41 – 7. Recapture the City
Time passes quickly, and before you know it, it is the day of the battle.
I was able to receive what I had requested from the bishop early in the morning.
“Originally, it is common for each person to take one, but I am leaving it to you since you are said to have the necessary skills and responsibility.”
“Yes, thank you.”
“Your Excellency the Bishop has high expectations. “May God look upon this battle.”
I put what I received from the bishop’s representative on my belt and headed to where the other knights were waiting.
Of course, it’s not really just five knights who go and pin themselves to the castle wall. We also had soldiers and servants to assist us.
“Well, you.”
“Why is that so?”
“Is that thing hanging from your waist… “Is what I thought correct?”
I didn’t have a squire, but even more than that, I had a trustworthy friend.
I said as I took off one of the sacred pine cones hanging like a Christmas tree.
“Would you like to use one?”
“No, I have one too, so it’s okay.”
If there is a wizard, it doesn’t matter because the caster can aim directly at the target. However, if it is made from an enchanted relic like this, identification of enemies is impossible.
So, since it was impossible to identify each other anyway, this pine cone was created to increase its power.
However, the explosive power of the sacred pine cone did not extend to the armor.
When dealing with the same knight, it was difficult to see much effect unless the shot was fired through the hole around the eye of the helmet.
However, for a ragtag group of unarmed soldiers, there is no weapon that boasts such unrivaled power.
It is actually the best option in a one-on-many battle situation. This is also the reason why wizards are still not eliminated from the battlefield.
Of course, it’s not something you can carry around while infiltrating. The pine cone is an item I took with me to use later when I open the door and get caught.
That’s why we asked you to hold out until our troops completely occupy the inside of the door… The bishop must have guessed that.
Actually, that is none of my business.
I wanted to explode a lot.
This is a little bit of romance that can be felt in this barbaric medieval fantasy world.
I was a bit concerned about asking Lycia to make such hideous items, so I asked the bishop instead.
“Have a safe trip.”
“Okay. “I also have the necklace you gave me.”
“Don’t believe that too much.”
Licia even came out to meet me as I was leaving. She felt heavy gaze from the widowers around her.
After telling the girl to relax, I climbed on Sancho’s back. Since he had put down all the luggage he normally carried, his steps were brisk.
“Then would you like to leave?”
“Okay, we have to take a long detour.”
The knights all rushed to the other side of the castle. The squires and soldiers also rode horses and made a wide circle around the castle.
And before she was obscured by the trees, the girl was looking at me leaving for the battlefield.

She hid in the bushes and looked at the top of the castle wall.
The thieves on the castle wall only looked around occasionally, but there was nothing special about them.
It wasn’t long before I realized that the siege had begun.
Because the distant shouting and metal clashing sounds could not be hidden.
After waiting for a while after the full-scale conflict began, I soon saw the guys standing guard on the castle wall rushing to another place one by one.
Things were still going as planned.
After spending a little more time there and feeling that the walls had become reasonably free, the elderly knight gave a signal.
Since he is a knight under the direct command of the count, the main figure in the war, and has the most experience, he implicitly assumes a leader-like role.
Of course, all knights had oversized egos, so during a melee, they almost never listened to orders other than starting or ending the operation.
Still, in this type of operation, which was directly linked to his life, he acted wisely.
“May God have pity on their souls.”
A priest made a small prayer with a signal and sent out a light created on the palm of his hand. It wasn’t fast, but its power was clear.
The two thieves, who saw a bright light coming from somewhere and were leaning against the wall to look outside to see what was causing it, were struck with curiosity. Their bodies, unable to even scream, fell helplessly to the ground.
This is why you must always carry a helmet with you on the battlefield.
Of course, if a wizard had been accompanying them, he would have noticed the omen and could have responded, but Villach’s rebellion took place against the principles of the church. So there was no way he could ask for the wizard’s cooperation.
But thanks to this, we can now try plans that would be impossible in a normal siege.
“This is all I can help you with. “I will pray that the peace that God desires can come to Philach.”
“Then, let’s leave.”
The priest blessed our weapons and then stepped back. The only thing that could be reached with the magic range was up to the top of the castle wall.
If you take him with you, it may be useful for sniping, but a priest without even armor would be perfect for being killed by a blind blade in a melee in a narrow space, so it was a good thing if he didn’t become a burden.
I checked the necklace one last time.
It did not shine now that the protection magic was not used. However, I believed in its effectiveness, so I put it inside my armor and put on a helmet.
The soldiers quickly climbed onto the castle wall carrying the ladders they had brought with them.
And while I was holding on to the ladder to prevent it from falling, the knights, including myself, climbed up first, as agreed in advance.
This was so that if a fight broke out from above, at least it would give others time to come up.

I stuck my head above the castle wall and slowly looked around. The only thing rolling around was a spear that looked like it had been dropped by a bandit who had been patrolling just moments before.
As expected, there were only two people as seen from below, but there was no one else.
“There is no one.”
“Okay, keep going up.”
However, the fact of infiltration could not be kept secret forever. As far as the door opening device was concerned, it was inevitable that we would be caught. I had to make the most of this time.
After making sure it was safe, we carefully climbed down onto the wall so as not to make any noise when our armor collided.
Several soldiers and servants came up one after another, and the soldiers remaining below removed the ladder for fear of the infiltration being discovered later.
This meant that there was no longer a way out. In order to get out, the operation had to be successful.
Of course, if knights or squires were captured alive, there were cases where they were released in exchange for a ransom from their lord.
If you were from a noble family, your parents were also subject to negotiation. In short, articles could be said to be a form of loot.
In that sense, the soldiers who followed us here really gave up half their lives.
If they wanted to bring back those who showed great courage, the knights had to work hard. Their lives were also riding on the shoulders of the knights.
“The first goal has been achieved. So, we need to move before we get noticed.”
The elderly knight whispered softly as he took out his weapon in preparation for an unexpected situation.
“The device is on the ground. “First, we have to find the stairs to go down.”
“Then, which direction should we go?”
There were several doors facing the castle wall. Which of these should I choose?
It was time for everyone to turn around and ask the soldier who knew the structure of the castle well.
-Kkiik.
“Yes, that’s true. We will soon secure a place in Villach… “What, who is there?”
“What are you talking about? I didn’t just change shift-.”
“Huh?”
The thieves came rushing out from one of the doors, chatting.
The guy who was muttering that they were the ones who stayed behind because it wasn’t time for their shift also stiffened when he realized that there were not two of them.
A heavy silence fell on both sides for a moment.
There was no way the accident would go smoothly even after seeing heavily armed war machines sitting in a circle on the other side of the door.
The thieves must have guessed that the Count would have mobilized knights, but they probably didn’t expect him to climb up the wall, so all he had in his hands was a club and a crude spear.
Judging by the state of their armament, they are at most low-level soldiers with little combat experience.
Since the weapons were poor, at most he would have learned only the mental education that he could defeat the knight alone and the great pitchfork technique.
There is no way the drivers came up to say hello.
Also, even if you ask for help here, will you be alive when that help comes?
People in this medieval fantasy world try to borrow the power of supernatural beings in this irrational situation.
One of the thieves, realizing his fate, muttered.
“Oh my God.”
Coming from the modern world, I also prayed to a supernatural being.
“Save.”
Isn’t it unreasonable to be caught from the beginning?
Where is my save data?
