#83. A Man Who Can Do Anything
2024.03.15.
Before Yerin could push Lee Hyun away, the door opened wide.
Secretary Choi, who had entered the office, quickly slammed the door shut after seeing Yerin and Lee Hyun standing close together, unable to separate.
Yerin was extremely flustered, but she pretended not to be flustered at all and spoke in a calm voice.
“Director, I think this tie is enough.”
“Thank you, Secretary Han.”
Lee Hyun also took a step back as if nothing had happened and frowned at Secretary Choi.
“What’s going on today?”
Secretary Choi belatedly came to his senses and closed his mouth in surprise.
“I got a call asking if I could postpone the meeting that was supposed to be at 4 PM today. I had no choice but to come in in a hurry.”
Secretary Choi made excuses as if he really had no choice.
“I really didn’t know you two would be like this at the office… … .”
“Secretary Choi, I think you’re misunderstanding.”
Lee Hyun stared at Secretary Choi and continued.
“Secretary Han was just tying his tie.”
“Oh, yes. That must be it.”
It wasn’t all that surprising since he knew the two were dating, but it was confusing because it was Lee Hyun. Who would have thought
that a man who always put work first and Ji Seok Group first in his life would be playing around with dating at work?
Yerin, who was watching Secretary Choi and Lee Hyun’s conversation from the side, spoke carefully.
“Director, today’s meeting is canceled, so I’ll be leaving.”
“Let’s do that.”
Yerin greeted Lee Hyun and Secretary Choi and quickly left the office.
Lee Hyun frowned when he heard the door close and spoke sharply to Secretary Choi.
“If you look closely, Secretary Choi tends to come in without knocking when I’m with Secretary Han.”
At those words, Secretary Choi also had a lot to say.
He continued speaking as he approached Lee Hyun’s desk one step at a time.
“Director, when you entered the locker room of the daycare center, you didn’t knock, but you shouted loudly from far away. Today was the same.” Secretary
Choi added one more word, feeling more aggrieved the more he thought about it.
“Who would think that you would be hugging each other like this in the locker room and in the office?”
Lee Hyun let out a small laugh at those words.
“I’ve recently realized that it was really stupid of me to have given Secretary Choi relationship advice all this time.”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“Does Secretary Choi have any choice about when and where to date?”
Secretary Choi was speechless at that bold question.
“I’m saying that people’s hearts can’t be controlled like a switch.”
“That’s true, but… … .”
The surprising thing was that the person who said those words was Lee Hyun.
How could a cold-blooded man who didn’t seem to bleed even if he was pricked with a needle before meeting Yerin have changed so much?
“I guess Secretary Choi has never experienced that kind of love. If I were to give advice as a senior in relationships, I would say that it doesn’t depend on time and place.”
Secretary Choi stared at Lee Hyun with his eyes tightly shut.
“I’ve probably experienced that kind of passionate love more than you, Chief.”
“Really?”
“Of course. Isn’t this your first relationship?”
Lee Hyun answered the question without much thought.
“Of course. But Secretary Choi, haven’t you thought about this?”
“What do you think?”
“It’s not practical, Secretary Choi.”
Secretary Choi’s lips slowly parted at the blunt criticism.
“Practical, huh? Practical?”
“Who would give you a medal if you date a lot? I think it’s more important to have a proper result even if you only date once.”
He wanted to argue, but since that was right, Secretary Choi just exhaled deeply.
“Are you sure that Chief will bear fruit beyond dating?”
“Yes. Of course.”
Secretary Choi was speechless because he was so certain.
“I think I understand now why Chairman Cha kept nagging me to start a family.”
It was truly a day of continuous surprises.
It was even more surprising because I didn’t know that Lee Hyun thought so seriously about Yerin.
“I just hope that your relationship goes smoothly.”
“It will.”
And Lee Hyun kept repeating to himself that he would make it happen.
“A secretary will reschedule the meeting that was postponed today and let you know.”
“Okay. You can go out.”
Secretary Choi, who was about to turn around and leave the office, made an “Ah-” sound and stopped abruptly.
“Director, did you really tell me to sell the lower floor of the villa because of Secretary Han?”
“What, just in case.”
“Wow.”
Lee Hyun glanced at Secretary Choi’s face, who was shaking her head in surprise, and fixed her gaze on the documents.
“Secretary Han said that there was a murder in the villa she lived in and she had nowhere to go. She’s going to stay for the time being, so I understand that.”
“Yes, for the time being… … I understand.”
Secretary Choi greeted Lee Hyun, who was concentrating on the documents as if nothing had happened, and left the office. Although
she had been watching Lee Hyun for quite some time, she felt like the people she had known weren’t real.
‘People change like that when they’re in love.’
Lee Hyun’s world that he had built up seemed to have completely changed.
Secretary Choi, who was sitting down, met Yerin’s eyes.
Seeing Yerin smiling awkwardly, Secretary Choi nodded once.
‘I want to meet someone who I can love so much that I lose my mind.’
Strangely enough, there was someone who followed that thought.
Jiiing-
The message that arrived just in time was from the woman who had filled Secretary Choi’s head.
[Mr. Hyun-jun, shall we meet today?]
After checking the message, a smile similar to Lee Hyun’s appeared on Secretary Choi’s face.
Without hesitation, Secretary Choi’s fingers danced across the screen of her phone.
[Okay. I’ll go to Na-ri’s office. Should I reserve tickets for the movie you said you wanted to see before?]
Secretary Choi may not know it, but he had also changed a lot since meeting Na-ri.
He, who had never thought of leaving work on time, now got up from his seat at 6 o’clock and headed to Na-ri’s office.
The calm waves at first were gradually growing stronger.
***
Rrrr.
The phone at Ye-rin’s desk rang, and Ye-rin came to her senses at the sound.
“Yes, Chief.”
– Secretary Han, come inside for a moment.
“Understood.”
As Yerin packed her diary and went into her office, Lee Hyun slowly raised his head.
Yerin closed the door tightly and spoke to her from a distance.
“Do you have something for me to do?”
“Why are you standing there? Come over to the side.”
Yerin slowly shook her head.
“Chief, I can hear you well from here.”
Lee Hyun let out a snicker at those words.
“You must have been really surprised earlier. Are you okay?”
It was a question about Secretary Choi coming in while the two were hugging.
Yerin opened her mouth with a face full of things to say.
“Chief, even if we’re really dating, I think it’s better to be careful at work. Anyone can come in like Secretary Choi did earlier… … .” Before she knew it,
Lee Hyun had come up to her while Yerin was talking.
Thinking that Lee Hyun would pull her into his arms like before, Yerin took a step back.
Lee Hyun raised the corners of his lips as he closed the distance between them again, as if he liked that sight so much.
As the chase continued, Yerin finally managed to stop after banging her back against the wall.
“You were really tying your tie earlier, weren’t you?”
“The chief suddenly pulled my waist.”
“Oh, did you?”
Lee Hyun had a sly smile on his face as if he didn’t remember.
“You didn’t forget what I told you before, did you?”
“What? Oh, when you want to kiss, hold back ten times?”
“Yes.”
“I remember, of course.”
Although she had heard that holding back three times would prevent murder, it was the first time she had been told to hold back ten kisses.
“The person who said they remembered acted as if they didn’t know.”
“It seems like there’s one thing that even one secretary doesn’t know.”
Yerin widened her eyes as if wondering what it was, curious.
“Once this morning when one secretary smiled at me.”
“… … .”
“Twice while we were having lunch together.”
Lee Hyun went on to explain in detail about the times when he had the urge to kiss her, saying that he had held back from doing so many times just today.
“And earlier, when a secretary was tying my tie, I held back for the ninth time.”
“No, you thought about it that often?”
“Yes.”
There were reasons that were too plausible to be considered ridiculous.
“This morning, the sunlight pouring down on a secretary’s face was so beautiful. And that sunlight was particularly strong on that secretary’s lips.”
The reasons were very detailed.
“I endured it nine times. Now the tenth time.”
“Huh?”
“My patience is at its limit.”
Lee Hyun stretched out his long arms and clicked the office door shut.
Then he held Yerin’s face with both hands and kissed her.
His head knew he had to push him away, but his body did the opposite.
I also felt the urge to kiss Lee Hyun, and I had thought about it.
This morning, Lee Hyun, who was going to work, was more wonderful than ever.
When he smiled at me, I unconsciously wanted to be held in his wide arms.
Lee Hyun persistently stimulated the inside of his mouth as if he could not tolerate any gap between them.
I always feel this way, but today was the same.
This man was really a kisser who took my breath away.
Is there anything he can’t do?
Oh, there was one thing.
Believe it or not, he can’t tie a tie.
Other than that, he was perfect in everything, driving people crazy.
