My Students Regret It After I Retired - Chapter 99
98 – Belin Learns the Truth
Belin couldn’t believe it. Everything they had done until now was to save their sister.
Betraying Leos, entering the Shadow Order and carrying out the dirty work they didn’t want to do, all of it was to cure their sister’s illness with an elixir that could only be obtained from the Emperor.
But the truth was that their sister’s body was taken over by a possessor. It was unbelievable.
‘I’ve talked to her, shared stories for over five years. That can’t be…’
Belin thought this, but there were some things that had felt strange. Back when their sister started getting sick. There were times when she acted like someone who had suddenly lost their memory.
‘I thought it was just because she was sick and temporarily confused… but if possessors exist and that person really stole my sister’s body…’
Building up various hypotheses started to make my head spin. Soon, that feeling began to morph into unease. The thought that the person I’d considered my sister all this time might just be a possessor, with the same body but a plundered mind.
The Celestial Master watched a bewildered Bellin and laughed for a good while.
“That’s quite a face you’re making. I’ve been hiding all my secrets just for this moment. How intriguing. I’m curious to see what you’ll do. Will you kill the possessor who stole your sister’s soul, or will you embrace her, since she’s been your sister for five years? Feel free to choose.”
With a gesture from the Celestial Master, Bellin fell in front of her younger sister, Lesain.
“S-sister…?”
Lesain, clueless, looked at Bellin with a bewildered expression.
“I missed you, Sister! I was dragged here by strangers, but they said if I waited, I’d get to see you, so I was good! I thought something terrible was going to happen, but I’m so glad you really came!”
Bellin, not saying a word, stared blankly at Lesain, who was looking at her so brightly.
Lesain smiles.
Lesain looks at her, a relieved expression on her face.
Approaching slowly, without any wariness.
Usually, Bellin would have hugged Lesain right away, but not now. Before a hug, what had to come first was confirming the truth.
“Lesain.”
“Yes! Sister!”
After calling Lesain’s name, Bellin opened her mouth with difficulty.
“You… did you maybe come from another world?”
“Huh…?”
Bellin’s direct question made Lesain gulp and start to step back. From that reaction, Bellin’s anxiety grew.
From noble mtl dot com
“You’re not Lesain, are you? Tell me you’re not. You were you from the beginning, weren’t you?”
“…”
The usually bright-faced Lesaine didn’t say a word.
Seeing her reaction, Bellin grabbed Lesaine by the collar and shouted.
“Answer me straight! You’re not, are you? You didn’t steal my sister’s body, did you? You’re not some possessed thing, are you? Right? I’m right!”
“Gak…huck….”
As Bellin tightened her grip on her neck, Lesaine began to cough in pain. Bellin, her reason returning, panicked and immediately released her grip, then helped Lesaine, who had fallen to the ground, back to her feet.
And then, she just stared at her.
“Sister… it’s…”
Lesaine looked into Bellin’s eyes. And after taking a deep breath, she told her everything.
“My… my memories only came back recently… what you said is right. I came from a place called Earth, and I possessed your sister’s body.”
“Ah…”
Bellin collapsed onto the spot. The person she had purely believed to be her sister was, in reality, a third party who had stolen her sister’s body, and her mind began to crumble.
“My sister… my sister is… ? If you stole her body, then my sister’s soul is…?”
“I didn’t steal it on purpose… One moment I opened my eyes and was inside this body, and I don’t know what happened to the real Lesaine’s soul…”
Bellin’s eyes became bloodshot, and she immediately lunged towards Lesaine.
“Kyaa!”
Whether Lesaine screamed or not, Bellin grabbed her by the collar again, brought her face close, and whispered.
“Return Lesaine’s soul back right now. I lived my whole life for that child. But how dare you… how dare you… how dare *you*…”
“I’m… I’m sorry, sister…”
“Don’t call me sister. It’s disgusting.”
At Bellin’s words, Lesaine began to shed tears, drop by drop. But Bellin didn’t care and threw her aside.
Rusein crumpled to the ground, writhing in pain again.
“It hurts… it hurts…”
Leaving Rusein groaning in agony, Belin trudged towards the Celestial Master.
“Can you return my sister to normal?”
“You speak informally.”
Belin immediately dropped to his knees, burying his head in the dirt as he spoke again.
“Please return my sister to normal. Please return Rusein’s original soul. I beg you. I’ll do anything, whatever you ask…please…!”
Tears welled and spilled from Belin’s eyes as the Celestial Master, a look of rapture on his face, whispered.
“I do not know how to return a possessed person to normal. I have killed countless possessed individuals, but none have ever returned to what they were. Even if Rusein were to die, the possessed soul and Rusein’s body would simply be destroyed. Rusein’s original soul would not return.”
“That can’t be… Rusein…Rusein…” Belin muttered, and the Celestial Master, as if amused, added,
“But it’s not as if there’s absolutely no way. In this world, there exist beings who defy all standards. Aberrant beings that move at their will beyond the laws of physics and the rules defined in this world. The only humans who defy even their own predetermined destiny. Perhaps that human would know how to remove a possessed soul and return the original soul.”
“Who is it? Just tell me, and I’ll do everything you ask.”
“Oh ho…really? Even if it meant killing your sister Rusein? Or rather, killing the soul within your sister Rusein’s body.”
“The soul within Rusein’s body now is nothing more than an evil spirit that has stolen my sister’s body. If Rusein’s original soul can reclaim her body, I’d even sell my own soul. There is nothing I wouldn’t do.”
“Very well. I will tell you. But I don’t know if you can even gain this person’s cooperation.”
“Who is it…?”
“Leos.”
“Ah…”
Belin collapsed where he knelt. The Celestial Master found Belin’s expression of despair so hilarious that he laughed heartily for a long while.
“Fate, it’s a wheel that always turns. You betrayed Leos to save your brother, yet now, Leos is the only one in this whole world who can help you. That’s why fate is so cruel and amusing. Will Leos even help you, I wonder?”
The Heavenly Master said this, then added softly,
“Leos won’t help you. It’s not just because he hates you. I know you’re curious about the reason, so I’ll tell you. Because the one possessing your brother, Rusein’s body, is Leos’s…”
The Heavenly Master trailed off, shaking her head. Belin was in no state to properly hear her anyway.
Completely panicked, Belin was shaking violently, her head buried in the floor, blood dripping from the impact. Crimson tears streamed from her eyes.
The Heavenly Master spoke to Belin.
“Soon, Leos will come. One of us will die, him or I. And perhaps his allies will come with him.”
Since the founding of the Heavenly Assembly, the Heavenly Master had never once uttered a word implying her own defeat. She was always in the position of an overwhelmingly powerful being, watching over all fates. She was confident that she could toy with and kill anyone, in any situation, without the slightest variable.
But Leos was different.
Leos was not included in the fate that the Heavenly Master had defined, and he always evaded the Heavenly Master’s ability to see fate. That’s why she couldn’t be sure.
Whether Leos would win, or she herself.
‘In terms of sheer power, I overwhelm him.’
It was impossible to know. What kind of variables could exist.
A smile began to spread across the Heavenly Master’s lips. A look as if she were going mad with pleasure.
‘The time has finally come.’
The Heavenly Master shouted to the Heavenly Assembly members around her.
“Leos is coming soon. Prepare to welcome our guest. If his allies come with him, kill them immediately. But don’t kill Leos. He will have a one-on-one with me.”
“Understood.”
The Heavenly Assembly members began to head outside, and the Heavenly Master, watching them, spoke to Belin.
“Take Rusein and come out. It’s going to get really interesting from here on out, we need to watch.”
The moment she heard the Celestial Master’s words, Velen, like a person devoid of all feeling, seized the collar of Lusein’s clothes and followed after the Celestial Master.
Lusein looked at Velen and spoke.
“Sister…am I…going to die now…?”
Velen looked at her, her eyes filled with disgust, and replied.
“You disgusting possessor who stole someone else’s body, don’t look at me with that expression. If killing you means my sister can come back, I’d gladly do it.”
Hearing her words, Lusein smiled brightly.
“Yes…! If it means the original owner can get their body back, then I’m okay with it, Sister.”
“…”
Velen paused for a moment. Velen’s gaze fixed on Lusein’s eyes.
Lusein wore an endlessly bright smile. An expression like she was finally being released from her guilt.
*Clench…*
Velen strongly gripped her hand and pulled Lusein again. But after a moment, she released the clothes she’d been holding forcefully and said,
“Walk yourself, I don’t even want to touch you.”
“Okay…I understand, Sister.”

The safe zone where Leos and his group were.
Leos spoke to those around him.
“I’ve found out where the Celestial Master is, and from now on, I will go and confront him alone.”
