72 – Ash The Viscount 3
I suggested teasing other students while wandering around with the students from the special class, but no one accepted the offer.
“I guess we have no choice but to tease other students while wandering around with Lucas.”
“I was just planning to walk around normally, you know.”
As Lucas and I left the classroom, we headed straight for the place where the first-year classroom was located, leaving the underground behind.
“No one’s here.”
“That’s true.”
Perhaps because it was class time, there was no one in the hallway.
“It’s going to be boring like this.”
I gazed at a classroom where I could hear the sound of a lesson.
“Lucas.”
“What?”
“We can’t go into the classroom where students are having a lesson and tease them, right?”
“You know if it’s possible or not, don’t you?”
“I approach challenges before considering whether I’m up for them or not.”
“What if Professor Elysia conducts the class as usual?”
“To observe the class, should we head outdoors? Come on, let’s go outside quickly!”
Realizing that we couldn’t observe the students in the classroom, Nah and Lucas went outside.
“Well, we’re out, but now what?”
The issue is where to go.
There were many classes being held outside, and consequently, each location for classes was different.
“How about going there?”
“If you say ‘there’?”
“I mean the forest where Professor Idra conducted the last class.”
“Oh! That sounds good.”
We don’t know if classes are currently being held there, but it’s better than just standing around.
Nah and Lucas headed towards the forest where Professor Idra had conducted the exam last time.
Fortunately, Professor Idra was there.
“Student Loki, student Lucas, isn’t it class time now?”
“Well, about that…”
I explained to Professor Idra that I came here to watch other students taking classes until Professor Elysia said we could rest freely until lunchtime.
Professor Idra said, “You came at a good time; we’re still doing the same exam that Loki won last time.”
“May we sit nearby and watch?”
“Of course. I was feeling a bit bored myself.”
Professor Hydra looked at Naha and Lucas, who were sitting nearby, and spoke.
“I envy how freely you roam around. Back in the day, I used to skip classes and wander around…”
Although we had permission to wander, Professor Hydra probably roamed without permission back then.
“Avoiding Professor Gedra and wandering around was so much fun.”
Naha and Lucas sat down, continuing to listen to Professor Hydra’s stories from his student days.
“Professor Hydra, would you like a candy?”
I took out a candy from the extradimensional space and offered it to Professor Hydra.
“Oh! How did you know I like candy!”
Professor Hydra immediately put the candy I handed him into his mouth.
“Lucas, have one too.”
“Thanks.”
As the three of us enjoyed the candy.
One student emerged from the forest.
“Hwang, Prince Hwang?”
Other students followed, all coming out of the woods, showing surprise at the sight of Lucas.
“Why is Prince Hwang here?”
Originally, I had planned to eat candy while watching other students suffer, but since the exam was already over while Professor Hydra was recounting his student days, it was no longer possible.
“Lucas, let’s move. It seems there’s no one worth teasing here.”

Having roamed around with Lucas like that,
Lucas stopped abruptly, as if he had found something.
“Did you find something?”
“It’s nothing. I’m sorry, but I’ll be back after a short while. Let’s meet at lunchtime.”
Leaving those words behind, Lucas hurriedly went somewhere.
Left alone in an instant, I pondered.
‘I might as well go back to the dorm.’
Originally, it was challenging to enter a class that was already in session, either for students attending the class or those wanting to observe.
Finding a class being conducted outdoors was also difficult.
While contemplating what to do, walking through the academy campus,
“What are you doing here?”
Someone grabbed me and spoke.
An elderly examiner. It was Professor Gedra.
“I was wandering around because our professor said we’re free until lunchtime.”
“That’s not a lie, right?”
“If you ask the professor, there’s no reason for me to lie and get caught, is there?”
“Well, that’s true. If you have nothing to do, how about a brief tour?”
I never expected Professor Gedra to suggest it first.
“I’m fine with that.”
“Follow me.”
* * *
Thump, thump.
Loki followed Gedra.
Their steps halted upon reaching the outdoor training ground.
Clang! Boom! Clang!
The sound of students’ cries and swords clashing filled the training ground.
The students there were not first-years, but second-years.
Engrossed in their sparring, they didn’t notice Loki and Gedra entering.
They paired off, each wielding a weapon for their practice duels.
Among them, Loki spotted a familiar face.
Platinum blonde hair tied up for ease of movement swayed as the woman expertly wielded her sword.
Even if one were to bring an inexperienced child, they would still recognize the woman’s swordsmanship as far superior to the other students.
The woman was Johanna.
She was sparring with her close friend, Jenna.
“Hey, who are you?”
A student who had finished sparring with Gedra noticed Loki.
It wasn’t surprising to see Gedra, but they were astonished to see Loki beside her.
Once one student recognized Loki, their partner looked at him, and then the student next to them noticed Loki too.
“Isn’t he a first-year? Why is he here?”
“Maybe Professor Gedra brought him.”
The students clamored, their voices echoing loudly as they looked at Loki.
The training ground, where only the sounds of clashing swords had resounded, instantly became chaotic.
Clang! Boom! Clang clang!
However, Joanna, focused with a sword in hand, remained oblivious to their voices.
To her, only the sword and her opponent, Jenna, were visible.
As a seasoned swordsman, she never lost concentration due to the surrounding noise.
If it were Joanna before her rivalry with Loki, it might have been a different story.
“What was his name again?”
“Don’t know? It’s Loki.”
“….!”
It was instinctive. Joanna couldn’t control her awareness or impulses.
Upon hearing Loki’s name, Joanna lowered her sword instinctively, scanning her surroundings.
For Joanna, it was a serious mistake she wouldn’t have made in the past, and above all, the timing was terrible.
Swoosh!
“Huh?!”
Jenna’s sword, swung from above, aimed for Joanna’s exposed head.
Startled, Jenna tried to change the sword’s trajectory upon seeing Joanna’s lowered guard, but Jenna’s strength proved insufficient.
“Ah.”
Yohanna realized her grave mistake and tightly shut her eyes.
Dodging or raising her sword to block was impossible.
Thud.
Yet, somehow, the sword didn’t land. Yohanna cautiously opened her eyes and understood why.
“Senior, even though I’m happy to see you, I shouldn’t lose focus during a spar. I could’ve been seriously hurt, couldn’t I?”
There stood Loki, holding Yenna’s sword with his hand.
“…… How?”
Loki had swiftly moved just in case when Yohanna flinched during the spar.
That’s why he could reach Yohanna faster than Gedra.
There was no time to grab Yohanna and evade, so blocking the sword with his hand was the only option.
But because he had blocked the descending sword with his bare hand at such speed, blood dripped from Loki’s hand.
Seeing blood flow from Loki’s hand, Yohanna felt like her mind was shattering.
Loki was hurt.
Because of me…
Blood stains Loki’s hand because of my mistake.
What if Loki’s severely injured?
What if Loki hates me?
If Loki tells me he dislikes me……….
No, Loki wouldn’t say such things to me.
But he got hurt because of me?
“I’ll take you to the infirmary…”
“I’ll go with you.”
Yohanna interrupted Gerda and spoke urgently.
After carefully holding Loki’s hand, they walked to the infirmary.
While heading to the infirmary, Yohanna didn’t say a word, but Loki could feel her trembling through the hand he was holding.
“Senior, I didn’t get hurt that badly…”
“Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. I messed up. I’m sorry. I won’t do it again. Please don’t hate me.”
Loki tried to reassure Yohanna, but she continued to mumble so softly that he could barely hear.
The nurse wrapped a bandage around Loki’s hand and explained the precautions.
Fortunately, Loki wasn’t seriously injured.
It would be gone after a good rest for a day.
Although the nurse in the infirmary assured that Loki was fine, Yohanna continued to murmur in a small voice.
“Senior, can we sit here for a while and rest?”
Loki pointed to a bench in the academy courtyard with his finger, and Yohanna nodded weakly.
“Senior, it’s okay not to apologize. It’s not a big injury.”
“But!”
“Senior, if something dangerous happens to me, will you help me?”
“Yeah. I will.”
Yohanna answered Loki’s question without any hesitation.
“I moved with the same thoughts as you, Senior. If you ever feel concerned, just help me once, like you did before.”
“I will definitely help. But why were you there in the first place?”
Loki explained everything to Johanna, from having a mission tomorrow to encountering Gedra. He even mentioned the unharmed hand wrapped in bandages.
“Don’t get hurt on the mission.”
“Is that how you say something like this?”
Loki playfully remarked, pointing to the hand wrapped in bandages with his uninjured hand.
“Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.”
Johanna lowered her head and spoke with a choked voice.
As if tears could fall at any moment, her eyelashes were tinged red.
“It’s a joke. Just a joke! I’ll come back without a scratch.”
