13 – The Slaughterer of Priest Rom
Allen’s hand holding the dagger trembled.
Until just now, the entire knight order had been guarding the main hall due to the bishop’s emergency summons.
It was to stop a knight named Haganes.
As the knights lined up and waited, Haganes appeared, coming down the stairs.
All the knights were watching her, preparing for what was about to happen.
But after a moment, they all dropped their weapons and sided with her in her nonsensical logic.
They disarmed themselves and returned to protect their families as if they were enchanted by her.
The situation was incomprehensible to Allen.
Even a knight locked the door with his own sword when Haganes entered the main hall.
It seemed like the priests held a grudge against her.
Otherwise, the actions were inexplicable.
Yet, no knight objected.
They just urged her footsteps that it was no big deal and to go home.
Soon, from beyond that door, horrifying screams continued without end.
No matter how hard the people inside tried to knock on the door, the swords hanging on the rain barrier were on the verge of breaking.
Naturally, not a single person had escaped from the main hall.
So, Allen couldn’t leave that spot.
It was because it was the day when all the priests in the pulpit were offering worship, and he thought there might be Ganict there amidst that gruesome scene.
As the sword on the rain barrier broke and the door opened slightly, Allen cautiously peered inside.
There, Haganess, covered in blood from head to toe, stood still with closed eyes.
Allen relaxed his grip on the dagger in his hand.
The trembling didn’t easily subside.
He silently took a deep breath, trying to regain as much composure as possible.
Ganict’s priest was in that hellish place.
He had to rescue him somehow.
Just as he had rescued Allen.
Allen lowered his body as much as possible, silenced his footsteps, and carefully slipped through the slightly open door.
Avoiding the corpses of priests scattered around who had been mutilated, he moved cautiously towards the wall.
He couldn’t examine them closely, but there was no corpse among them that looked like a Ganict priest.
He hid behind a pillar, cautiously peeking out to assess Haganess’s condition.
She was still standing there with closed eyes, muttering something.
‘Let’s deal with this quickly in this opening.’
He exerted force on the hand holding the dagger.
Allen slowly came out from beside the pillar, lowering his posture.
At that moment, a sound of something falling to the ground came from the opposite pillar.
One surviving priest, trying to sneak away, had tripped and fallen.
At the sound, Haganess opened her eyes and looked at the fallen priest.
The priest, terrified by her slow approach, pleaded, but it was in vain.
Her sword pierced his throat.
“Oh Lord, forgive me.”
Witnessing that cruel scene, Allen’s heart began to shake again.
He was scared.
His once composed body started trembling again.
‘Let’s just go back… I’ll come back later to find the priest…’
Allen, with his will shattered, turned his back to go back the way he came.
“Ah!”
In an instant, something wrapped around Allen’s ankle.
He fell to the ground, looking at what had caught his ankle.
A priest, not yet lifeless, was sprawled on the ground, gripping Allen’s ankle.
“P-please… spare me…”
Unconsciously yelling, Allen looked around frantically, sweating coldly, trying to find Haganess.
However, where she had been, there was only the corpse of the priest; she was nowhere to be seen.
“Oh Lord, forgive me.”
Her voice echoed from a very close distance.

Gegnict scanned the list of herbs given by Haganess and began sorting out what could be found in the recovery room.
There were more things prepared in the recovery room than he had thought, so it seemed he could shorten the time to make the antidote.
When he started to gather the remaining herbs, he heard the voice of the Knight Commander from outside.
It sounded like Haganess was arguing with someone, but it soon became quiet.
“What’s going on?”
Sensing something unusual, Gegnict finished preparing his tools and tried to leave the recovery room.
Swoosh, swoosh.
At that moment, the sound of a pen writing on paper came, and Gegnict heard someone jotting something down.
The pen on the table next to the Archbishop’s bed was moving on its own, writing something on the paper.
“A magic-infused pen? Perhaps something established through the communication network by Terosa.”
Gegnict placed his collection tools on the floor and picked up the paper to check its contents.
It was a letter sent from Terosa.
“Is… is this true?”
Shocked, Gegnict grabbed the paper and rushed out of the recovery room.

“Ke…kak…”
Allen, with his neck gripped by Haganess’s right hand, dangled in the air, struggling to keep his balance.
“I should have avoided this place like the other Holy Knights.”
“Kek… Hex.”
Allen’s eyes rolled back, and the whites showed as if he were about to faint.
Haganess, even upon seeing this, did not release the grip on her hand.
Just before Allen’s consciousness severed, the door to the main hall creaked open with a rough sound.
“Haganess!!!”
It was Gennict.
Upon hearing his voice, Haganess released the hand that was gripping Allen’s throat.
Allen’s body collapsed weakly to the floor.
“Allen!!!”
Gennict rushed over and checked Allen’s condition quickly.
Fortunately, it seemed there was no harm to his life.
“Pr… Priest…”
“What in the world is all this? What… What have you done!!!”
Gennict accused Haganess with a voice full of anger.
“…Didn’t I tell you? I will do as the will of the gods, as the divine revelation has come to me. To correct this rotten sect. To purify it, that is what the gods command.”
“So, you killed the knight with Wolfgang and fled?”
Haganess doubted her ears.
“What did you just say?”
“To swallow the sect with Wolfgang, killing even the knight… What do you people want? Are you trying to swallow the world using the power of the gods?”
Gennict threw a paper at Haganess, containing the message sent from Terosa.
Haganess caught the paper and checked its contents.
Her hand holding the paper began to tremble.
“Is… he alive?”
Tears started to well up in her eyes.
The contents of the letter were as follows.
[Emergency Correspondence]
Recipient: Rom and the sacred leader of the sect, Archbishop
A short while ago,
Wolfgang, the commander-in-chief, killed the knight Adeus inside the royal palace of Terosa and is currently fleeing.
All Terosa forces are currently on a search, and the entire kingdom is mobilized to track him down.
First, I request the support of Haganess, who has returned, and the knights of the Order for assistance.
And
If Wolfgang has returned to Rome or if you are protecting him in any form.
Please cooperate with the kingdom to avoid unnecessary conflicts.
Queen of Terosa, Rosalia
Reading it again, it was about Wolfgang being alive.
Ironically, it was Adeus who lost his life.
“W…Wolfgang…”
Tears that had been held back turned into drops and fell onto the paper.
Seeing that, Gennict whispered to Allen, lifting him up.
“Allen, pull yourself together and quickly go back home, escape with Yulia.”
“What…what…where to…?”
Gennict handed a wooden cross made from the wood in his arms to Allen.
“God will be with you. You already know where to go.”
“But, Father…go with me. I can’t do it alone…”
“Trust yourself, Allen.”
“I don’t want to. How can I…”
“I will follow soon! For now, get out of here! Go and take care of Yulia who is alone!”

“Father…”
“It’s an order, Allen!”
Allen seemed on the verge of tears at his firm attitude.
Gennict, reading confusion and fear on Allen’s face, embraced his face gently and spoke.
“Allen…you are my trustworthy knight. Always reliable. So…”
He could feel Allen trembling in his arms.
Gennict patted Allen’s back and continued speaking.
“I believe you will fulfill the mission I am entrusting to you. Protect Yulia…whatever happens, protect her. I will come to you soon. Until then, both of you must stay healthy no matter what it takes.”
Gennict gently separated Allen from his embrace and showed a smile.
Watching Allen’s back, Gennict slowly stood up and approached Haganess, who was holding paper and shedding tears.
“I don’t know what the situation is, but… what you’ve done is unforgivable.”
Haganess covered her mouth and began to sob.
Gegnit grabbed her arm.
“According to the school law, a proper punishment…”
Gegnit couldn’t finish his sentence because his head had been severed.
Fresh blood dripped from Haganess’s sword stained with blood.
