I Became A Renowned Genius At My Arts High School - Chapter 156
Only Noblemtl
Episode 156. Festival (2)
“In a famous painting?”
“There are famous paintings that even people who aren’t really interested in art know. Or, there are paintings with special behind-the-scenes stories. We use the food in those paintings to create menus. For example, we plan French fries from Van Gogh’s The Potato Eaters, fruit snacks from Cézanne’s still life, and a dinner set from Da Vinci’s The Last Supper, and serve things like Andy Warhol’s soup or Chardin’s brioche. We write down famous paintings and menu descriptions on the menu. For customers who still don’t know, we just give them a brief explanation.”
“Oh. That’s okay. That’ll be okay!”
Seo Ji-hoon jumped up and shouted.
For centuries, food has been a regular subject in paintings, so much so that some scholars have created a separate genre called food painting.
At one time, while studying art history, Su-hyeon also became interested in food in art works. It was very interesting to interpret the food culture and history of the era in still lifes that were painted without much thought, as well as what they symbolized and the artist’s intentions for using them.
Anyway, through that experience, Su-hyeon learned that there were a lot of food menus that could be extracted from paintings.
And I could guess that the sensory menu using famous paintings would appeal to young people.
‘Now, there are stores everywhere selling similar menus, but restaurants and bars will gradually change. They will develop interiors, service methods, and menus that emphasize each individuality and bring out the concept. If we bring that forward a little, there’s no way it won’t work.’
and.
“Wow, that’s a great change of perspective. Well, there are a lot of pictures of food, so if you make a menu with those, it’ll stand out.”
“Hearing this, I feel like ordering it too. Can you make alcohol as well as food? It’s a bar, so alcohol is important too.”
“Why? Bring me some of Van Gogh’s absinthe? Oh no. It’s hard to get, and it has a very high alcohol content. It’s going to be a disaster, a disaster. You might have to watch drunkards keep making rice cakes in front of the painting department’s tavern.”
“Wine would be okay, right? If you say Monet wine, wouldn’t it sell well?”
“Wow, Monet wine. Just hearing the name makes me think it’s really expensive. Monet was good at what he ate.”
“Yeah. Anyway, it feels good. It feels so good. Something good will come out of it.”
Art students who are sensitive to trends quickly understood Soo-hyun’s words and accepted them actively.
They quickly added ideas based on their respective knowledge and experiences, and then continued to pour out detailed opinions about the store’s interior and operating methods.
“How about differentiating the service as well?”
Soo-hyun, who had been listening silently, expressed his opinion once more.
It was good that the meeting was lively, but the kids were so excited that the conversation was going on for too long. We needed to provide key ideas for efficiency.
“Serving? How?”
Seo Ji-hoon asked back with sparkling eyes. It seemed like he was ready to listen to anything Soo-hyun had to say.
“The servers dress up like the characters in the paintings. Or they can even cosplay as painters.”
“Painter cosplay?”
“If you put a bandage on your ear, it’s Van Gogh. If you put a mustache on, it’s Salvador Dali. If you wear a bonnet, it’s Picasso. If you wear a wig and horn-rimmed glasses, it’s Andy Warhol. It’s easy to recognize, and it’s fun, right?”
“Wow! That sounds great. It’ll be so much fun.”
“Oh. We have some props that we prepared for our painting-imagining class. Can we use those?”
“Okay! I like that!”
When the second idea was presented, the practice room was filled with excitement.
Seo Ji-hoon wrote useful ideas on the blackboard with his mouth up to his ears, and through further discussion, he distinguished between opinions to be rejected and those to be kept.
After talking like that for about 30 minutes, we had a rough idea of the outline of the painting department’s ‘Famous Painting Tavern’.
‘I think this is enough.’
Soo-hyun nodded as she watched the contents being organized.
He considered his role to be complete because it drastically reduced the time wasted on digging and helped the work progress smoothly by establishing a clear concept.
So I quickly packed my bag.
“Are you going?”
Student body president Seo Ji-hoon looked at Soo-hyun with wide eyes.
“Surely the original provider isn’t thinking of leaving already?”
“yes?”
“What are you surprised about? Haha. When you’re so surprised, it seems real. Right? Soo-hyun, you’ll be more proactive this time, right? There’s no exhibition this year.”
Seo Ji-hoon looked at Soo-hyun with bright and earnest eyes, and Soo-hyun had no choice but to let go of the bag strap she was holding with an awkward smile.
An hour later like that.
“This is driving me crazy.”
Su-hyeon, who had just barely escaped the practice room, let out a deep sigh without realizing it.
“I think I stepped on my own foot… … .”
After thoroughly checking the kitchen, serving, and other areas that needed help, Seo Ji-hoon and the executive students excitedly placed the right people in the right places.
Soo-hyeon couldn’t avoid it either.
No, Soo-hyun ended up being assigned to the position that received the most spotlight.
“Serving?”
Su-hyeon shook her head.
I felt like going back a few hours and gagging myself for coming up with the cosplay idea.
I tried to help with simple tasks like grocery shopping, but everyone shook their heads, saying that they couldn’t use Soo-hyun, the face of the conversation department, like that.
Since I had no cooking skills, I couldn’t insist on going to the kitchen, so I ended up crying and taking on the job of server.
“ha.”
Su-hyeon sighed.
Although they praised her by saying that she was the face of the painting department and a star, her classmates and seniors seemed to secretly enjoy seeing Soo-hyun feel burdened and embarrassed by her makeup.
So I would recommend things like the Mona Lisa and Frida Kahlo.
“No, the more I think about it, the more annoying it becomes. Wouldn’t it be nice if the kids who like to step forward took charge? There are kids who actually enjoy it, so why me, an introvert, have to do it? And on top of that, these guys, they were in a mood to completely push me aside when they thought it was the right time.”
The kids giggled and asked Soo-hyun to choose her fate: Mona Lisa, who had to shave her eyebrows, or Frida Kahlo, who had to straighten her eyebrows.
Of course, Soo-Hyeon wasn’t the type to be taken in so easily.
“The expressions were worth seeing.”
Su-hyeon burst out laughing.
Soo-hyun, who was offered two characters, showed the virtue of yielding to Seo Ji-hoon and Lee Kyung-min, who were giggling, saying that if the characters were that good, she would like to give them to her seniors. In the end, Seo Ji-hoon ended up playing Frida Kahlo wearing traditional Mexican clothing, and Lee Kyung-min ended up playing the Mona Lisa with bare eyebrows and an ambiguous smile.
“ha.”
Of course, even so, Soo-hyeon’s suffering was not alleviated. Soo-hyeon had to go her own way to Soo-hyeon-dae.
“Bandages will be sold at the pharmacy.”
Su-hyeon shook her head and headed toward the pharmacy across the school gate.
The one Soo-hyeon chose was Vincent van Gogh, who painted a self-portrait with a bandage wrapped around his ear.

“Poohaha!”
“Hahaha!”
“Oh, this is so funny. I think my stomach is going to burst.”
“I’m going crazy, seriously.”
A few days later.
Baekhyun Jae opened the curtain with great fanfare.
During the day, there were regular games like water balloon popping and human mole that you can see at any university, but from around 5 o’clock, the bars started to show their true colors and opened for business.
Among them, the one that caught everyone’s attention was definitely the famous painting tavern of the painting department.
“Is that person the Mona Lisa? Hahaha! This is driving me crazy. Isn’t that the president of the painting department last year?”
“Hey, there are so many funnier people out there. I saw Frida Kahlo earlier. She has straight eyebrows, but her expression is strangely similar. I almost cried laughing.”
“Hey! Who is that person? I know him, but wait, why can’t I remember him?”
“Isn’t that the person in Monet’s painting? A woman holding a parasol! The image is perfect.”
“That’s right! The parasol and the pose are perfect, perfect. It’s Monet’s wife, Camille!”
“But what about those ballerinas?”
“That’s right. This is driving me crazy. They’re boys. Why on earth are they wearing tutu… … No way, Degas’s ballet class?”
“No! That can’t be! My eyes! My eyes!”
The children of the painting department, who initially resisted, gradually accepted their fate as they prepared for the festival, and at one point they devoted themselves wholeheartedly to makeup, definitely raising the quality of the famous painting tavern.
People passing by were captivated by the makeup of the servers at the famous tavern and had a good laugh before entering the tavern one by one as if possessed.
“It’s a success. It’s a success!”
Seo Ji-hoon, disguised as Frida Kahlo, wiggled his eyebrows and smiled with satisfaction.
“It’s only been an hour and a half since we opened. We’ll have to wait and see.”
As Gogh Soo-hyun, who was wrapped in bandages, answered conservatively, Seo Ji-hoon made an excited gesture, fluttering her long skirt.
“No. There’s no need to report this. The line is getting longer and longer. The menu is also very popular! Wow, this is a hit. I thought it would be really hard to do business since our department was assigned to a corner seat this year, but this is a hit. Awesome! If this continues, we’ll be number one!”
Seo Ji-hoon shivered with confidence in his success.
“But how did our junior Su-hyeon, no, writer Su-hyeon, come up with such an idea? Wow, he’s really good at studying, drawing, and even playing, so I have nothing to say, nothing to say.”
“It just occurred to me, and it fit together perfectly. Plus, everyone worked really hard. But I didn’t expect them to wear tutu. What the hell happened to those guys?”
When Soo-hyun looked at the male students dressed up as ballerinas from Degas’s painting with a sad look in her eyes, Seo Ji-hoon burst into laughter with a face that looked like it was going to die of laughter.
“Oh, that? It’s actually a penalty.”
“Punishment?”
“The working students and a few people of note made some big and small mistakes this semester. The working students didn’t know that the assignments they submitted were sorted by grade and mixed them up, so the professor had to re-evaluate them. Minho and his friends got caught doing night work without asking for it, so there was a big fuss. These guys even drank alcohol in the sacred practice room without any fear!”
“ah.”
“I should punish you, but I don’t have anything good to do, so I told you to punish me physically. I told you to wear a ballet outfit for the festival.”
“Oh. You accepted that?”
“The workers accepted it as an apology to the professors and teaching assistants who worked hard, and Minho’s gang broke the rules, so the practice room door was closed for three days. That was also a part that affected everyone in the conversation department, so they had no choice but to pay it back without complaint. And even people like you and me who did nothing wrong work are working so hard, so I think that’s something that they can definitely do.”
“yes…….”
Su-hyeon nodded and scratched her ear.
It was late spring, and summer was approaching. The sunlight was quite warm. But after wrapping myself in a bandage and wearing a fur hat, I felt itchy because of the sweat.
“Wow. I just got goosebumps.”
And Seo Ji-hoon, who was watching Soo-hyeon like that, looked at her with a look of genuine admiration.
“why?”
“You scratch your ears, so you really look like you don’t have ears. Wow. You put your hair up and hide it under your hat, so you really look like Van Gogh. Soo-hyun, you’re such a bad guy, but your outfit is great and you act like one too. Wow, you really do your best in everything you do. I learn from you. I always learn from you.”
“… … .”
Su-hyeon, who was about to say something in response to the absurd reaction, just gave up and shook his head.
“A customer has arrived. Please go and take their order quickly.”
There was no time to waste.
Even after Seo Ji-hoon cheered, customers kept flocking in, and the painting department bar was soon full.
As the water level rose, the staff who were about to row the boat quickly laid out a few more tables to accommodate additional guests.
“Welcome to the famous painting tavern!”
Seo Ji-hoon opened his arms to welcome a new guest, and Soo-hyun, who was watching him, smiled without realizing it.
But the next moment, the smile disappeared from Soo-hyun’s face.
“what.”
Su-hyeon turned her head in surprise.
“… …Why are they here?”
An earthquake occurred in Soo-Hyeon’s pupils.
New customers wandering around, looking for empty seats.
All of these faces were familiar to Soo-hyun.
