I Became the Guild Leader in Exile - I Became the Guild Leader in Exile chapter 85
85 – 2# The Giant Snake That Devours the World (5)
Thor.
The god of thunder and lightning.
Perhaps, if we only consider physical strength, he’s one of the top three gods in Norse mythology. And he inherited Thor’s name, so it was natural that he was strong.
The evidence was that he wasn’t backing down at all in his head-on battle with Isaac. His powers, his strength – everything was nearly perfect.
And I couldn’t help but admire that Thor was the same. Isaac’s power was beyond imagination. Now, I have to acknowledge it. If I’m not careful, I might lose.
“It’s been a while. I’m being pushed this far, and it’s all because of myself!”
Usually, when someone who matches one’s strength appears, they would be flustered. But Tor instead became even more fired up. His fists, wrapped in lightning, struck Isaac’s head.
“This is like mixing Asterios and Tiphoret!”
Of course, both are strong, but Asterios excels in physical abilities, and Tiphoret in authority. Yet, Tor seems to have combined both.
Without giving Isaac any time to think, Tor continued to push him back. A lightning bolt from the sky sent Isaac crashing to the ground. Tor laughed maniacally and shouted.
“You’re the first to survive my one-hit kill, excluding the calamities!”
“Does that include the calamity of Yormungand?”
“That’s right! You’re a monster that will bring about the end!”
“You’re really useless.”
But Isaac wasn’t one to just take it lying down. He counterattacked, punching Tor in the face, and blood splattered in mid-air.
No techniques were involved, just pure, overwhelming power. A clash of strength with no room for retreat. Both sides were fighting without an inch of hesitation.
Isaac’s body, stronger than steel, began to crack. The wounds he had received from fighting Asterios and Tiphoret were likely to be even more severe.
“This is going to kill me, damn it!!”
Isaac screamed inwardly, but didn’t back down. Tor still hadn’t unleashed his full power. If he did, Isaac would have to counter with his own full power to neutralize the attack and rescue Yormungand. But Tor was thinking the same thing.
“I don’t know what, but this guy is hiding his true power from me.”
This was a different problem from being a battle maniac or simply being foolish. Tor’s cunning mind was still working. And the result was clear: whoever unleashed their full power first would win.
Victory and defeat were separated by a difference as small as 0 and 1, a difference between nothing and being. And Tor would never think of losing. Lightning flashed again.
“Let’s take it to the end!!”
But Tor had no chance to unleash his full power. Even when the three great calamities appeared, it was only slightly entertaining, but they didn’t last long and disappeared.
In comparison, Isaac Silverte was at least establishing a fight. No, it was more than that. He was a guy who could make the outcome uncertain until the very end!
But fortunately, Tor’s wish didn’t come true. Just as they were in the midst of battle, Tor suddenly stopped moving. Isaac also stopped in response.
“Ah, interference has arrived.”
“Are you talking about Odin?”
“I know. That old codger…”
The timing of the interference was perfect. Naturally, no good words would come out of Tor’s mouth. It was like having a good drink, only to be interrupted and left with a lingering sense of dissatisfaction.
But even Tor couldn’t ignore the command of Odin, the ruler of the law and the highest god. After all, it was Odin who had given Tor his power.
“However, we can fight again soon. If your goal is to break the seal.”
“Is the fight that enjoyable?”
“That’s right. Being able to enjoy a fight is a privilege of the strong. Isn’t that so?”
Cowards who fear fighting are those who have already imagined their own death and pain in their minds and are scared of their own shadows. Fighting such cowards is no fun.
On the other hand, fighting real warriors who enjoy fighting is too enjoyable to bear. Like Isaac right in front of him. But Isaac clicked his tongue.
“That’s your opinion.”
“Ha! Don’t be shy and enjoy it. We’ll have to make a bet on our lives later.”
Tor left those words behind and slowly turned his head to disappear. It was both a display of confidence and trust. If his opponent was as strong as himself, they would naturally have pride.
“Maybe I should strike him from behind now.”
The fact that his opponent’s pride was slightly shaken was just a side note.
* * *
Tor roared.
There was no one who could stop the overwhelming Thor.
Of course, it was a bit exaggerated, but Thor’s power was stronger than imagined. After all, if there was Hercules in Greek and Roman mythology, there was Thor in Norse mythology.
If we only consider them as symbols of power, I’d dare say that the two are the best. Isaac let out a sigh. If they were to clash with the Empire later, it wouldn’t be easy.
But there was no doubt about winning. Instead, they could advance even more confidently. Thor and the Empire’s White Knights had retreated, and Isaac returned to the beach.
“Welcome back, Master.”
“Yes, Zig. You’ve worked hard.”
Zig, who had been waiting, bowed his head to greet Isaac’s return. Isaac coughed dryly, averting his gaze from Zig, who looked more like a woman than a man.
‘Get a grip!!!’
Isaac scolded himself inwardly. What was he thinking? How foolish. Isaac Silverte, you’re being foolish towards Zig, who’s like a child.
“It seems like something happened while you were fighting Thor.”
Zig looked at Isaac’s serious expression and swallowed hard. Of course, it was a fight against the Empire’s strongest White Knight. There must have been many stories in between.
“Master, I believe in you no matter what happens.”
‘Don’t say something like that to me!!’
Isaac cried out inwardly. He had foolish thoughts towards this kind child. And to think that he was Zig’s guardian. What a ridiculous joke.
“Jörmungandr! Come out for a bit! Let’s talk!”
Isaac deliberately shouted louder to hide his embarrassing feelings. Thanks to that, his voice reached Jörmungandr, who was hiding in the depths of the sea.
Just by moving its body, the sea floor, which was invisible, began to tremble. And then, a massive serpent-like creature emerged from the sea, looking like a king who ruled the ocean.
In an instant, Zig took a step back. This overwhelming pressure was similar to the three great disasters he had encountered in his childhood. It was no wonder the Empire was making a big fuss.
“This monster should have been defeated long ago.”
The monster was an unknown existence, and simply being there posed a threat to humans. That’s why humans had been defeating many monsters and demons until now.
[Who are you?]
But that thought changed to shock when he heard Jörmungandr’s voice. The voice that came from the massive serpent was too youthful, like a boy’s.
“Isaac Silverte.”
However, the master seemed to already know, responding calmly to Jörmungandr. Jörmungandr then brought its massive head closer to Isaac, sniffing him.
From noble mtl dot nete
“It’s more like a dragon than a snake.”
It was a massive serpent from mythology, after all. It was natural that it was different from ordinary snakes. Isaac nodded, and Jörmungandr began to tremble its body, shouting.
[It’s definitely not wrong. It’s my sister’s scent.]
“How do you remember that?”
[When I was born, my sister was the one who held me. I still remember the scent from back then.]
“That’s right.”
[Do you know where my sister is?]
“I know.”
Isaac replied to Jörmungandr while holding out his hand. Jörmungandr, who didn’t understand the gesture at all, looked at Isaac with a smile.
“Let’s go together.”
I’ll take you to your family.
That meaning reached Jörmungandr’s heart. What kind of feeling was this? His chest was fluttering, but it wasn’t unpleasant. Instead, he wanted to keep feeling this warmth.
At that moment,
Jörmungandr’s massive body began to be enveloped in light. The process looked like a snake shedding its skin. And then, the massive light began to compress into a smaller form.
Isaac carefully embraced the compressed light. Before he knew it, the light had transformed into a child around 7 years old. Isaac let out a sigh, looking away.
“Let’s go home now.”
How lonely this young thing must have been.
