The Chaebol Who Flies From Space - Chapter 32
Only Noblemtl
32. Meet Jamie Gatewood.
Jamie Everhart Gatewood has been in Miami Beach for a very long time. She gained worldwide fame and fortune at a young age after starring in a huge commercial success.
The first flex she made after becoming successful was buying a house in Miami Beach.
There were a significant number of Hollywood actors who had homes in Miami Beach, which boasts a hot climate all year round.
It was said that there were just as many celebrities who wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of LA or the dreary life of New York.
I just finished shooting a film with James Everett.
Working with world-class masters has always been challenging.
Especially working with a director like James, who puts his life on the line for every little detail to the point of madness, is literally a disaster.
If the director had not been the one whose previous work had been a huge success with a billion dollars, it would have been difficult to film as there would have been many incidents during the filming. Even the indifferent DiCaprio, who played the opposite role, swore at her and ran away during filming.
Every time a movie actor finishes a project, he or she feels a tremendous sense of emptiness. It also takes time to get away from the character that he or she was completely focused on.
The aftermath was even more severe when I had to act as a character with drastic emotional changes.
It was almost a normal part of a movie star’s daily routine to see a psychiatrist.
For Jamie, Miami Beach was like a refreshing drink that relieved his tense mind.
A friend who came to Miami with her beat her up.
“Are you looking at the sea again? I told you, that’s crazy.”
“I don’t know, but what can I do if I feel suffocated just by looking at it like this? This shoot was really, really hard.”
“You said that DiCaprio ran away while filming a movie? Considering his fame, isn’t that too much to ask for?”
Movie actors are very picky. They demand a lot of things from the time they sign a contract, and all sorts of things are included.
“I never want to work with James again.”
“If you can do that, then that person must be really something.”
“Stop talking, you’re the ultimate paranoid idiot. You seem to have a disease that will kill you if you can’t express exactly what’s on your mind.”
Valentina clicked her tongue as she looked at her friend who had become half-dead.
“What can I do? Still, actors are lining up to appear in that person’s work.”
The reputation of being a world-class master was not earned for nothing.
If you appear in a work he directs, you will gain world-wide fame. So there must be many actors who want to appear in the work of this paranoid king.
As Valentina listened to her friend gossiping about the director for a long time, she caught sight of an Asian man outside the window.
“Oh my! Look at that guy! He got kicked again.”
“Who? Who’s out there?”
“That guy over there, his reaction is really interesting.”
Jamie’s eyes followed his friend’s gaze out the window, towards the beach.
The sight of a man walking along the beach muttering to himself was clearly different from that of an ordinary person.
I just watched him sit on the floor, clutching his hair, trying to woo the girls but failing.
“What is that guy?”
Valentina, who was sitting next to Jamie and watching the scene, giggled.
It seemed ridiculous to him to confidently approach women and then get rejected without warning.
Watching the man get rejected and frustrated, as if he thought she would accept him if he just kept pushing forward, became a small source of entertainment in their otherwise quiet daily lives.
The two of them watched, laughing, as the man was rejected ten times out of ten.
“You’re quite persistent, aren’t you? But why do the kids reject you? You look pretty good, don’t you?”
The man’s figure couldn’t be seen clearly because it was quite far away, but there was something about the atmosphere.
Valentina, who had been laughing at the sight of the woman, answered refreshingly.
“This is Miami Beach. The girls out there are looking for rich guys or famous movie stars. Even at first glance, the guy doesn’t look like he has much money.”
Jamie’s eyes caught sight of the man’s clothes. He was wearing simple shorts and slippers.
I didn’t feel any sincerity in hunting women. It took a lot of courage to try to seduce a woman by dressing like that.
“Hmm, I see. The guy seems pretty nice, doesn’t he?”
“Are you trying to save me?”
“Don’t you think it would be fun?”
“Arthur, if you do that, the paparazzi will chase after you like crazy. The other person is an Asian man. At first glance, he doesn’t seem Japanese? No, he doesn’t seem Chinese either. Where is he from?”
“He’s probably Korean. I think a Korean kid I knew in college mostly wore that kind of outfit.”
A Korean friend she had known in college came to mind. He was popular among the girls because of his good looks.
‘His name was Yongwon Jo, right?’
Jamie, who didn’t know why he suddenly remembered the name, suddenly burst into loud laughter as he looked at the beach again.
“What? Why are you here?”
I was walking back to the hotel from the beach, feeling weak after being dumped by the girls, when I heard a voice calling me and turned around to see a familiar face.
According to the memories that remain in my head, it was my college friend, Jamie Gatewood.
“I have a house here, you know. So what brings you here?”
“Oh! You were a movie star, weren’t you?”
You graduated from New York University with a degree in business administration and went to Hollywood, right? No, you were already making movies, so you probably went back to your main job.
“Yeah, I’m a movie actor.”
“I’ve been watching the work you’ve done. But is there a friend next to you?”
“Yes, this is Valentina Lisitsa. This is my college friend, Yongwon Jo.”
I waved my hand in greeting to Valentina, who was looking at me with an excited expression.
After a brief greeting at the place we were taken to, small talk began.
“You two are college classmates?”
“Yeah, I heard that after graduating from college in New York, he went to graduate school in Hollywood. It was Columbia, right? What are you doing now?”
“After graduating from graduate school, I returned to Korea and bought a small company and am running it. I had some work to do in the US, so I went to Chicago, and you know what? It’s a mess there right now because of the cold.”
“Ugh, I heard there was a cold spell there. It was pretty noisy on TV. I heard a lot of people froze to death.”
“I really thought I was going to freeze to death. That’s why I came here right after work. I feel like I’m going to survive now that I’m here.”
Just thinking about the cold weather in Chicago gave me goosebumps.
“I think so. That’s why I bought a house here too.”
“That was a good idea. Praise your past self.”
Jamie shrugged and lifted his head at my words.
“Of course you should. But you know, you must have spent a lot of time at the beach.”
“Aha, that’s it······. Did you see everything?”
My heart sank at the sight of Jamie smiling as he spoke.
“If you were to flirt with girls and then get rejected, I would have kept my eyes open.”
“···.”
“I guess I should say that when I meet my college friends again after a long time, I have a lot more stories to tell.”
This was a kick to the blanket that could not be pulled off.
“Can you please forget it?”
“How could I forget? I should have taken a picture of you being so cool.”
My forehead tingled at the sight of Jamie looking at me with strange eyes like a beast that had missed its prey.
“Enough joking, okay? Okay, I’ve been getting dumped by girls all day long!
“Ha! To be honest, I can’t even joke around anymore.”
When someone is trying to tease you to death, simply admit it and it will be resolved quickly. The house I saw was a little dreary for someone to live in. It had more of a studio feel than a house to live in.
“I don’t think this is the house you live in?”
“When an actor finishes a piece, he needs time to get away from the role. This is a place I often use because I can naturally solve the problem by looking at the beach without thinking about anything. It’s a place to relax, so to speak. I can avoid people’s gaze and also watch people.”
It was certainly a typical American remark, one that values privacy.
“How long do you plan on staying here?”
“I have to go to New York next week, so I guess the cold will ease up by then?”
“maybe?”
“I wish I had. I thought I was going to die even though I only walked around Chicago for a little while.”
“It’s a week, so you have a lot of time during that time, right?”
I had a feeling something was wrong, but I tried to ignore it.
“It’s hard to say that I have a lot of time.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you meet as many girls as you want.”
[Master, it went as you wished.]
“What do you want? I’m still a bit anxious. That’s not normal.”
Jamie Gatewood’s playfulness was astounding as it gets in his head.
During my college days, I used to play mischievous pranks on myself, completely forgetting that I was an actress.
Well, college years were a time when you couldn’t help but go crazy.
Unlike Korean universities, the pressure of assignments and exams during the semester was extremely intense.
One way they dealt with the pressure was by pulling huge pranks on each other.
[Isn’t that level suitable for a master?]
“Jamie? He’s not a girl, he’s more like a boyfriend. Have you heard of him? He’s a guy who doesn’t have a girlfriend. According to my memory, he was the guy who used to run around naked in the dorms and tease me.”
Jamie was a flashy character on the outside, but he was a bloodthirsty villain when you got close to him. People around him were jealous of him for being close to a famous actress.
If a young Asian man gets close to a beautiful Hollywood actress, there are bound to be a lot of jealous guys.
When roses bloom, all kinds of flies swarm them.
[Oh my! Why is your mouth so long? Even though you are known as the universe’s greatest Casanova.]
“That’s right. Why have I lost my confidence? I got beat up so much at the beach that I’m not in my right mind anymore.”
[Cheer up. If the Master dresses up properly, the ladies won’t reject him. Probably.]
What the hell is this guy talking about? Why is he adding maybe at the end?
“By the way, there aren’t any traces of Chicago, right?”
[The remaining offices were closed and the accounts were emptied.]
“You did a great job of cleaning up after yourself.”
He laundered the money by spinning it around several times. He distributed the invested money and kept it in several places.
[Is it really necessary to do this? I did it because it was the Master’s order, but I think I’m being too nervous.]
“Never naively reveal your source of funding. The Freemasons, the Knights of the Golden Sheep, the Rose Garden, I can only recall a few secret societies. They all exist in this day and age.”
Secret societies existed even in the space age.
Humans tend to group together with similar people for convenience or to protect their own interests.
[A while ago, a news program about secret organizations was broadcast in France.]
“It must have been buried neatly.”
[As you said, at first there was a huge response, but at some point it disappeared without a trace.]
“Of course. Why is a secret organization a secret organization? You never know where there might be members. Do you know how they accept new members in such a place? If you reject an offer, they deal with it cleanly. Like an accident or a natural disaster. There are various ways to deal with it.”
At my words, Iriel, who was still a young AI, was startled.
[Do you really do that?]
“How many people do you think approached me to include me in their gatherings? It’s obvious what those fools do.”
[How did you avoid the Master?]
“What are you avoiding?”
[You’re saying you’re going to deal with rejectors?]
“Well, even so, I’ve been on the brink of death a few times. If you keep killing, the clumsy leeches won’t stick around anymore.”
There are countless wars unknown to the world.
After a long and drawn-out war, I personally destroyed the Cosmos Freemasonry, the most secretive and oldest Freemasonry in the space age.
