35. Negotiation
In order to obtain information about the witches, I searched the whole world upside down and searched for information.
From rumors to valuable information that has been passed down from generation to generation, all the information containing the word witch was scraped together, but there was little useful information.
“In a witch’s house, there was always something like a diary that the witch had been recording up until now. Whether it’s magic or records of what you’ve been doing, there’s sure to be information you haven’t gotten so far.”
“She has been struggling so far because she doesn’t know where the witch lives, and even if she did, she couldn’t kill the witch.”
“Yes. But her efforts so far have not been in vain.”
Elin manipulated her inventory with her remaining right hand and pulled out her compass. The needle whirled around, she pointed to either side, and she stopped.
“This compass you made. And Walpurgis, which I found after struggling so far. The witches who accidentally came and died.”
A satisfied smile bloomed on her face as she explained as she folded her fingers.
“The results of continuous efforts have gathered to reach what we are today. Even if witches don’t interact well, it’s a different story now. I’m already forming a magic circle to rule the world and collecting sacrifices. That means that exchanges with each other are becoming more active.”
“If you go to the residence of the witches I killed, you can also get clues about other witches.”
“Right. I contacted the magic tower to check, and the tower owner made a few more compasses.”
She took out a few more compasses of the same shape from her inventory, probably because she moved her items with magic.
“If there is no contact, there will probably be witches who are suspicious and will come to you. So, let’s split up and gather clues before time runs out.”
I moved my body, which was still staggering, and stood up from my seat. With one arm missing and her body staggering unbalanced, she stood upright on her feet with difficulty, looking at Froden.
Full of desire that she would never lie down and rest like this.
At that gaze, Froden sighed. Even if she persuades her, in the end she is a woman who will sneak out and run out alone.
In that case, it would be better for her to send someone she can trust.
“Uni. Can you move with Elin?”
“If I fall, who will take care of s*x?”
Of many compasses, Froden picked up the one to track the witch who handed him the magic paper.
She handed Yuni an empty compass with no information entered yet, then she picked up other compasses and called the information guild members and handed them over.
“First of all, I will continue to track down this witch, who is her leader. The two choose one of the witch’s heads they brought separately and search it. Contact Uni, you do it with magic.”
“Is it okay if I hear you groan?”
“Ellin, don’t force yourself to move while your body is calming down. If you need a potion, stop by the temple and buy it and drink it.”
“There is no reason not to refuse it if it is given to you for free.”
After excluding the 4 heads that were distributed to the guild members, I selected the remaining one and entered the information.
Soon after that, the spinning needle started pointing towards one place.
“I’ll head this way first. Contact me if anything happens.”
After her words, Froden started to move first.
————-
Froden, who was on the move to find the witch who is the owner of the magic paper, sat down for a while to rest her eyes as it was late at night and closed her eyes.
“It’s been a while. I don’t know if you’re doing well.”
When I opened my eyes, the scenery I saw was the same place I was invited to by the witch last time.
A room made of antique furniture boasting an antique atmosphere. In this all-red room, she was drinking tea leisurely.
“It seems that kidnapping is still a hobby.”
Froden hid her bewilderment and sat across from her witch.
Soft textured leather covered her entire body. Froden pulled her upper body forward and sat down at the feeling that made her whole body drowsy.
“You broke up a little violently last time, right? So, I wondered if she would ever get hurt. Think of it as an aftercare service.”
“Didn’t she say there was magic that could find Tina? I’ll leave out all the other rhetoric and just get to the point.”
“I am also Cha-am. It’s sad that someone who knows the beauty of conversation does that.”
She stifled her desire to pluck out the winking witch’s eyeballs as she scanned herself stickyly.
“Her magic to find that goddamn witch is simple. It’s because ‘if you make it’. Instead, I called you because I had no idea how many lives it would cost.”
“If it’s magic that requires the lives of so many people, wouldn’t it be enough for me alone?”
“I remember what I said the other day. If you have a deep relationship, the price you have to bear is reduced.”
When the witch habitually held the pipe and tried to light it, she got up and grabbed the pipe.
It’s something that might happen if you leave the witch’s actions alone, so even if it’s annoying, it’s better for her to prevent it in advance.
“To be violent.”
Despite such an action, the witch just gave her a cheesy laugh and moved her empty hands around.
“Even if the price is reduced, I don’t think it will be something I can afford, so I’ll ask. Exactly how much?”
“Half of your remaining life.”
“The price of a wish that eats up dozens of people is ridiculously low.”
“You are really the only one who says that your lifespan is shortening.”
Froden took a sip of the tea that lay in front of her and put it back in her place at the vibration she felt in her waist.
“But what about this? The deal you offer is already unattractive.”
Froden decided to throw a gamble here.
Tina announces that she will come to her regardless of whether she is looking for it or not, and she disappears.
She’s worried about what she’s going to do in the meantime, but it’s a different situation than when she had no alternative.
In a situation where there was nothing to regret, Froden brought her up to make one of her suggestions to get information about her curse.
“Tina contacted me and said she would be back soon. That’s why there is no need to make my wish come true even at the expense of my lifespan.”
“You know what your fiancé is up to, and you say such carefree things?”
“I know. That you’re killing innocent people. But what can I do? I’m coming soon I just have to wait quietly at home.”
Seeing Froden’s expression that she had no regrets at all, her witch naturally put strength into her hand that was holding her teacup.
She ended up leaving because she didn’t like the meal prepared by the prey she’d been catching for a long time.
The water surface in the teacup trembled calmly and a small wave crashed.
Her face, which was decorated with colorful makeup, was distorted little by little, and the makeup crumbled as if her mask had cracked.
“So what do you want from me?”
Witches were not fools. She was originally a mage seeking the truth, and she was once a promising prospect in the Mage Tower.
There is a clear reason why Froden brings out her words like that for no reason.
There was something he wanted, so it must have been a word he brought up to negotiate.
“He is smart, quick-witted, and action-oriented. Do you like it.”
“…Stop grinning and tell me what you want.”
He glared at Froden, who was reciting the lines he had spoken the other day without making any mistakes.
As I suppressed my anger, I gnashed my teeth. The teacup was already in her sorceress’ hand, with only her handle remaining, as her grip had not been able to overcome it.
“What must I do to break her witch’s curse?”
Froden grinned at her witch.
It was the opposite of her face, which was distorted like her demon by her anger.
“If you answer, you agree to pay the price and activate the magic, right?”
You’d better answer yes. Otherwise I’ll tear you to death.
The witch struggled to swallow her words that filled her throat and demanded an answer from her.
“If you don’t answer falsely, consider it.”
“Answer clearly. I agree.”
Surely, mistakes that people don’t make when they’re nervous come out.
Froden listened to the witch’s unknowingly spitting out her mistake and lowered her head slightly, holding back a burst of laughter.
At the sight of Froden, the anger disappeared from her witch’s face, revealing her pale, pale face for a moment.
“Now I understand why it is such a cumbersome process. The price of a wish requires the consent of the person paying the price.”
The witch neither refuted nor agreed. She just kept silent.
But for Froden, that option sounded like her best answer. The silence was the truth.
“Don’t start the negotiations, witch. It will take a bit more to convince me.”
Leaning her arm on one side of her, she made a pedestal for her, then rested her chin on it and looked sullenly at her witch.
The appearance of the witch swaying in the slanted field of vision was truly worth seeing.
“Ask me again.”
Her lips were swollen. Her witch’s gaze could be seen focused on her own lips.
It was a pleasure to see the witch who used to wield herself here and there now being wielded as she pleases.
Calming her shivering body, Froden put her question back to her mouth.
“Tell me how to break the witch’s curse. Everything.”
Looking at her rotting witch face, Froden smiled the smile she had been enduring.
Spit out a way to break the curse on Tina. Witch.
