92. Super Sentai Hero and Now Showing
“Reincarnation Squadron! Death Ranger!!”
With a powerful battle cry, the five Super Sentai heroes jumped off a cliff and landed one after another in the wilderness.
“The crimson flames are the light of the soul! Death Red!”
“Death Ranger, ready for action!!”
At the signal from the leader, Death Red, they struck a pose, and at the same time, there was a loud explosion behind them. I don’t know much about it, but I guess it’s what Super Sentai heroes are supposed to do .
But I wonder what these guys do when they have to fight in the middle of a city. If there’s an explosion, won’t it burn down the convenience store that just happened to be behind them?
In the first place, why do they go through the trouble of fighting together as a group of five? It must be really difficult to coordinate, and there must be situations where some of them can’t play an active role depending on their abilities. Besides, these heroes are like us, with five members, so if they call everyone together every time, they won’t have any days off.
If I hadn’t been a hero, I wonder if I would have ever noticed these kinds of things. I remember the Doctor saying that people in the field often find inconsistencies in manga about their own professions, so maybe this is just another example of fiction.
“Hmm. It’s kind of strange that we, real heroes, are watching a fictional hero movie.”
Since the announcement before the movie started said to be quiet during the screening, I tried to keep my voice down as I spoke to Tokiwa Uguisu, who was sitting next to me.
“….Unforgivable, such, such a date-like thing, I haven’t even done something like that yet!”
“You’re not listening to me.”
Thanks to my brother and his girlfriend’s unusually loud conversation, we were able to watch the same movie, but it made Tokiwa Uguisu very upset. I didn’t want her to start acting up in the theater, so I managed to calm her down and get her to come with me this far…but now I’m starting to think it would have been better not to let her in.
“A movie date is like, such, number seven on my list of things I want to do with Sora-kun, it’s a classic first date. We watch a romantic movie together, and then we go to a stylish cafe and talk about it . Well, I’m glad it was a movie I’m not interested in, but even so, how could he go on a movie date with his mistress before me…!”
“Hey, if you keep talking, you’re going to bother the other customers.”
I said that, but there were no other customers around us.
My brother and Momoko Sekichoku were sitting a little further back in the center, where there was a good view and a lot of people. We were four rows behind them, a little to the side. This is my first time in a movie theater, so I don’t know much about it, but there were a lot of empty seats, and there were hardly any other customers near us, where we were sitting almost in the last row.
I wonder if this movie is unpopular. It’s summer vacation and daytime, but there are no children at all, and the story seems kind of difficult.
“Well, what is it! That guy looks like such a playboy, there’s no way he could be a hero.”
When did the spearhead of her anger turn to the content of the movie? Maybe it’s more interesting than I thought. By the way, it seems like the heroes in the movie don’t fight with the power of love, so even a playboy should be able to be a hero. Rather, these guys would probably think it’s strange that we’re heroes, since Suoh Akane is the only one of us with good athleticism and muscle strength.
“And he’s even the same Blue as Sora-kun, it’s impossible!”
The Reincarnation Squadron Death Ranger is a group of reincarnated heroes who have all experienced death at least once. The story is about how they use their sickle-like weapons to defeat evil spirits called Phantoms who are causing trouble in human society. It’s probably also on TV, since it says “Movie: Reincarnation Squadron Death Ranger” on the screen.
But they’ve been talking about “accumulating virtue” and “views on life and death” since the beginning, and I don’t understand what’s so interesting about it. And I don’t like the way they sometimes hint at a romantic relationship between Pink and Blue. I wish they would just ban romance.
“To be secretly dating behind everyone’s backs…ah, but I do that situation. I wish Sora-kun could go on missions with me too.”
Despite saying that she’s not interested in the movie, the real Green seems to like it quite a bit.
Maybe the only adults who can enjoy Death Ranger are the ones who are in this dimly lit space, and I’m the only one who doesn’t get it and is getting sleepy. My brother and Momoko Sekichoku said they wanted to see this movie , so there must be something about it that even real heroes find appealing.

Thinking that, I looked at the two of them sitting diagonally in front of me. They had placed a popcorn bucket between their seats, and whenever they happened to reach for it at the same time, they would look at each other and smile. first Glance, they seemed to be paying attention to the movie, but sometimes they would just stare at each other’s faces for a while. But I think that’s because they’re not bored with the movie, but because they value that time together more.
“aaah, isn’t that the part where they reach for the popcorn and their hands touch!?”
Tokiwa Uguisu, who had remembered her purpose for being here because of me, started to speak again, her voice trembling and getting louder.
“Uh, yeah.”
It’s like she’s talking about something that happens all the time, but I don’t understand why she’s so bothered by it. They were holding hands before we went into the movie theater, so they shouldn’t be making such a fuss about their hands touching. Besides, I hold hands with my brother sometimes.
“That thieving cat, she’s purposely taking Sora-kun’s popcorn to make herself feel excited. Ah, she’s so insidious. She’s a devil, her brain and her heart are both pitch black.”
“Your voice is too loud…”
She’s not listening to me at all. She’s supposed to be seven years older than me…
“Excuse me, why are you so calm, Koshiba? Your precious brother is about to fall prey to that cunning temptress! It’s natural to not be able to stand by and watch as someone you care about suffers.”
Whether she’s a cat burglar or a temptress, I don’t think either one has poisonous fangs.
“Suffer, huh?”
Thanks to the overexcited senior next to me, I was strangely calm. Do I hate the thought of my brother dating other women?
Of course I do. But it’s probably impossible for me to sit next to my brother in that place, share popcorn, or gaze into each other’s eyes. Because for my brother, I’m just a little sister, or even less than that, the kind of relationship that can be easily discarded once he finds another important woman.
I don’t want to meet her alone because it’ll make her anxious. What a cruel thing to say, I thought. Because above all, it was a clear ranking of me and Take Momoka, and the announcement of the results. I lost, and she won. Even I, who am inexperienced in love, can understand that much right away.
If I were a real blood-related sister who had been with him since childhood, I might not have been told such a thing, but I, who wasted my early childhood with a fake family, have no such authority. My brother and I are definitely siblings, and I’ve been searching for my brother all my life, but I’ll probably never reach him.
He’s my real brother, but for him, I’m just “like” a sister. And besides, now that I’ve fallen in love with my brother, I can’t stay by his side forever with the excuse of “because I ‘m his sister”. That would be cheating.
I wish I had been my brother’s real sister from the beginning, from the moment I was born. Then I could have stayed by his side even if he had a girlfriend or got married. Whether I’m a sister or just like a sister, if my feelings are not reciprocated, I’d rather be by his side forever. I want to be selfish if I can. But I can’t be his sister or his girlfriend.
If I’m no good, and the others are no good, then should my brother never date anyone? That would be pitiful for my brother. I can’t be that selfish.
If he’s really going to be unhappy, if the other person is a bad woman or doesn’t love my brother, then I want to stop him. Just like with Tokiwa Uguisu, I don’t care how dirty my own hands get. I want to eliminate the woman who will make my brother unhappy. On the other hand, if she is someone who can make my brother happy, then it is right for me to give up quietly. I knew the answer from the moment I saw my brother’s smile this morning.
That’s my love, and my justice.
“…Hey, let’s stop. Following them around in secret”
If my brother is happy, I should ignore my own worries.
“What are you saying all of a sudden? My Sora is being seduced by that kind of woman?”
My, huh? Come to think of it, she thinks she’s in love with my brother and that they’re a couple.
“This is definitely cheating. No, we’re engaged, so it’s practically an affair.”
She’s angry because she thinks she’s been betrayed by my brother.
“There must be a reason. There must be a reason. The theory that Take has something on him is the most likely, but other than that… aha, could it be a honey trap? What if Take is actually a spy for the evil Shadow, and Sora is using his irresistible charm to ensnare Take and get her to spill the beans on her spying activities? Is that not a possibility?
She’s being weird, getting carried away by that Death Ranger movie. Shadow isn’t some evil secret society. It’s just a phenomenon, a mass of fear. Or something like a disaster. Maybe people who haven’t been caught in its lair won ‘t understand.
“Or how about this? Take wants to quit being Fleurinpink. The heroes are short-staffed and it must be difficult to find replacements. Dr. Gentian’s plan is to have Sora make Take fall in love with him so that she won’t be able to leave Fleurinpink and will have to continue her hero work. It’s what you might call a love affair.”
I don’t know what irokoiei-gyo (?) means, but she doesn’t realize that something similar is being done to her.
“Either way, there’s no doubt that Sora is on this date against his will. There’s no doubt about it. Because, because there’s no way he would get another girlfriend besides me… There’s no other woman who can tie Sora down besides me …”
Oh, how can this person be so confident that she is loved? Somehow, it makes me feel a little uncomfortable.
“If you’re that worried, why don’t you just ask him directly?”
It’s not just about being loved. She thinks she can restrain my brother without his permission.
“Aren’t you his wife? If my brother’s feelings are genuine, he’ll tell you, won’t he?”
Maybe I’m irritated because she’s so free, I said it with a nasty expression.
