67. Attack on the Academy
An unknown silence fell on the battlefield that Gilbert entered. This was because everyone was nervous because of an unidentified person who cut through the dense barrage fire and cut down the barrage with a single sword.
Gulp.
All members of the New Resistance broke into a cold sweat and swallowed dry saliva at the sudden appearance of a powerful person. None of the comrades here were capable of performing the feats we had just witnessed.
At best, the meticulously planned barrage fire using as many as 23 giant soldiers could be cut down with a single iron sword. It was a top-level skill that could not even be imitated by anyone other than a high-level knight.
According to their investigation, there were not many people in the current Demeia Academy who could do such a ridiculous thing. The only people left were the head of the academy, Lucas, and a few faculty members who were high-ranking knights, as well as Brianna, who tried to suffocate her with barrage fire, and her first princess, Seraphina.
As a result of communicating with the other group carrying out the sabotage operation, the remaining members except Brianna were dealt with by another group. Although the exact situation was not communicated due to the intense battle, the giant god soldier in front of them was definitely someone who was not in their prior information.
That wasn’t the only problem.
[That…. It must be a giant soldier belonging to Team 1…?]
[Woah, something ridiculous happened.]
[Communication with Team 1 has been lost!]
New Resistance members fell into a state of panic. This was because the Titan soldier the intruder was riding was not the academy’s general-purpose Titan soldier, but a friendly Titan soldier like themselves. Common sense dictates that someone else would not be able to use the Giant God Soldier with whom a formal contract was signed, so there was a traitor among the first group members.
Where on earth?
After the former Resistance was subjugated by the Empire, their leader did not give up. Their chairman, who rose again to guarantee the human rights of commoners with an indomitable will, took the failure of the old Resistance as a stepping stone and established a new resistance.
The New Resistance, keenly aware of the previous failure, absorbed the remaining members of the Old Resistance and worked hard to reinforce its members. In addition to understanding basic skills, we also devised methods to track down potential traitors.
The members of the New Resistance are impressed by the Chairman’s intention to prepare all of this, and it becomes an opportunity for them to follow the Chairman even more.
But the problem is that among the members who had put so much effort into accepting it, a traitor has appeared. When a proposition they have firmly believed in collapses, people become suspicious.
The members who participated in the attack on the academy also fell into the shadow of suspicion. It was impossible to determine whether the comrade next to him was a traitor hiding his identity.
[Come to your senses! Are you doubting your comrades now?!]
Atreos, who was in charge of overall command of this attack on the Academy, shouted as he looked at the members in a state of agitation. As long as there was a traitor in front of him who looked like a high-level knight, he couldn’t do anything unnecessary like fighting among his comrades.
Fortunately, the shouts of Atreos, who had always been well-liked, made the members stop doubting the comrades next to them. The reason they came to Demeia Academy was because they all had a noble purpose. Even if there was a traitor, the intention could not be stopped.
Meanwhile, Gilbert, who had unleashed the Five Swords of the Winter Sword, had to feel a sudden sense of dizziness. A reaction that drew upon misconceptions that were not yet permitted had come. Fortunately, the enemies didn’t attack me, so I was able to gain time to come to my senses.
I’ll have to be careful next time.
After gathering his thoughts, he looked back slightly. In his field of vision, he saw Brianna coming out of the hatch of the stopped giant soldier. Although she did push herself a bit, it was worth it.
“Gilbert.”
It was a small voice, but I could clearly hear it thanks to the amplification magic.
Gilbert breathed a sigh of relief that Brianna was safe. In the end, it was the moment when I realized once again that this world is not a game.
“I think you overdid it.”
“Thanks to you, I survived. Let me express my gratitude.”
“I was just doing the obvious. First, I would like to ask you to evacuate the cadets.”
“I understand. But don’t overdo it. I’ll make sure you can return to the fight right away.”
Gilbert burst out laughing at Brianna’s usual appearance.
After watching Brianna disappear leading the cadets who had not yet escaped, he pulled her control stick with a lighter heart. Perhaps because his mind became more relaxed, he felt like the backlash from overstepping his limit had disappeared.
[Gilbert. I will begin combat assistance.]
“Is that even possible? There is an artificial spirit with whom I have signed a formal contract. There is a penalty to my characteristic skills that can only be activated in that situation.”
[No problem. Access to the currently installed artificial spirit was obtained.]
Does that happen?
I was skeptical because I had never seen it in the game, but this was the first time I got CT-777.
Initially, CT-777 was decided to be discarded after the development of the next generation artificial spirit was completed, and a researcher stole it and sold it on the black market. After that, it falls into the hands of the Resistance and later appears as an enemy in the main story.
Furthermore, this was my first time taking someone else’s aircraft and riding it, so it was also my first time seeing someone interfere with another artificial spirit in this way.
But there was no way CT-777 would say something impossible, so I decided to think positively. No matter how much you had to use an artificial spirit with a formal contract in order to manifest your coolness, it was painful not to receive combat support from CT-777, the next-generation artificial spirit created based on the data of Colossus’ artificial spirit.
In the meantime, I was told that I could receive support, so there was no reason to complain.
“CT. Additional mission settings.”
[Preparation for mission setting.]
“Complete annihilation of the Academy raiders.”
[Mission setting completed.]
“Okay then. The battle begins.”
[CT-777. Enters combat assistance.]
Gilbert led the Colossus soldiers towards the academy attackers with CT-777’s combat assistance.

Brianna, who helped the cadets evacuate safely, sprinted toward the hangar as soon as their safety was secured. This was because he was worried about Gilbert, who was dealing with the 23 Titan Soldiers instead of him.
Of course, Brianna, who knew Gilbert’s skills better than anyone else, knew that he would not be easily defeated.
Gilbert was already almost physically perfect before becoming her student, and he also had a natural talent for swordsmanship. Although she possessed a talent that surprised even Brianna, she was not conceited and steadily trained Gilbert, so no matter how many times she had the numerical advantage, it was difficult for her to subdue him in a short period of time.
Furthermore, if I am not mistaken, what cut down the dense barrage fire was the Winter Sword’s splitting of the winter sky. What was demonstrated just once to show the next step was immediately used in practice.
But rather, that is the problem.
Brianna climbed onto the giant soldier and raised her eyes sharply. She was certainly able to save her life thanks to the magic that Gilbert used, but it could also have been strangling Gilbert’s breathing. The Mystery of the Winter Sword was not yet an area permitted to him, and it was like a wall that a criminal could not overcome no matter what he did.
However, in the case of people like Gilbert who were full of talent, there were times when they stepped into areas that were beyond their scope. A typical example was when faced with a desperate crisis or similar situation.
And the problem was right there. Exceeding the limit in a situation where one was not sufficiently prepared was consistent with the meaning of putting a lot of load on the body. Moreover, for Gilbert, who has to deal with as many as 23 giant god soldiers, his subordinates are fatal.
After closing the hatch of her colossus and completing the magic pass, Brianna hurried out of her hangar.
Isn’t the reason he crossed the limit all to save himself?
If something happened to Gilbert because of that, Brianna could never forgive herself.
Brianna hurriedly left the hangar and explored the shortest route to Gilbert, then deployed her magic booster to its maximum and ran like flying. Her assailants encountered her on her way, but none could stop her in her full strength.
After she cut down about four or five giant monsters with one sword, she was finally able to reach where Gilbert was.
From noble mtl dot com
[You are a little late. Master.]
[Gilbert…]
But as if her worries were unfounded, Gilbert’s communication magic came in. It was only after she saw Gilbert speaking in a calm tone that Brianna felt relieved.
It seems that her second immediate disciple was more of a monster than she thought.
When Brianna arrived, the only giant soldier standing there was Gilbert’s giant warrior Hangi. Before she left, all 23 Giant God Soldiers she had seen were half destroyed and lying on her floor.
[Has everything been processed?]
[Yes.]
[I see. I’m glad you’re safe. However…]
After her mind calmed down, Brianna realized that Gilbert’s colossus was the same as her attackers. The crazy guys infiltrating Demeia Academy couldn’t have come without signing a formal contract with an artificial spirit, so I couldn’t understand why they were riding their giant god soldiers.
Although she thought it was fortunate that she seemed to have no problem even though she had exceeded her limits, she could not hide her curiosity.
However, her curiosity was buried in her heart. Now was not the time to answer such trivial questions.
[Gilbert. Are there any problems with continuing the battle?]
[Nothing.]
[I understand. Then, let’s deal with the attacker first.]
After completing the communication, Brianna drove the giant soldier towards the attackers who were detected at close range. And Gilbert followed closely behind.
In this way, the two priests joined other professors at the academy as they defeated the New Resistance that attacked the academy one by one. With the addition of two people who could already take on dozens of giant gods alone, the subjugation of the attackers continued smoothly.
Soon after, Seraphina and Yannick, riding on the Giant God Soldier, joined in and the situation quickly turned.
In the end, the last remaining attacker fell to Serafina’s single sword.
Gilbert was finally able to let go of his tense tension after hearing CT-777 say that there was zero signal from the remaining attackers. Although he had no idea how many casualties there would be from this raid, it was no exaggeration to say that he did the best he could.
It was clear that the number of surviving cadets and subjects would be greater than in the original.
And above all.
“Good job, Gilbert.”
“Thank you for your hard work, Master.”
As Gilbert opened the hatch and came out, he heard Brianna’s voice praising her hard work. She looked like her usual Brianna, frowning slightly as if she was sorting out a situation with her professors.
It was only then that Gilbert realized that he had prevented the future in which Professor Brianna died.
As originally intended, Professor Brianna survived and was able to minimize the damage from this attack as much as possible. She was at the peak of her empire, and when she entered the war in perfect condition, she was able to quickly subdue her raiders.
In the meantime, we were able to evacuate the cadets and those who came to see the festival, and as a result, we were able to prevent the attack on the academy, which would have resulted in numerous casualties, with minimal damage.
All of this was possible because Brianna survived.
Gilbert secretly clenched his fists with a growing sense of accomplishment and achievement.
This world was definitely not the world in the game.
I liked it so much.
