Time Mansour - Chapter 27
Only Noblemtl
Episode 27 Difficulty
After receiving a call from Manager Chae, I went out for the first time in a while.
cold.
I took out my thick coat and put it on. It’s winter now. The trees along the street are shedding their leaves. They reveal their bare branches.
Every time he speaks, steam comes out of his mouth and then subsides again.
“Oh, it’s cold. Don’t you want something warm on a day like this?”
“Oh. Then how about shabu-shabu?”
“Okay. Do you know any places?”
At my words, Manager Chae nodded and started walking forward in front.
A streetlight took root on a pile of garbage bags on the side of the road.
The few remaining flyers flutter in the wind.
“This way. This way.”
So I turned my back on the pile of trash and entered the alley.
Knock knock.
Let’s push the restaurant door to the side.
The heat is gushing out.
“Wow. There are a lot of people.”
“It’s always like this at this time.”
It looks like a good restaurant. I pull out the menu as I sit down.
“What would you like to eat?”
“One soup, please. And you’re not going to drink alcohol… are you?”
“Yes. Two colas.”
like that.
After placing the order, I rummage through the shopping bag that Manager Chae brought.
I heard a rustling sound and looked up without realizing it.
“Here it is. This is a gift.”
“Is it mine? Huh? It’s a keyboard? Thank you.”
Manager Chae handed me a box,
I bow my head slightly and receive the box.
“No. I am more grateful. Thanks to Director Jeong, I passed the interview.”
“Huh? The interview is already over?”
I was slightly surprised and asked back.
Korean companies are definitely fast. Global companies take at least half a year to post a job opening and hire someone.
“Yes, sir. Thank you so much.”
Manager Chae clasps his hands together and smiles brightly.
I just followed him because he said he would buy me food.
I was a little worried because I thought something might have happened.
I was glad to hear good news.
“Congratulations. Well, congratulations, but… what’s with the keyboard?”
“Take a look at it.”
The agent smiled subtly at my question.
The smiling face looked suspicious, so I looked around the box carefully before opening it.
“What is this? This is a blueprint.”
As I spoke, laughter erupted. When I laughed, Manager Chae clapped his hands and laughed along with me.
“Mr. Chae. You know that I hate cleaning.”
“Hey. Let me try it this time.”
I hated the blue switch keyboard. I hated the look of it.
No. That’s not true. To be exact, I didn’t want to see people using blue switch keyboards.
“Only people who can’t do their jobs use this kind of thing.”
A filthy noisy keyboard.
In my long experience, the only people who use this in the office are basically the ones with some kind of defect.
“You work from home anyway. I don’t use a membrane keyboard at home either.”
Cheongchuk. This is a fun thing to play. While saying that, Manager Chae imitates playing the piano in the air.
“Yes. Yes. I understand. Thank you.”
I answer insincerely. Even so, the smile never leaves Manager Chae’s face.
Well, whatever you hear now will make you feel good.
In the IT world, Ive was a decent company.
The treatment was, of course, good.
Since it is an industry-leading company, there were many things it could try technically.
Anyway, I laughed and chatted with Manager Chae for a long time.
While we continued to exchange similar jokes.
“I’ll put it this way.”
The food we ordered arrived. The table was full.
Beef. Lamb. Cabbage. Chinese cabbage. Bok choy. Shiitake mushrooms. Wood ear mushrooms. Green onions. Carrots. Zucchini, etc.
Familiar ingredients are served raw.
“Let’s eat first.”
As I spoke, I picked up a cabbage and dipped it in the soup. The cabbage shook and I held my breath.
After stirring a couple more times, bring it to your mouth.
“Yes. How is your work going, Director?”
Manager Chae asks, mumbling, without even looking up.
“No. I just posted my operational know-how on the community, but I haven’t received any inquiries.”
“Of course. Who would outsource system operations? Wouldn’t it be better to just focus on development?”
As he answered my question, Manager Chae picked up his spoon.
Mr. Chae’s spoon is immersed in the soup.
“Freelance developers work in teams. I don’t like that.”
He was using chopsticks with one hand and scratching his head with the other.
I didn’t want to move as a team if possible.
If you are forced to be in a team,
Still, I wanted to provide support remotely if possible.
“If you want to do something on your own… you have to become famous first….”
Mr. Chae scrapes the bowl with one hand while holding the spoon with the other.
After thinking about it for a moment, he opened his mouth as if he had just remembered something.
“Then why don’t you contribute to the Gathub Library?”
“That? Me?”
“Yes. It’s good to become famous. It also helps with publicity. And who knows? Director Jeong might create a famous library that developers all over the world can use.”
Manager Chae smiles as if it’s nothing.
A famous library.
I couldn’t bring myself to nod at those words.
It was a huge shock to me as a half-developer.
**
“Please come in.”
“Thank you so much, Director Jeong. Goodbye.”
After greeting brightly, Manager Chae went down to the subway station.
I walk up the subway stairs with light steps.
Well, I’m sure he’ll do well there. He’s a trustworthy person.
I muttered to myself as I watched the back of the agent as he briskly walked down the stairs.
When he first went to Joongang Bank, Manager Chae was an ordinary engineer with four years of experience.
He was a cheerful person with a good personality. He wasn’t bad at being smart either.
However, he lacked the experience to survive at Joongang Bank.
“That’s why I carried Chae Dae-ri on my back and raised him with great care.”
I headed to the bus stop with a smile on my face.
A chilly wind blows through my hair.
In the early days, we put a lot of effort into giving Manager Chae some experience.
When I went and checked the size, among the company employees, only Manager Chae worked like a human being.
Although the companies were different, Manager Chae was practically my assistant.
If he just gains experience, he can do one person’s share.
I held on just with that thought.
I took care of other miscellaneous tasks outside of my scope of work, and left Manager Chae to only run the platforms he was confident in.
Phew. Phew. Steam keeps coming out of my mouth. The buses don’t come often in this neighborhood. I’m going to freeze to death waiting.
I just grumble and walk in place. I stamp my feet.
I stood close to the lane, staring into the distance with my legs raised.
Squeak.
As soon as the bus arrives, I climb on board, leaving the cold behind me and going inside.
I really hope it goes well.
I rest my chin on my hand and look out the window.
I just hope everything goes well for everyone. Manager Chae and everyone else.
With such a huge ambition in my heart, I blankly stared at the winter wind blowing outside the window.
**
Ta-da-dak. Ta-da-dak.
Each time the keycap was pressed, a pleasant noise rang out. The LED light flashed and glowed.
I tried connecting it to my computer once as a gesture of appreciation for the gift.
“It definitely has a nice kick to it.”
It wasn’t too bad.
Every time I typed on the keyboard, I felt a sensation in my fingertips.
The LED lights that light up every time you press them are also my style.
.
As I was playing the keyboard, I got into the rhythm like that.
-Macro Soft Geeth Hub.
Before I knew it, the Geat Herb homepage appeared on the screen.
An open repository of developers’ source code.
If you fix bugs in a famous library here, your reputation will naturally go up, but… still…
I unconsciously bite my lips as I organize my thoughts.
‘No matter how much I think about it, it just takes up too much space.’
The effort put in was just too much for a simple promotion.
“Okay. Let’s put this on hold for now.”
If I don’t get any more requests later, I’ll think about it again.
It’s not urgent right now.
With that thought in mind, I got up from my seat.
**
I came out into the living room with my cell phone in my hand. I was lost in my own thoughts.
Are you busy these days?
Since you’re my representative’s younger sibling, I hesitate to call you every time.
But it’s not like I can just send one message.
This time, I should at least contact you to say thank you, right?
As I made up my mind and pressed the call button on my phone, a beep sound came from the speaker.
I called this manager.
Exactly.
“hello.”
“Hello. How are you? Can I talk to you?”
“Yes, it is possible. What is it?”
“Miss Chae Shin, it’s Sunday. Thank you for your concern.”
“Huh? Oh! What did I say again? No.”
Is that why you’re calling? The manager’s laughter could be heard on the other end of the line.
“Yes. I just got in.”
“No. I heard that your team also likes Chae Shin-ah. They say her career is very good.”
“thank god.”
I nodded to the director’s words.
Well, he does have a good track record.
Manager Chae went to Joongang Bank to provide technical support and stayed there for three more years.
It was the highest honor on the floor.
Why did you just hang up the phone, while we were continuing this trivial conversation?
Suddenly, the director asked me.
“Right. But what exactly does Youngjun do? A coder? Something like that?”
Yes? What did you say? I asked back in surprise without realizing it.
Coder. A coder?
It was usually a derogatory term used to refer to developers.
I also used it sometimes when I was lowering myself.
This is a word I often use when criticizing the SI developers of Joongang Bank from behind.
however.
This is the first time in my life that I’ve heard that word used so openly and directly.
“You’re not a coder? Then you’re a developer?”
Ah. So… dozens of explanations come to mind and then disappear.
It’s the same thing in the first place. The term “coder” is used to disparage developers. But it’s a bit awkward to say it outright.
“Oh, it’s similar.”
I just roughly muddled through it.
“Oh, I see. Team Leader Jang asked me. What on earth do you do?”
It’s confusing, really. I don’t know what I do.
Maybe it’s because I did data recovery that it makes me feel even weirder.
It was a completely different field. Of course, to a normal person, they all seemed to be computer people.
So I just gave an answer that a normal person would understand.
“I just do this and that.”
“And the band is included in that?”
Then I hear laughter again. It seemed like it was a joke, but I missed the point.
“Yes. It’s similar.”
I just pretended to understand and smiled brightly.
