Regression Sword Apocalypse Reconquest - Chapter 87
Only Noblemtl
Episode 87
Sehyuk followed the trail of modified military vehicles and approached them.
It would be okay if it just passed, but I don’t think that will happen.
“stop!”
A line of jeeps stopped in front of the apartment complex just across the road, and passengers began to pile out of the jeeps and trams.
Some of them take the time to squat on the floor and smoke a cigarette.
Sehyuk also hid and started listening to their stories.
“Are they really here? The ones that raided Warehouse 1 last time?”
The person who was lighting the cigarette of the person standing next to him with a lighter asked worriedly.
Judging from his actions and the fact that his chest armor is completely torn and worn out, he appears to be a low-level character.
“The main unit said it was this way when they tracked it, so it must be there. How would I know what the engineers are doing?”
A man, presumably his boss, takes a drag on a cigarette and puffs out a puff of smoke.
“Even if it’s not here, what’s the big deal? We still have to deal with all the guys we see in front of us.”
“They must be tough guys since they messed up the place like that. I’m worried that things might go wrong.”
The shrunken extremities.
At those words, the higher-ranking person grins and taps his subordinate.
“Hey. What’s the problem with having tanks? Just shoot them all down.”
That is certainly true.
The reason Sehyuk can’t rush in now is not because he can’t kill those guys.
‘We can’t rule out the possibility that this unit isn’t the whole thing.’
Assuming Sehyuk rushes in.
If they stall here, things will get awkward when the guys from the other side take a few hostages.
The moment I was thinking that way.
“Why is everyone talking about such ominous things from the start?”
A young looking man got out of the jeep.
Unlike other people who had long hair and wore their uniforms haphazardly, he had the impression of a soldier with sharp features.
“That’s why we came here.”
Sehyuk was a little surprised by the man’s words.
“To become independent from those damn dictators?”
* * *
‘I thought you’d come for revenge for robbing my warehouse. But instead, it was a rebellion.’
Those involved with the deserting engineers were right, but their purpose was different than expected.
revolt.
If you think about it, it could be an opportunity to eliminate one of the risk factors around you.
Sehyuk went back and discussed it with others.
After consulting with the reconnaissance team, they say there are no other visitors in the area.
‘Aren’t there any ambush troops?’
After discussion, Sehyuk finally decided to have a talk.
If Sehyuk can escape without anything else, there must be a way to do it.
So, Sehyuk went out to find the jeep force again.
It was only when they reached the library branch at the entrance to the village, past the area where there were a few roads and apartments, that Sehyuk was finally able to catch up with them.
I slowly approached them.
“Stop! This is our occupied territory. Get around.”
In Sehyuk’s hands, the loudspeaker that the production team had set up to communicate their intentions blared.
“Ah, ah. We have no intention of fighting. If you wait in front of the store, I will put down my weapons and go over there.”
The leader of this area must have been quite a bold man, too. He probably requested an interview with his weapon in the hopes that he could survive an attack.
Sehyuk responded to those words by going to the front of the store and keeping a close eye on the tanks and jeeps.
As I said, the military vehicles stopped and did not move.
And then, inside, the man with the exact same military uniform as before walked towards Sehyuk.
“Hello. My name is Lee Myeong-cheol. I was a platoon leader before the destruction.”
“This is Lee Se-hyuk.”
After a brief handshake, Lee Myung-cheol got straight to the point.
“Don’t you have any intention of joining hands with me to eliminate those who pretend to be members of the military?”
Se-hyeok and Lee Myeong-cheol’s eyes met in the air.
Lee Myeong-cheol observed Se-hyeok’s reaction for a moment and then continued speaking.
“Our superiors are a group of deserted engineers, and I know that the culprit who raided the secret warehouse is here. Whether it was you or not, they’ll send another military unit after I get back.”
The man’s words were simple and clear.
Let’s join hands. If you don’t, I’ll go back and bring more troops.
The proposal itself wasn’t bad. They were a group of marauders anyway, and Sehyuk was planning on hitting their main force later.
However, in a fight, there are times when a stupid ally is more likely to trip you up than a strong enemy.
The conversation that followed was a bit of a testing period.
“By the way, can you ask me to join your coup first? What if I join them?”
“Anyway, you and those guys won’t like it. And even if you tell them, they won’t listen either.”
While they were talking like that, Lee Myeong-cheol looked into space.
It was an apartment complex where people lived.
“Don’t you know how those engineers manipulate civilians inside the military base? When I take power, I’m going to eliminate all of that. The current military base needs to be controlled.”
And, Lee Myeong-cheol explained the current situation in detail.
The story is that the current deserter, the chief engineer, has taken over the military and is implementing a military dictatorship system solely for his own benefit.
As he said that, Lee Myeong-cheol’s face was filled with bitterness.
Sehyuk, who had been worrying, made a decision.
“Okay. If your plan is good, I’ll join you.”
Sehyuk’s conclusion was that he passed for now.
Because he seemed like a nice guy, and above all, his interests were clear, and the emotions he showed seemed quite genuine.
At least there seemed to be less chance of getting hit in the back of the head.
However, I don’t completely trust him.
‘The intention is good, though.’
You have to wait and see if that person is truly a proper leader.
* * *
After that, there was a brief period of testing Sehyuk’s skills on the part of the rebel engineers.
Of course, there were procedures that had to be followed, but the main reason was something else.
“Is this all you can take?”
Because Se-hyeok said he would only take a small number of people, including Cha Ye-seong, Choi Seong-hyeon, and Jang Yeong-su.
The truth that Sehyuk had caused a ruckus there with less than five people was a fact that Lee Myeongcheol found hard to believe.
So Se-hyeok had a light sparring session with Lee Myeong-cheol.
As expected, it didn’t take long.
visor!
Just one sword.
A rather sharp and heavy bayonet swing aimed precisely at Sehyuk’s waist, but Sehyuk knocked his gun away with a single movement.
“This is incredible. This is incredible power.”
Lee Myeong-cheol looks down at his own trembling hands and exclaims in admiration.
The force that forced open the hand that was clenched tightly. The reaction made my hand tingle.
He too was confident that he would not lose in terms of physical ability wherever he went.
That’s why he was able to become the leader of a unit in the deserter engineer unit.
Sehyuk disarmed his weapon as if twisting a child’s wrist.
“Your skills are second to none. Great.”
And Se-hyeok, who headed to the headquarters of the deserters with the rebels, saw an unexpected sight there.
To the left, a giant cylindrical plug-like structure hisses and pumps steam, an engineering fortress with large gearwheels turning between rusted, red-hot iron surfaces.
The main gate of the huge castle, which was reminiscent of a giant garbage dump, was wide open, lined with all sorts of scrap metal.
“That’s strange. That can’t be. Could you please check it for me?”
A car that promised to work as a special force.
Sehyuk tried every verification he could.
Throwing a stone that is similar in size and shape to a human, or similar in weight to a human. Calling in Choi Sung-hyun and Cha Ye-seong to check if there are any traps around.
But there was nothing.
It was the same when I entered the castle.
Instead, what greeted Se-hyeok was the floor that was dyed bright red from the start, and the remains of flesh scattered on it. The first floor lobby was a pile of broken scrap metal, as if something had swept through and tore it apart.
* * *
“This is terrible.”
Sensing the danger within, Sehyuk brought in the rebels who had decided to form an alliance.
Together with Lee Myung-cheol, we search through the complex and mysterious scrap buildings for survivors.
Walking through the corridors where all sorts of scrap metal was cluttered up to make a messy building, just like in Kowloon Walled City.
But there were no survivors.
All that remains are traces of someone having eaten everything, piles of blood, and the remains of a shattered, scrap metal building that looks like it was swept away by a giant monster.
“hey.”
“yes?”
“Do you have any idea who the culprit of this phenomenon is?”
Lee Myeong-cheol blinks as if asking why I’m suddenly asking such a question.
But Lee Myeong-cheol quickly realized what Se-hyeok was trying to say.
“You’d better make a decision quickly. The damage was this severe, and there’s absolutely no clue as to how this level of casualties was inflicted. That means….”
“That means there may still be a risk factor nearby.”
“okay.”
Lee Myeong-cheol’s face darkens.
“That’s true. And there’s a reason I absolutely can’t abandon this place.”
“why?”
“Unfortunately, during the battle with the military unit, all of our temporary shelters were destroyed, so we have no place to stay except this fortress.”
That means Lee Myeong-cheol must find the threat factor that exists in this vicinity.
“Well, let’s start with some possible hypotheses. It should be able to almost dismember a person, and it should be a means to destroy the entire area surrounding the wall.”
“By the way, I have a guess.”
Lee Myeong-cheol, his face hardened, went up to the top floor and pressed a button on the wall.
The wall split apart with a rumbling sound. And then, a glass-shaped elevator rose from below.
Around it, you can see a lot of untidy wires.
“On the top floor are the headquarters and the research building. We’re going to the research building.”
Rattling. Rattling. Squeak.
A transparent glass elevator connected to a sparkling conveyor belt traverses the air.
Narrow, gray alleyways snake past below.
The elevator’s final destination is the middle of the tower that rises above the fortress.
Lee Myeong-cheol opened the door to the laboratory as usual.
The lab was quieter than I expected. There were no traces of blood or bodies.
However, all the tools used in the experiment were completely smashed, and the gray iron drawers, cabinets, and watering cans were all missing and scattered on the floor.
It looks as if he is trying to find something.
Lee Myeong-cheol picked up the documents that had fallen closest to the entrance and examined them.
“I think there’s a higher chance that my guess is correct. I’m talking about the culprit of this case.”
And, Lee Myeong-cheol picked out a few documents and handed them to Se-hyeok.
