I Made a Game Featuring Constellations - Chapter 28
Aftermath
[Akashic Archive] Main Story Act 2
While the specially crafted story for the Demon God was progressing, a separately created story in the general version was providing players with a slightly different experience.
Act 2, Chapter 1
“Finally, it’s the last trial. If you pass this trial, you can become the official curator of [Akashic Archive].”
“This story will be a little different from the previous ones.”
“The protagonist of this story, this Demon King, caused a significant event that determined the fate of various races in this world. Because of that event, this world can exist in the [Archive]. Unfortunately, the intervention of the abyss shattered her will.”
“Your task is to stay by her side and help her.”
“Remember, we are the curators of [Akashic Archive]. Our mission is to preserve the events happening across the universe as they are. Even if we don’t like the conclusion, we must not change it arbitrarily.”
The final trial to become a curator.
– Finally, the last trial! Once this is over, I can become a curator too?
– Why do we have to preserve the story as it is? Can’t we change it?
– Come to think of it, those who chose to kill the saint at the end of Act 1 seemed to have scored 10 points in the previous trial. It must be a rule of the Archive.
– I don’t like how they set the correct answer as not changing the story.
The players listened to the contents of the trial from the curator and entered the story of the Demon King Perlerina.
Act 2, Chapter 2
[The demon you must help is still young. The village where the young demon king lived was attacked by demon hunters. In this world, only she can see your soul. Lead the young demon to survive.]
“I love you, Lina.”
“Mom! Mooom!”
“Hehehe. We’ve caught a real high-quality one here.”
“Make some noise, you b*tch! It’s no fun otherwise!”
-ㅠㅠ I love Lina-chan!
-I think I read in history books that demons and humans didn’t get along very well, but was it this bad?
-I’m glad it’s not like this now.
-So boring, how long are we just going to watch?
Players encountered the conflict between humans and demons through the story.
Act 2, Scene 3
“All the villagers are dead. All my friends have been killed. My only family, my mom, is no longer in this world. There’s no one I can rely on. Spirit, how am I supposed to live?”
“Spirit! The water here is so clean!”
“Spirit! Isn’t this one so cute?”
“Spirit. If I become the demon king… can I change this cruel world?”
An adventure with the protagonist you must protect and guide.
-Nuooong!
-Is this the demon king from history, the one who massacred people? She’s so pure!
-I can’t stand it. Lina’s body is growing. Her soft body is getting plump. Her pure white body is growing hair.
Players felt a strong inner intimacy with her as they followed the mission path in the game.
-Why can’t I go in any direction I want? I want to make her something other than the Demon King.
-This game has no freedom. It’s a bad game.
Even though it was necessary for the buildup, there were those who expressed dissatisfaction with the predetermined storyline.
Act 2, Scene 4
“Come to me! O ancient king of the underworld!”
“Spirit! I did it! I became the Demon King!”
-With your help, the girl succeeded in becoming the Demon King. Now comes the moment of the final decision. Help her make the crucial choice in her final moment.
The girl who became the Demon King gathered her scattered kin and became the guardian of her clan.
Though she became the Demon King, the king of ten thousand demons, even with that power, she could not stop the hatred between humans and demons.
In the end, the girl resorts to her original plan, the last resort.
-Stop joking around, seriously.
-Why must we follow the predetermined history? I refuse the massacre!
-Oh Demon King, how did you live like this? 😢
As the final moment approaches,
The players tremble in the rising tension.
Act 2, Scene 5
The curtain rises on the climax.
“I want to see it too. An era where all hatred has vanished.”
“I want to go too. To an era of peace and harmony.”
“Spirit! Can you not take this cup from me?”
The girl is in agony, unable to make up her mind.
Ding
[Final Choice]
– The Demon King is about to realize the reign of the Underworld. Her resolve is wavering, and history is about to collapse. If she does not choose to act, the story will be broken. Choose. Will you help her safely complete the story? Or will you save her and betray the [Archive], causing the world to collapse?
Soon, the players were presented with a choice that would determine the core of the story.
– No, seriously, don’t mess with me!
– I can’t make her choose sacrifice. Knowing the painful life she has endured, how can I make her choose sacrifice until the end?
– Then what about the chain of hatred?
– Are you planning to betray the Archive?
– Screw the Archive!
– Do I care if the story breaks or other NPCs die? As long as my precious little Rina-chan is safe, that’s all that matters.
The players were divided into two groups.
Those who couldn’t bear to see the girl die and those who wanted to prevent the massacre chose to betray the Archive, regardless of the test results.
Those who wanted to establish peace and keep the story intact, regardless of whether the girl died or the massacre occurred, chose to make the girl sacrifice herself.
Since it was the final test of the [Archive], the players thought that the story would change based on this choice.
“What are you doing right now?”
“Are you planning to distort the story?”
“That’s unfortunate. I thought you were a good talent. 9 points.”
“Perfect execution.”
“Restoring the story as it was in history. You have the ability befitting the head of the Archive.”
“With this, the final test is complete. 10 points.”
The reaction of the director changes depending on the choice.
The players naturally thought that the ending would be different.
Act 2, Final Chapter
“I will announce the results of the [Archive] director selection test conducted over three rounds.”
The second act, which ended ambiguously, continued with an additional story.
A subsequent story called the Interlude.
“By summing up the scores from the first to the third test…”
The director intended to announce the players’ acceptance as directors based on the story from Act 0 to Act 2.
Crash!
“Ugh!”
Until a sudden presence pierced his chest.
“Th-the Abyss…! How did it directly invade the [Archive]…!”
A black figure appeared and interrupted the final test result announcement.
Through the director, who collapsed bleeding, the players could tell that this enemy was an assassin from the Abyss.
Just as the assassin from the Abyss was about to attack the players next,
“Do you think I’ll let you do that!”
The director threw himself to block the attack.
The director, bleeding in the player’s arms, breathed his last.
“…I’m sorry. It seems I have to entrust the fate of the [Archive] to you.”
The director takes a small cube from his pocket and hands it to the player.
Wooong
The cube resonates with the player.
The cube unfolds and engulfs the player and the Abyssal Assassin.
The player moves from the non-combat zone, where he couldn’t fully exert his power, to the hidden space, and the boss battle begins.
-Directorrrr!
-Qua…Quan Hyung!
-Finally, the time has come to use the characters I’ve raised!
-It’s time for the heroes!
Without time to mourn the director’s death, they face the Abyssal Assassin.
The players use the abilities of the characters they’ve raised and the monsters they’ve obtained to fight against the Abyssal Assassin.
The filthy water splashes simultaneously on players from all over the continent.
The creature, with its unheard-of, bizarre name, Abyssal Assassin, was being stripped of all its power and patterns by everyone on the continent.
“Phew, did I manage to handle it well enough?”
I don’t know what that thing is, but if we keep beating it as the weekly boss with the help of the continent’s people, we’ll figure it out.
It was a good idea to prepare the interlude before Act 3 in advance, just in case the demon made a choice.
Thanks to that, we could naturally add the sudden weekly boss.
“The thrill in the story seems a bit lacking, but… it can’t be helped.”
There’s a bit of regret that if that monster hadn’t barged in, we could have finished with a more beautiful story.
Because of this one thing, the buildup we worked so hard on was disrupted.
Since it wasn’t a boss directly related to the third limited character, [Demon King Perlerina], it was even more so.
Well, I’ll let my future self handle this part.
I picked up a brilliantly shining orb.
“We need to bring this to our Demon God quickly.”
An orb that contains the data of a single dream world.
