- The Everyday Life of an Incompetent Crown Prince chapter 1
1: Self-Introduction
Abruptly, I, Car-Maine Colorless Ji Garland Lu Carlo-Jiggle Arei, am the third son of the king.
I was the long-awaited crown prince born to the queen mother after the king’s two concubines had children.
Yes, “was”.
Now I am just a child who has been under house arrest in one of the king’s villas since I was ten years old under the name of convalescence.
My Arei Kingdom is a feudalistic state, and also a meritocratic state, so strength is most highly valued.
I was born to the current king, who is renowned as the strongest in history, and the eldest daughter of the ducal family, who is renowned as one of the strongest in the country, so it seems that I was expected by those around me.
However, as I grew up, it became clear how incompetent I was.
When I was five years old, I took the ability test that all children of royalty and nobility must take, and it was discovered that I had no talent, something that is rarely seen even among commoners.
When I was ten years old, I took the ability test again, and it was still the same. Even after five years, I had not grown at all.
In my country, royalty and nobility who have no talent are called incompetent.
Those around me were very disappointed. I still remember the expressions and gazes of those around me when they saw the test results.
Normally, I would have been deposed crown prince (廢太子), and if I was unlucky, I could have been erased from existence, but my mother, the queen, did not remain silent.
She did not remain silent, or rather, those around her could not silence her.
My father, the king, is apparently head over heels in love with my mother, the queen. It is said that he cherishes her so much that he would cut down even a god if he showed her the slightest disrespect.
When it became clear that I had no talent, my mother apparently cried and cried. She did not shed tears for my patheticness, but for the fate that would befall me as a result.
My father, who saw my mother in such a state, decided not to Gintaiko (廢太子) me, but instead to have me convalesce in a villa. He also swore to my mother that he would never mistreat me.
I suppose he couldn’t keep me in the palace, and that was the best he could do as king.
Well, it seems that my father had a hard time stopping my mother when she said, “Then I will go with Cain.”
And another reason why I was safe was the existence of my mother’s family.
My mother’s family, the Zalud ducal family, is one of the most powerful martial arts families in the kingdom. In this country where strength is valued, their presence is overwhelming, and they are a fighting clan to the extent that the head of the family naturally leads the charge in wars with other countries.
I am the son of the eldest daughter of the Zalud ducal family and the king, and the crown prince. In other words, I am the future king. If I were to be Gin Taishi (廢太子), no matter how much the kingdom values strength, it would not be amusing for the ducal family.
After all, if their grandson became king, they would become related by marriage, and their influence in the kingdom would increase.
Whether or not that was the reason, I somehow managed to escape being deposed crown prince (廢太子) and the threat to my life.
As an aside, the head of the ducal family, Geed Flame Lu Garjis Do Lu Zalud, was a complete anomaly among the nobility, who treated women as nothing more than tools for marriage.
My father was apparently head over heels in love with my mother, but my grandfather, the head of the ducal family, apparently doted on my mother to the point where he couldn’t bear to look at her.
He must have also been fond of me, the grandson of his beloved daughter. He was supposed to be confined to his territory, but he would come to the royal palace on any pretext.
Perhaps my father knew of my grandfather’s feelings, and that is why he spared me from house arrest, rather than the reputation of the ducal family.
Anyway, I, who had been confined to an oversized villa since I was ten years old, recently turned fifteen.
In this country, or rather, on this continent, fifteen years of age signifies adulthood. Normally, a splendid and grand celebratory party would have been held, but of course, there was no such thing.
From certain places, grand celebrations were sent, and from other places, harmless celebrations were sent, but compared to what it should have been, it was trivial.
The main topic is about the talent I realized when I turned fifteen. Rather than realizing it, it would be more accurate to say that it awakened.

This is my individual information (visual record) up until I turned fifteen, or in other words, my ability values (status).
I’ll omit the detailed explanation, but I think you can tell at a glance that it’s weak.
The ability values are indicated by rank, and they range from 1 to 7. For an adult commoner with a healthy body who hasn’t received any particular combat training, the average is generally around 3.
The numbers on the left and right are simple. The left is the current rank value, and the right represents 1 to 7 within that rank value. In short, the number on the right is the best and worst of the rank value on the left . 1 is the lowest and 7 is the highest.
Of course, this number is not absolute, but it can be a rough guide.
And I’m so weak that I don’t care about the guide. I was so weak that I might lose even if I fought a child around me.
However, this changed when I turned fifteen.

Looking at this, I understood something.
Perhaps I wasn’t talentless, but rather—it’s presumptuous of me to say this—I had too much talent.
But if I had shown it as a child, my body and mind wouldn’t have been able to handle it, so whether it was instinctual or subconscious, or perhaps someone else did it, I think it was sealed away.
The numbers like (6-7) that I can see are probably the ability values that I can use if I want to. Or perhaps they’re being hidden by the [Individual Information Concealment] skill.
Well, I understand what it’s saying. If I used hero-class abilities when I only had the body and mind of a newborn, my body would be blown away or my mind would be destroyed in an instant.
Even so, it’s ironic that my own talent would kill my own talent, I cried to myself in bed.
It’s too late now.
I’ve been called incompetent since I was a child, separated from my parents, and lived in a ridiculously large mansion with only servants and soldiers for five years.
Even if I were told now that I have hero-class talent, it would be like, “Oh, really?”
Anyway, the next king will be my younger brother, who was born second to my mother and for some reason was fond of me. Otherwise, it will be my half-brother, the first prince, who was born to the second concubine.
From Noble mtl dot com
Even though I haven’t been Gyotaiko, I have almost no right to the throne, so it doesn’t matter to me anymore.
So, I think I’ll just spend the rest of my life taking it easy until I die.
However, since I’ve finally gotten the chance to have a healthy body, I’d like to hunt some magic beasts around here and raise my soul level. I’ve only ever walked around part of the royal castle, the royal palace, the court, and in a carriage or in the mansions of great nobles, so I’d like to go outside normally.
I probably won’t get married, but I’d also like to have some experience with women. Even though I’m a direct descendant of the royal family, I probably won’t be able to have children with any of the women around here, so it might be impossible.
If I did have a child, the woman would probably disappear into the darkness somewhere, even if I didn’t.
That’s why I want to burn this day into my mind, the day I became an adult. Maybe I’ll write it down like an autobiography if I have time in the future.
It might be me reading it far in the future, or it might be you opening the finished book. But if you’re willing, I’d be happy if you’d join me.
This is the beginning of the boring days of the incompetent crown prince who turned fifteen.
