MMORPG : Ancient WORLD - #109 - 109 Demons
“The Demons are specifically targeting only the intelligent Races of the Malefis Domain, to the point that before a child could even reach the age of ten, he will be infected with Devourer Curse.”
“If you want to know the truth about the Demon’s purposes, Malefis Domain’s dark past, and Devourer Curse’s true nature, then you must fulfill my given conditions,” Varon said calmly.
After hearing the information, Alex was shocked to his core as he knew about the terror of demons and the Devourer Curse, but never even in his wildest theories had he ever thought that the two deadliest disasters he knew about were connected.
‘I thought Varon didn’t plan to tell me anything related to Devourer Curse, so was this just a slip of the tongue, but a person of his strength will never make such a childish mistake.’ Alex thought as his head filled with questions he had no answer to.
“Domain Ruler, The information that Devourer Curse is a Bloodline ability of Demons is common knowledge to the inhabitants of the Malefis Domain, and even the ancient Races like the Elves and Dragons would have hidden records about the demons,” Varon said like he knew what Alex was thinking.
‘So Varon said it intentionally and didn’t just suddenly change his mind to enlighten me, on the whole, messed up truth.’ Alex thought, understanding what Varon was trying to say.
‘I don’t know if he will reveal any information about demons, but asking for it won’t hurt.’ Alex thought as he took out a tattered black diary from his inventory and handed it to Varon.
The diary belonged to Senior Lukius, and Alex acquired it from the Assassin’s cave, and the content of the diary revealed sensitive information about the Demonic cult and the names of a few of the cult members.
Alex was required to deliver the content of the diary to someone of authority in the Human empire to complete his quest, and even though he met with Prince Wenrys and had an easy chance to complete the quest, he didn’t do it.
Alex didn’t reveal any information to Prince Wenrys because after reading the big names written in the diary, he trusted no one, and unless he was sure of his safety, he didn’t even plan to think about informing the empire.
Varon didn’t say anything and took the diary, and after flipping the pages rapidly, his expression turned serious for a moment before becoming normal.
“Domain Ruler, you don’t need to worry about the demons because they can’t leave the demon continent, and the best they can do is run a cult to control the empire from the shadows, but the Empire is too strong for some measly cult member to take over with tricks,” Varon said as he closed the diary and returned it to Alex.
‘I know that Varon won’t lie about something, but maybe he doesn’t know demons could leave their continent.’ Alex thought, knowing a demon invasion would happen in less than two years.
“Varon, I have also found information that Demons will invade the human continents in some time,” Alex said to see how Varon would react to this information.
The information about the demon invasion came from his future knowledge, and Alex revealed it to Varon, knowing he won’t ask for evidence as he could easily see through lies, and because the information was accurate, Alex had no worries.
After hearing about the future demon invasion, Varon’s eyes changed for a split second, but Alex saw nothing.
‘The bastard Ahrimon should have already discovered that a new Ruler has been selected, and knowing his ambition, he would do everything in his power to find the identity of the Domain Ruler, so maybe this invasion is to discover the identity of the domain Ruler?’
‘It can’t be, as Domain Ruler found out about the demon invasion in one of his adventures, so Ahrimon purpose for invading the human continent must be something else.’ Varon thought after hearing Alex’s statement.
“Let me rephrase my sentence,” Varon said with a smile.
“The Demon could leave their continent by opening a continent portal after paying a huge price, but that portal is not sustainable for a long time, and demons could only open the portal once every few months.”
“Only Rank three demons with a limited number of Rank four demons could use that portal to travel before all its energy is consumed and it becomes unstable and collapses.”
“The portal could be used by even Rank five demons, but too much energy will be used, making the portal collapse in much father time, and I don’t believe the demons will be idiotic enough to send few useless Rank five demons to any continent after paying a huge price required to open the portal.”
“As for the demon invasion on the human continent, I am sure it will be used as a distraction to accomplish a bigger goal,” Varon replied, revealing a lot of valuable information.
‘The question is, what could Ahrimon wants that is important that he is willing to sacrifice the lives of Seven High Ranking Demons and a vast amount of rare resources to open a continent portal to create a distraction?.’ Varon thought.
Varon revealed a lot of valuable information, and after hearing it, Alex immediately started using it to make sense of the demon invasion from his previous life, and without facing any issues, he easily understood the big picture.
‘Now I understand why only Third and Fourth Rank demons came out of the portal, and I have a feeling that great feet of destroying the portal done by Captain Aldwulf Ernisius were also pre-planned.’ Alex thought as he connected the dots to solve the puzzle of the demon invasion.
“Varon, I want to know if there is a way to destroy the Demon entry portal and also the maximum number of demons that could use the portal before its energy runs dry and it collapses,” Alex asked.
Alex knew Varon wouldn’t reveal any sensitive information related to demons, but he shouldn’t have any problem with any other trivial information.
“The portal could be destroyed, but only by someone who understands the element of space to a very high degree as for the number of demons that will depend on the amount of resources used to open it.”
“If the demon invasion did happen, there should be at least a few million Rank three demons, with Rank four demons being less than ten thousand if only very few Rank five demons used it,” Varon replied.
‘I wonder if the purpose of the demon invasion was to push the demon slaves like Captain Aldwulf to a higher position or something much bigger? Or maybe both.’ Alex thought with a smile, happy with the new discovery.
Captain Aldwulf Ernisius was a Noble and army captain, and he received the most generous benefits from the demon invasion as he destroyed the demon portal that was well-guarded by three peak Rank five demons and a few hundred Rank four demons.
Captain Aldwulf was given many benefits after destroying the portal and stopping more demons from entering the human continent.
As his reward, Aldwulf was promoted to Major General in the Empire army, a Rank only lower in authority than the Supreme General and the King, and his Noble Rank was promoted to that of a Duke while he was also married to the Sixth Royal princes making him a Royal.
There were no complaints from the Royals or the Army about the benefits Aldwulf was given because everyone understood if he hadn’t risked his life to destroy the portal while it was still unstable, then the portal would have completely stabilized, and strong demons would have come to the human continent which would have been devastating.
Alex understood that the portal was not stabilizing but destabilizing, and even without Aldwulf’s effort, it would have automatically closed.
“Domain Ruler, We should get going,” Varon said as he started walking in a straight line, not waiting for Alex’s response.
‘I wonder what he wants to show me?’ Alex thought as he followed right behind Varon.
Alex stopped thinking about the demons and their plans for the human continent and silently followed Varon.
Varon didn’t change any direction and kept walking in a straight line at a moderate speed, and after walking through the sea of coffins for ten minutes, Alex saw a massive building in the distance.
‘This must be our destination, but why didn’t Varon just open a portal in front of it.’ Alex thought, looking at the big building in the distance that was circulated by at least a few million coffins.
“I didn’t open a portal in front of the building because I can’t do it as that building is a research center managed by Second guardian Elmara and she doesn’t like visiter, so she has created a big barrier around the research center to stop everyone from entering,” Varon replied like he read Alex thoughts.
“Varon, You are reading my thoughts?” Alex asked.
“NO”
“I explained about the barrier and the research center because they will help you better understand the personality of the guardian Elmara,” Varon replied.
