Part 2 Prologue
“Haah— haah—”
The woman, running through the pristine, overgrown jungle, clutched her heart as if it was going to burst. It had been a long time since she had run so hard that she was out of breath since becoming a hunter.
‘Then don’t come to the Demon Realm!’
The woman blamed the party member who had urged her to enter the magic zone. She should not have believed the words that it would be okay as long as she did not go too deep. She should not have been fooled by the rumors that the party at the Yalu River defense line had a hand in it.
Every choice I made was full of regrets.
‘If I had seen all the wrong things about the winter defense battle, I should have gone down right away. Phew, who are you blaming? I am an idiot for believing that. Now, we have no comrades to blame… … .’
The six party members who came in together were all killed by unidentified monsters. He was the only survivor. If he hadn’t been lucky enough to have been attacked by monsters right before he died, the damp swamps of the Demon Realm might have become his grave.
But the crisis is not over yet.
Although he couldn’t see it, his instincts warned him that his pursuer was close by. If he continued on this path, it wouldn’t be long before he was caught by the scruff of the neck.
In an instant, a brilliant idea flashed through the woman’s mind.
‘Granted! There was a swamp?’
A long, swampy river stretching along the running path.
She slid down the riverbank, untied the monster’s rope from her waist, buried her dagger deep into the solid ground at the edge of the swamp, and tied the rope to the handle.
“We’re almost there! If we lose sight of that bitch, we’re dead!”
She threw herself into the swamp, terrified by the urgent screams heard not far away.
I tried to hide in the swamp, but unfortunately, the sinking was slow. It seemed like I wouldn’t be able to hide until my pursuers arrived.
She mobilized all her mana and dove down as if swimming. If she went too deep, she might not be able to get out, but if she was caught, she might die immediately, so she had no time to think about it.
Fortunately, her pursuers only revealed themselves after she had completely hidden her body.
“Ha, that North Korean girl is so lucky. She just so happens to run into the ‘triangular rhinoceros’ at that time.”
“He seems like a reconnaissance dealer. He’s fast on his feet. If I had known this would happen, I would have brought someone with long-distance driving skills.”
“Anyway, if we miss this bitch, we’ll be the ones who get in trouble. We have to catch her somehow. If things get out of hand here, things will get difficult.”
The pursuers took a breath, tightened their reins, and quickly fled the scene.
A moment later, a large bubble gushed out from the nearby swamp where they were.
“Kuheuk! Kkul! Kolok kolok!”
The woman who emerged from the swamp was covered in sticky mud, like a doll made of clay.
She barely managed to wipe her eyes, then crawled out of the swamp, pulling on the rope. As soon as she reached land, she collapsed on the ground, relieved that she had shaken off her pursuers.
“Soo, I thought I was going to suffocate.”
After taking a quick breath, she stood up and turned in the opposite direction her pursuers had passed.
The road to the Tuman River, where we were originally headed, was likely to be lined with pursuers.
She shuddered as she recalled the party members being killed by their pursuers.
‘I had to go back far away towards the Yalu River to avoid them. I’d rather face a monster than those crazy guys. If I’m lucky, I’ll make it out alive.’
The woman left the place, taking only the dagger she had left on the ground.
