becoming the strongest, but you’re still a weak hatchling. So, retain dignity.]
Given the form he had seen, he won’t complain about this much.
[I will leave my last moments to you, Abraxas son.]
And with that, the dragon closed his eyes, leaving behind a radiant light.
After the dragon had bored its gaze into us for a moment’s time.
The radiance that once lit the dragon’s eyes had faded, and it looked at us.
Then, the dragon began to obscure the space around me with fog unexpectedly fast.
Since I was the only person who had been directly facing the dragon, I was the only one trapped in the fog.
[This space is a kind of barrier. Therefore, the conversation we have here will not leak outside.]
After creating the enclosed space with a barrier, the dragon seemed to have a conversation just with me.
And seeing that, I had to smile.
It meant that my strategies had worked, as his rage had finally waned.
‘I’m not sure who it is, but there was someone whom the dragon could tolerate after all.’
This was something that I, too, couldn’t have foreseen, hence it was like a gamble. Of course, failure didn’t mean death.
Then I would just have to bring people from my family after the contract and take the share.
Because the dragon would allow them to die, if needed.
‘To use the Dragon’s Eye on us, there was a need for some motivation. Because even using the Dragon’s Eye was a burden to the old dragon.’
Therefore, I deliberately provoked him.
I laid a trap where he couldn’t kill me. And that strategy was successful, bringing me here.
The dragon began to say what he wanted to say, in a situation where only we were left.
[What I want to say is… I am not a coward hiding in fear.]
Even if I had decided to accept death, there is dignity.
There are people who wish to die honorably, so it’s not strange at all.
So I told him the truth.
I wasn’t trying to slander him to make him angry.
“I understand, it’s because your father was not the one who would challenge, but the acceptor of challenges. So, you were only challenged by other dragons and in the end, you were forgotten.”
[How do you know my father’s story…!]
It was a scene remembering the dragon’s death in WFS.
A memory that only the dragon and I would know.
And it also meant that I was not an ordinary human being to him.
[Did you know everything…]
“Yes, I did. What I wanted to say is this. If you wished to leave a legacy and die, you should have told it. Even though you were the strongest once, you are the weakest now.
In the end, you’re just a coward running away in the eyes of others. If you were hoping to leave your mark in history. If you really wanted to become an honorable dragon, you should have cared about what others think.”
[I was wrong.]
“Dragons can also mistake death for aging.”
[It seems that you don’t even consider that you yourself might be wrong.]
“If I am wrong then I can correct it later.”
I was the only sympathizer left on this land.
All the creatures related to him have already left this land and moved on to the afterlife.
And since I was not present seventeen years ago, the people who remember him have been absent from this land for a very long time.
[Great human, I have no idea how you found out the truth. When using those points, you’re sure to soar well beyond the dragon. When your journey ends, I ask you to write about me. This is my last wish.]
“I can grant that small request to the most powerful dragon.”
And so, I decided to grant the last wish of the once most powerful dragon.
At this point, it was hard to even say it was a request.
Happy with such conduct of mine, the dragon attempted to mimic a human’s smile as best as it could.
The dragon’s barrier was lifted.
With an earth-shattering roar, a thick mist spread out everywhere with the removal of the barrier, returning naturally to its place.
The ancient dragon and I, we just stood there.
Luckily seeing that I was unharmed, my comrades who had come this far rushed over to me.
“Abraxas! Are you alright!!”
“Are you okay? You weren’t harmed or mentally attacked…”
“So far, you seem to be the most unaffected among us…”
Fortunately, the affection I had built up didn’t seem to be that much of a problem, and they all showed their concern for me.
And the ancient dragon was simply watching our conversation continue.
I carried on the conversation.
“Then would it be acceptable if I were to kill you? Please, don’t let it be known who accepted death.”
[To not let it be known who was acknowledged? Why?]
“The future seen through the dragon’s eyes is not fixed, just uncertain. An uncertain future can change just by knowing it. If you don’t know the future, there won’t be any variables changing it.”
Only gods can see the future. The dragon’s eyes are merely guessing the future.
It’s just an overwhelming insight, giving it power similar to predicting the future.
“So as, the leader of this party, allow me to kill you. Being a leader who has a capable subordinates is a quality of a good leader.”
The dragon heard my words and laughed, showing a satisfied smile.
[I hope my death was worth something, just like those who died by my hand.]
“I will make sure your story spreads far and wide.”
The dragon extended its neck and looked down on us. It was a signal that it was opening up, showing its vital point for us to aim for.
I also took out a technique I hadn’t used against the professor, in order to honor the once-greatest dragon.
Aura awakening, absolute pre-attack.
Awakening Aura is power that twists the world through Aura. Since it distorts the world, Aura awakening doesn’t follow any physical laws.
This technique is crafted from my ideals.
Even if it necessitates the sacrifice of one arm. Even if I have to give up my honor. Covered in filth. Even if it costs my humanity, I will achieve what I want. It’s matured awakening.
Using one arm as the base. Activating an absolute speedy attack with a recoil that cannot be avoided. The resultant attack reaches any target physical or conceptual.
Although my body is weak and couldn’t withstand such a powerful attack, and as a result my one arm becomes ashes.
It’s okay, since the priest of the Holy Land can heal me.
The real sword in my right hand swung, cutting through the air. There was a beginning and an end. There was no in-between.
Only the result remains at the end, skipping the process.
Even though I moved, it was not visible to my eyes or perceivable.
The sword energy flew without a visible target and at the end it hit the dragon’s body.
My arm was not suitable to sustain such enormous power,
It just turned into pitch-black ash.
The dragon’s neck bleeds, touching my knife.
As the dragon fell, it left behind the longest-lasting message spread on this land.
From noble mtl dot com
[Congratulations. The New Dragon Slayer.]
He set off on a long journey to meet his acquaintances who had left this land long ago.
Thus, the average age of the sentient beings of this land significantly decreased.
Even if no one knows this fact other than us, of course.
